Why not get rid of both then? Its only logical

The difference is that Dida still has something left to contribute.

It wasn't until he signed his extension that people became so frickin' obsessed over the players' contracts.

Of course it became a big deal. He got a ridiculous wage increase while playing like cr@p and during the time when the financial out cries started to come about from Galliani and co.

I still think Juve can compete for serie A this season, they have the best midfielders in Italy.

If only Inter focus on the CL. yes Juve have a great midfield, but Inter have a great defense, a great midfield and a great attack!
Habitant
funny cuz our only strength was in midfield and now without kaka and possibly pirlo it probably isnt even in the top 4 midfields in serie a laugh.gif
Warchant
what do you guys think of Diego Forlan?

just read an article about how strange it is that he was the top goal scorer in La Liga last year, yet no one seems to be looking at him.

i haven't seem him play that much.
Zed.D
Pretty underrated. he's scored so many goals in the past few seasons but somehow I get the feeling that he's made for Spanish/Latin America football. he didn't cut it in England and I doubt he will be any better in Italy. it's probably me being wrong though...

kurtsimonw
You may be wrong, but I agree with you. He was terrible over here and I just don't see him making a big impact in Italy. Spanish/South American football is the place for him.

Leonardo was finally awarded his coaching badges yesterday after completing the second category course for professional coaches at Coverciano, and is now fully licensed to dive into his new adventure as Milan boss.

The 39-year-old resumed training with the squad this morning, but took the time to speak about his feelings after the first few days in charge at Milanello.

“I am at a club whose ‘structure’ I have known for so many years but it nonetheless requires an adaptation period,” he told Sky Sport 24.

“What really makes me happy today is not only the willingness of the staff I work with, but particularly that of the players.”

Leonardo took over from Carlo Ancelotti who left the club after eight years at the helm to join Chelsea last month.

However, ‘Leo’ recently admitted to a Brazilian magazine that coaching was never really an option for him and he believes it will be only a temporary thing, as he prefers administrative roles.

Bundesliga side Freiburg have confirmed their interest in Milan defender Digao, the younger brother of Real Madrid superstar Kaka.

Digao joined the Rossoneri in 2005, but he has been on loan at various clubs including Rimini and Standard Liege. Freiburg, who clinched promotion to the Bundesliga in May, are looking to add strength to their back line, and they have revealed their penchant for the Brazilian.

Freiburg sporting director Dirk Duffner admits negotiations with Milan are ongoing.

"We are talking, but only for a loan deal as his wages are too high for us," Duffner told Sportmediaset.it.

"We will tell Milan how much we are willing to invest
, and then we will see what happens."

Earlier reports had claimed the Rossoneri had offered the player to Madrid-based Getafe, but the latest developments suggest he is close to the German outfit.

In the last couple of days Adriano's agent,Gilmar Rinaldi, has said the former Inter star would like to return to Italy in the future, and also hinted that the Nerazzurri's arch-rivals AC Milan could be an option for the Brazilian.

Now Rinaldi took it one step further, and revealed that the Rossoneri have asked for information about the 27-year-old.

"For now there isn't a real chance Adriano will return to Italy in December," he said to Mediagol. "Milan have contacted us to ask if the player had a clause in his contract that prevented him from returning to Italy, and we answered no. In any case, Adriano wants to remain in Brazil until December."

It had often been said in the past that Adriano would feel at home at AC Milan due to the amount Brazilian players in their squad. However, it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri would be willing to risk investing in a player who is known to have little off-the-pitch discipline.

"The interest of Milan's offer but we did not arrive at the fair value of the player. If by July 21, not something happens, Luis Fabiano will retreat along with his other companions, and if that happens, will remain at Seville until 2011. "

Theres our ultimatum. If we do NOT find an agreement by that date, the transfer will be abandoned. Thats in 4 days. Not looking good, now I know why Galliani is not going to usa. I hope we sign him, we need a good foreward. Galliani also came out and said Huntelaar is not an option and Pirlo will stay.
kurtsimonw
I think Galliani needs to realise the price is set by the selling club, not the buying club. If Sevilla feel he's worth £25m to them, then we'll need to pay £25m, it's really as simple as that.

Yeah true that. It seems sevilla are not a club that will panic and reduce the price at the last minute. They don't need to afterall they are a big club.

I think at the end we'll pay what they ask for sadly. I could be wrong and we could not sign him, at this point I can't predict anything. Galliani has not been his usual self this transfer season so its hard to predict what we'll do at all.

With negotiations still ongoing for Luis Fabiano, it seems Milan may have identified a new solution for their attack, namely; David Trezeguet. The Frenchman had been a target of the Rossoneri many years ago when he moved to Juventus and it now seems he is back on their radar following his exemplary start to pre-season.

As Milan search for a strong centre forward capable of threatening in the air, Juventus are still a little short at the back as they look for another defender. According to GazzettadelloSport, a solution could be a possible exchange deal with Trezeguet and Oddo both swapping shirts for the coming season.

With the former Lazio full back out of favour at the San Siro he would surely welcome a move to a side that can give him more guarantees in a season leading up to a World Cup. After having already turned down Panathinaikos, Oddo would be much more welcoming to move to another great Italian club.

As the idea of an exchange begins to be considered, Milan look set to wait for the conclusion of their move for Luis Fabiano. Should this, like their previous bid for Edin Dzeko prove unsuccessful, it is more than likely the Rossoneri will look to plan B, as the start of the season draws ever closer.

Barcelona have reportedly concluded the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter.

According to Sport, Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and Raul Sanllehi met with Massimo Moratti late on Thursday and an agreement was reached around midnight.

The transfer will see the Blaugrana part with €40 million plus Samuel Eto’o and Aliaksandr Hleb, with the Belarussian joining the Nerazzurri on a loan spell.

The Barcelona-based daily believes that Inter had initially informed the Blaugrana that Ibrahimovic was keen on moving to the Camp Nou, at which point the Catalan club contacted Eto’o, who immediately gave the part-exchange deal the green light.

And when Barca’s own negotiations with Valencia for David Villa all but collapsed, Laporta promptly contacted Moratti to arrange an emergency meeting last night upon receiving a request from the head coach, Pep Guardiola, to conclude the deal as soon as possible.

It is also speculated that ‘Ibracadabra’ will take a pay-cut in order to play for ‘El Tricampeon’ – and also ensure that he does not eclipse Lionel Messi – while Eto’o has allegedly demanded €13m from the San Siro outfit for a period of five years, or €65 million in total.

It is depressing but personally I'm not that worried.

Football is more than just whose got the big wallets. But we have to win something if we want to spend. Look at inter they have been serie A champs for past 3 seasons+ and that money eventually adds up. Juve are taking a huge risk by spending so much and if they dont' do well they will pay the consequences next season when they will be forced to do what we are doing right now.

We have to take our priorities in order.

1) Juve didn't spend huge after spending 2 seasons outside of the CL. They had to first pay off their debts and now they can spend. We are in the same situation. Yes right now we are not strong but next season we'll come out flashing cash as well. Its just the markets are crazy and in order to sign anyone good we gotta spend redicioluos. Look at Ibra. Do you really think hes worth 40 million and eto? I personally think hes worth 50 million max and thats pushing it.

2) Our squad right now is in a strange situation. We don't even know what kind of players we need because we don't know how milan will play. Maybe in leo's new system, we will need completely different players than we are used to with carlo. Thats why personally I think that we are a little hesitant on paying alot in fear that the player will not be able to adapt to the system.

3) After the freindlies in the USA. We will be able to really evaluate our situation and we'll be able to see what kind of players we need. Right now Fabiano is our target because Leo asked for him. He wasn't even on Galliani's wish list at the beginning of the season. So relax by August 1 we will be able to see who we will sign.

4) When the time comes down to it this season we will either sign our desired CF or we'll sign no one. No point wasting money on someone who could flop and hurt us later. But I think we'll sign someone good if we don't sign Fabiano.

We still have 30 million at least to spend, that i'm sure of.

Trez-Oddo shock exchange?

Friday 17 July, 2009

A surprising transfer rumour is emerging that Milan have offered Massimo Oddo in exchange for want-away Juventus striker David Trezeguet.

Both players are unsettled, but due to their huge wages are unable to find other clubs to accommodate them.

Oddo returned from his loan spell at Bayern Munich with the Germans deciding not to take up their option on the World Cup winner.

Trezeguet is increasingly crowded out after the arrival of Diego, but interest from Olympique Lyonnais and Marseille came to nothing.

Milan see this as a cost-effective way of ending their striker problem, as they are refusing to increase their £12.5m offer for Sevilla hitman Luis Fabiano.

A straight swap would allow both clubs to replenish their squads in needed areas at practically no cost.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani has proposed the exchange and is waiting for an answer.

What makes you say that? has Eto'o played in Serie A before or something? it's obvious it would be much harder for him in Serie A but to say he will 'flop'? I'm ready to bet he won't!

Eto needs a team like barcelona to flourish. He needs to be surrounded by players who create openings for him by occuping players into wide positions and opening he centre up. Secondly he also needs a good passer in order to deliver him the ball. Ibra is not the same. Ibra creates 90% of his chances himself. He doen=n't really service from anyone and that is what made him the best striker in Serie A because he wasn't dependent on players like Pirlo in order to work.

Eto is not the same. He can create chances for himself but the majority of the time he waits for the ball and then he can quickly turn a player and score but apart from that he can't do much without the delivery. Now Inter do not have players who can do the delivery he is used to. He goes from Xavi, messi, iniesta, henry to cambiasso motta, stankovic, muntari. The difference in quality is enormous.

Also lets not forget who they just signed, Milito who is the same thing as Eto. One of those guys will be forced to play the SS role that Ibra played and I have a good feeling Milito will be doing that. But the problem is milito cannot play that position either and at genoa he excelled because like borriello hes a pure CF who needs good delivery.

Mourinho already knows this so i'm guessing Inter have more signings or a new tactical set up on the way.

Its like Playing with 2 Inzaghi's up front. Its not gonna work if you know what i mean. Now Ibra at barca working is another story in itself because he can't play taht box striker they want. Eto's weakness was heading and winning aerial battles. Ibra can do that but he can't play the single striker by himself.

So its gonna be interesting how this will work out. I have a feeling that Barca will use him messi and henry in a free flow moving formation where they can move around the field and not have a set position.
Bluesummers
If Eto had come to milan, he would have had the same or higher scoring tally he had last season. Since he would be recieving 100% of the passes and hes a great finisher, he would easily reach 30 goals. But oh well we'll see how he does at inter. I don't think he'll do as good as he did at barca, i'm sure of that.

Inter midfielder Amantino Mancini has underlined his intention to silence his critics and prove his worth to the club.

The Brazilian winger has been constantly linked with a move away from the San Siro after a relatively poor campaign since joining from Roma last year.

He was used sparingly by Jose Mourinho, fuelling speculation he would be on his way out.

Reports in England claim West Ham United are keen on him, but Mancini is enthusiastic about staying, aiming to claim a place in the team and forge a bond with the club's jersey.

"I want to remain here as I want to get revenge for last year's negative period," Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

"I hope to be a protagonist and I am fine here at Inter. I have no intention of changing shirt.

"Things will be different next season as I want to return to being the Mancini who played at Roma. I have faith and I am focussed on working hard."

I know what you're saying. but there's quite a distance between him turning out a flop and not just being as good as he was in Spain. it looks much easier to score goals in Spain. there's so much space given to strikers. and when you're at Barca, there's so many perfect assists coming your way. so, Eto'o won't score +30 goals but I'm sure if everything goes normal, he will get +20. and that's not a flop's record in Italy.

I dont think he'll reach 20. He'll get double digits but I doubt 20. Milito will outscore him. We'll see though I could be wrong and he could turn into serie A's best striker. It all depends on what mourinho does. He is a genius so i'm sure he will make Eto work. But i have my doubts.

Moratti: "Great rapport with Laporta"

MILAN - Massimo Moratti spoke briefly to Sky Sport Italia after this Thursday evening's meeting with Barcelona president and the Catalan club's sporting director Txiki Beguiristain.

This is what the Inter president had to say:

President, is it true?
"At the end of last season when the championship ended, I and Laporta said we would meet soon. I wasn't expecting to see him this evening, but he was passing through Milan. We concluded negotiations for Maxwell and I'm pleased he's going to play for a great club like Barcelona because he's an excellent player. Now we are trying to conclude for Hleb, and we obviously talked about other things because for them it was interesting to know something about Ibrahimovic. We also spoke about Eto'o to understand if it's possible to do a deal with these two players. But this meeting was something between two presidents to understand if there are other possibilities to work together."

What are the possibilities of Zlatan Ibrahimovic going to play for Barcelona?
"There's no need for percentages. I think it's to do with the desire of the player and the rapport that exists between myself and Laporta. We will see."

Eto'o to Inter. A possibility?
"If an operation of this kind was carried out, it would regard both players."

Will there be another meeting with Laporta?
"Maybe we will meet halfway. No meetings have been arranged."

All this situation about Milan make me despret, we should bid 25 Mil € for Dzeko and finish story about that, i spoke with Edin, he will sign new deal with Wolfsburg that will alove him to go on January for 20Mil € if they don't qualife for secound stage of CL... He have signed preagrement with Milan and he will go in the next transfer window 99%...

i really agree with having paloschi back, i don't fancy the idea of him developing at parma and then we go rushing back to buy parma's half of his ownership for 10mil euros like we did we marco b. call him back and who knows maybe he'll mature as rapidly as pato is doing.

swapping oddo for trez at this point in time is a good idea to me,
why??? -oddo's not gonna add that much value to the overall squad strength, trez hasn't got age on his side but fabiano's also officially 28/29 & he won't come cheap+ trez gives aerial options and won't demand a starting role as i don't think we gotten anything out of borriello yet, he's also serie A tested&trusted, so let's go for him& save up for hernanes(if recent reports are any thing to go buy we'd get him for a fair price) i say all these with an unbiased view.

The Brazilian seems to be working overtime as he tries to get back to his best...

AC Milan athletic coach Daniele Tognaccini has given Ronaldinho's work rate in pre-season the thumbs up after the Brazilian came under heavy criticism from players and club officials.

Rossoneri chief Silvio Berlusconi got the ball rolling after telling the Brazilian to make more of an effort. Clarence Seedorf then followed by telling his team-mate to work harder. It appears as if 'Dinho has followed their advice as Tognaccini gives his views.

"Ronaldinho is working well and in line with the others. He has been working hard and with intensity in all the training sessions," the coach told the club's official website.

"The injured players, [Daniele Bonera, Christian Abbiati and Kakhaber Kaladze] are continuing with their special programme of recovery."

The squad took part in their last Milanello training session today and they are now expected to fly to the USA later tonight for their summer tour there.

I don't recall hearing anything about Milan's financial woes two and a half years ago.

Yeah madrid wanted him and they were willing to pay a ridicilous price for him. I doubt any club in europe would pay 1 million for Dida. I wouldn't mind if he stayed another year but you should remember his place on this team. He is a second string goalie to an average at best first string goalie.
