I hope not. First of all, we're packed in the midfield, if Hamsik is already being considered, this would mean that Gourcuff has absolutly no future in the club. Hamsik is great, no doubt, but Gourcuff is way better. Also if this were to happen we'd absolutly need to get a new striker, meaning that we'd have that much less funds to use in the defence which is what we should be focusing on anyways. Only player we should consider swapping Borriello for in Napoli, is Santacroce.
Hamsik would probably be our 3rd most attacking midfielder behind Kaka and Ronnie(who is leaving to city this summer). So From a Rijkaard prospective, he would be a great buy. Besides, Donadoni has repeatedly said he would want Boriello next summer. Either Napoli or we can use him to get thiago motta from genoa. With genoa probably selling milito to inter for over 20+M they would want a forward they know can play the system (boriello's loan spell with genoa proved such). So one would have to think of which player would suit the Barca-style midfield. I don't know if alot of our mids are as attacking as Rijkaard would like too, so one could maybe expect a clusterf*** of transfers.

Hamsik for Borriello would be too good to be true!!!

Marek Hamsik is versatile, sublimely skilled/adept passer utility midfielder than can slot in anywhere in the midfield. He has the physical characteristics to be a ball-winner, with the ability to pass and create from deep in the midfield. If Hamsik were on our team, we could slot him in next to pirlo, and he could do a box to box job for us - goodbye seedorf

.
i like borriello and his characteristics. the only reason i would consider allowing him to leave is because demba ba and edin dzeko are excellent strikers in the same mold - true modern strikers with the tall, physical imposing frames (like borriello) but both have a classy touch on the ball. Dzeko would be the more dangerous finisher in the area, while
Demba Ba is a hounding, charismatic leader of the front line with endless energy, more foot skill (than ade/dzeko), ball winning capability, and tactical awareness on the front line. Both are more than capable of replacing Borriello and will end up at big clubs very soon...and i would much rather have either of these two partner pato than adebayor. They both have higher potential than Borri or Ade.
Dzeko has JUST said in the press that he is aware of the interest from chelsea, however says he would rather play for either AC Milan or Juve. It sounds like he knows he'll be moving, and would rather play for clubs that he likes rather than sell his soul and move to chelsea. I say we sign him regardless, as it was a signing like this that we should have made last season instead of dinho.
i don't dislike borri, and think he could be a fine player for us. But i think Dzeko's and Ba's ceilings are higher, and if we could get hamsik for Borri, and pick up one of those two, we'd be better for it.
I am convinced that if our team made these moves, in addition to another young CB - Santacrocce, Kjaer, etc, we would have much better balance in the team in terms of age, wouldn't experience any drastic drop in quality, and increase the potential upside of the team.
Dinho provides a team chemistry/team selection headache for any manager of our club. I would rather have a player like yoann come in, play with heart and effort, and gradually improve than see an uninspiring dinho come on and perform half of the stuff he should be able to do due to his laziness while getting paid far more than he should be paid.
Hamsik, gourcuff, dzeko/demba ba in.
Seedorf, Borriello, Dinho out.

This side would have physical strength, technical ability, and pace. and believe me, when coming up against the strength of chelsea, the technical class of barca, or the strength/technical class of manchester/liverpool, you need all three to beat them. cuz lets be real, these are the best 3 clubs in the world, with inter/arsenal lagging behind them, but in front of us as our direct competition for the European title. This starting 11 would make us as good as any of them.
Dida/Abbiati (New young keeper would be nice)
Flamini - Thiago - Nesta - Srna/Zambro
Hamsik Pirlo Gattuso
Kaka
Pato Dzeko/Ba
DEF: Kjaer, Kaladze, Ambro, Gourcuff, Pippo
now that's a team primed with a good balance of youthful energy, championship experience, and the quality necessary to make an assault on the european competition
+1 000 000 000 000 000 VNATA!!!!!
i have been saying demba ba's name since december and also beleive with the current recession, we will be forced to look at bundesliga players (Ba/Dzeko/Novakovic) for a lesser price. Demba is what borriello aspires to!
