Mediaset is reporting that Lazio are only willing to accept a straight cash offer for De Silvestri and that he's the only real Milan market goal.

Both Oddo and Kaladze's names were put forward as possible technical counterparts, the problem being that Milan would probably have to pay some of their high wages, which are above Lazio's pay scale. Unless this happens, the players will likely stay put.

The ball is therefore in Galliani's court: if he wants the player, he has to cough up the money, estimated at roughly 7 mln.

I was very clear with Oddo, just as I was with [recently departed goalkeeper Zeljko] Kalac. I told him if he finds a new more suitable club then he should jump at it, because there is already a set situation here.

Milan are still keen to sign Lazio defender Lorenzo De Silvestri, but they are still pondering over how to go about the move.

According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, both the Rossoneri and the Romans are ready to sit down and open up some dialogue for the Italian youngster.

However, Massimo Oddo is holding up the move. Coach Leonardo considered sending Oddo back to his former club, but the stopper is not interested. Unless Milan resolve the Oddo question, De Silvestri is likely to stay in Rome.

In addition, it is said Lazio are not keen on the player's return because president Claudio Lotito does not want to shell out on mega-wages. Lotito would rather take on Ignazio Abate as part of the De Silvestri deal, but Milan do not want to deprive themselves of the midfielder.

Abate has been making rapid progress, and he is seen as key in Leonardo's plans.

The only other option for the Brazilian coach would be to buy De Silvestri in a straight cash deal.

Milan have been having trouble trying to offload Oddo, who has reportedly refused moves to Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and Panathinaikos. Despite his reluctance to move, there may yet be hope of a resolution. The latest reports in Italy suggest Fiorentina have laid their eyes on the right-back.

Chelsea have reportedly solidified their interest in the AC Milan forward, Alexandre Pato, and are rumoured to be gearing up for a €46m offer to the San Siro side.

Sampdoria talisman Antonio Cassano has discussed the war of words between Italy coach Marcello Lippi and Inter boss Jose Mourinho, claiming that they do have some common ground.

Personally I dont mind this. It'll give us more options in midfield. Yes a creative mid like hernanes would be the first choice but Diarra on Loan is not bad. He can act as cover and if he does well we could buy him. I don't see the risk in this deal.

Oddo not called-up? With Massimo I have always spoken and I had done so also with Kalac. Right from the start I told him that I had some ideas and that if he had found a better place than the one of Milan today, we could have spoke about it. He has always worked hard in all of the moments of the preparation and this is very important. The transfer market is open. If he had to find a better place we'll see. De Silvestri? In the transfer market one thing is tied to another, we must see. We have to wait.

Before we got Pato, I'd have liked Cassano. But now with Pato in, we're just looking at unnecessary competition for that left side.

Their game is very different in my view and I believe they could play effectively in the same team but I don't want to see Cassano anywhere near Milan!
