TMW reporting that we could hear confirmation as early as tonight regarding the Oddo De Silvestri switch.
QUOTE
Taking over the exchange Oddo - De Silvestri
Source: qsvs.it
Secondo what gives the site qsvs.it, the Milan would have in store another blow that is likely to be announced tonight or tomorrow. This is equivalent to an exchange between the lateral rossonero Oddo (33), former captain of Lazio, and the young quarterback De Silvestri (21), now on the margins of biancoceleste pink, with a contract expiring in June 2010. It 'more likely, however, an exchange of loans, is also likely that Milan will take part of recruitment of Oddo, far too high for the company Lotito. It would be an exceptional market, however, expect further confirmation today.

De Silvestri would be enough for the fullback position
If this is really as done and dusted as is being said, tha management should concentrate on the midfield. Sneijder, Hernanes, etc
Van der Vaart is also on the way out at Real, we should look into that one, he could be another ultra cheap top class Dutch player we could bring in
Protagonist
Aug 7 2009, 03:00 PM
Van der Vaart, I don't rate him that highly. He has made a name in football, as a promising attacking midfielder. That said, he did not prove to be all that at his time in Madrid, nor before that. At best, I'd prefer Hernanes or Sneijder to him.
on a side note: Does anyone feel that Gila would fit into our current tactics??
well anyways, we have Huntelaar whom i thnk is better. so YAY!
i consider VDV a world class player. sure hes not playing well now, but given the chance to play in his position he would outshine many. so i definitely would welcome him

de silvestri and drenth would be perfect, both are very attacking fullbacks which has been part of our model for some time now.

yep,i'm also one of the few who think we had absolutely no business selling gila, he wasn't playing that badly at the time, he only didn't get as many goals but still he had a good thing going with pato helping the lad settle up front+ one day we're talking gila+pato for the future and the next day he's gone, only to resume banging in goals for fiorentina. we had no business selling him

Gila was a scapegoat, nothing more. Alot of the criticism about him is unjust. Like the myth that he never scored important goals, despite the fact that about 90% of them could be considered important.

Gilardino didn't work in the Milan system. The fact is he didn't produce because he wasn't an adequate replacement to fill the shoes of Scheva and everyone criticises him. We had a strikeforce of box strikers with nobody that could pass them the ball. On the other hand he didn't produce in champions league which really separates a world player from a regular player.
I don't get how Milan don't get the simple fact that Ancelottis tactics were dependent on a solid #9 forward. I said Torres and Benzema look at them now.

i strongly disagree with the yard stick u're using to measure class, let me remind u that wayne rooney had a champions league goal drought for almost 2yrs, also didn't get international goals for about 3yrs too, ibrahimovic hasn't quite stepped up on the biggest UCL stage either yet they're regarded a classy, gila only needed more chance period.

When they pay off their debt, they will be a scary club to compete with. Right now thats all that is holding them back and yet they can still compete imagine when they can actually spend their profits.

In regards to the deal regarding Silvestri, Its reported it could be done as early as monday as silvestri will fly to milan for final talks.
There are two options though. We give oddo+cash(4m) or we buy him straight out 8m. I personally think Oddo will not be transfered and we will buy him straight out but I could be wrong. Its all speculation at this point. But what is good news is that the smoke screens (bale&vargas) have already been placed and comments from both have been heard as well, which usually means the signing is close.
We'll see on monday. However, I must stress for all to remember anything can happen

that'd be great(its good to finally see quality players arrive), on the other hand it seems we're all hooked on the 'buying players for the future thingy' so far i'm not so convinced we've got a title winning squad YET.
