He wanted him the season we got Brocchi I think. He wanted to give more protection to Pirlo ,since Ambro was always out and Rino was our only player for the position. So that's a gap of 2-3 years, in which Emerson played in Juve, got jeered for Calciopoli, went to Madrid, got injured, out of touch and out of fitness. Then he came to Milan so Galliani could say we landed the player Carlo always wanted.

But sometimes I think it was ok. I see Milan: Debt- 0. And I'm kinda satisfied.
dst
Emerson was pretty mediocre at Juventus. Even if we had him back then he would add nothing to the squad.

Yeah we don't have a debt but had Galliani made a couple moves when he ought to he would not be crying now about Osvaldo's 40m goal...
Zed.D
All in all Emerson was pretty an overrated player. I mean look at the clubs he played at... Roma, Juventus, Real, Milan. three of which are amongst Europe's most prestigious clubs. I know of many better players who never played in so many great clubs.

QUOTE (MizNelson @ Apr 28 2009, 10:28 PM) *
These Mandanda rumors are BS. Besides the team's familiar stubbornness in not bringing in new GK help, this guy is young and unknown, which is of course a death knell in itself for anyone with aspirations of coming here. Plus, and in no way is this a racist comment, I can't see Milan signing another black keeper, given all the hate towards Dida over the past few years during good times and bad. There's a lot of pressure from the fans to have Italian talent between the sticks, be it Marchetti or whomever.

Come on now, that's simply not true. First of all Mandanda is not unknown, he's the French nr 1 goalkeeper ahead of Frey and Lloris. Second impliying that Milan is some how racist in their signings is rediculess, Dida was and still is a great keeper, but the occasional 'oops' moment wasn't exactly helping his reputation. Look at Valdez in Barcelona, he's a bit like Dida, but he's Catalan, yet the fans don't exactly like him.

i can relate. to be fair, emerson was impressive in rome and decent at juve. however, sh!te at madrid, and therefore him coming to milan was a truly heinous decision.

and yup. i'm sure miznelson's comment was tongue in cheek. race isn't a factor. Gilardino received the same kind of ridicule that has come dida's way, and you can't say some of it isn't deserved.

Milannews is reporting that Milan may pick up Crespo on a free.

Don't so much mind for his footballing skills - Crespo is a good striker and a good bench option (though he may not want to be that), but I remember the repeated 'Milan Vaffa' comments and that makes me not so much want him.

Another short term option who really isn't needed IMO. I would rather bring Paloschi back and give him time in Coppa and smaller Serie A games. And as for the comments I remember a certain Milan player singing jump if you hate Milan(I think that was how it went) while he was at Juve.

Transfer bits from tuttomercatoweb and mediaset:
* Agger has apparently refused a contract renewal with the dirtyrottenscousers.
* Morientes may be of interest to Milan.

Agger has apparently agreed a new deal with liverfool - Skysports

I'm not really too bothered as I never really rated him that highly, I would rather put all our efforts into signing Santacroce instead.

Agreed, Iross. I rather like Santacroce. Not too sure Napoli'd be willing to part with him though.

And yeah, Abbiati did do that. But he's a lesser evil in my opinion -- he's done a decent enough job and the focus should really be on defenders, where there's a huge need, not on any other position (though a good striker would be useful).

I hope not. he's not the Crespo of 2005 and beside that, I remember he didn't have many nice words to say about us once he returned to his beloved Inter.

If we want a freebie Argie, Cruz is a much better option IMO. and if we're willing to finally dig into our pockets for a good, strong, goal-poaching striker who can also be an aerial threat, Diego Milito. but I know he will end up at Inter and will make them just stronger (who knows Inter may use Cruz as part of the deal with Genoa) and we will be left wondering what went wrong once we're in the middle of the season again.
Tennie
I actually wouldn't mind Cruz even if he's one of the cugini. He's got a good nose for goal.
gal_kenny
Guys i actually dreamt that Paloschi really turned out to be WC...
gal_kenny
Guys Dzeko scored a hat trick today against Hoffenheim, the team that was at d top of d Bundes liga few months ago...
MizNelson
Crespo's actions were because he was committed to staying at Milan but the team weren't; they pussyfooted on whether he should stay or go way too long.

Abs was just being a pinhead that day, but he was simply caught up in the excitement of the moment after winning the (later revoked) Scudetto with Juve.

Agreed on the new defender part, IMO that is our weakest area. As for the striker, I would bring Paloschi back giving us Pato, Paloschi and Borriello with Pippo as backup, IMO that is a very strong attack.

I would like us to sign a young and promising GK as well.
Tennie
I'd prefer Fiorillo from Samp if we're going for a keeper but...well, today's rumor is that we're looking at Marco Amelia. Could be worse.

Also today, there's a lot of speculation that Mexes will leave Roma for Milan (today's reason is because Roma are almost certainly not going to make the CL next year).

yep, i also read yesterday an interview with three experts in predicting transfer moves, i dont know, one from tuttosport, one from gazetta and one i dont know from where, and they sad that milan will sign Mexes for sure and maybe also Adebayor.... bbbbb, we will see...
MizNelson
We don't need another inconsistent keeper in our ranks in Amelia. Even Abs is better than him right now.
Jack Sparrow
I'd take Paloschi back, if we can figure out a way to include Kaka and R80 in our attack. Otherwise, if our mid-field is firing blanks again and/or shackled, I fear it might be too much pressure on him. Since in such situations the striker is expected to make the difference. Pato's got the skill to do it, but does Paloschi?

I don't want the pressure of the situation to destroy his confidence.
Zed.D
Should we call BS on this?

http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009...to-milan-report

I don't have a problem with Adebayor and I think he's not as bad as some say, but €34m is absolutely ridiculous!
Tennie
Yes, I think we should. smile.gif Ancelotti, Galliani (and I think Berlu too) have all come out to say 'no to Adebayor'.

I heard good things about Amelia a couple of years ago, IIRC he was going to be the next Buffon! Yet since then he has slid into obscurity. He is still young and has the chance to regain top form but it is a gamble.

As for Mexes...a big fat no thanks! IMO he is definitely not Milan class. He isn't that good a defender and hasn't got the right mentality to succeed at Milan. He would also cost a lot. I would sooner have someone like Santacroce who is young and promising.

I agree with your opinion on Mexes' quality... but I think Napoli would ask a lot for Santa, they'd probably cost the same.

Guys Gourcuff really deserves to be recalled..I wish he wishes to come back here...He scored on his debut showed signs of becoming really great...now look at him...Seedorf has fewer years ahead of him so we need young players and we should let go of this talent cuz he looks like he's definitely gonna get better...Kaka, pato, Gourcuff, Paloschi are d future.....really..Pirlo is turning 30...not many players would be keeping up....He really deserves it and should he come and start really playing better than seedorf...seedorf to return to d bench...cuz Gourcuff's played towards the left side and he did well...When he was still young i think the problem was that he was really trying to impress...now the talents and everything he has just shows on the pitch...He doesn't need to stress it out..everything would come naturally just being himself which so far this season has happened...FORZA GOURCUFF TO RETURN
vnata001
here's another name being linked with us. and frankly, whether or not the report is bogus - which it probably is - these are the kinds of players i like to see us targeting.

Moussa Dembele - AZ Alkmaar

...And Santacroce wouldbe worth it, while Mexes wouldn't. I watched the Napoli - merda game and Santacroce was absolutely immense, he showed that he has real class. He is still young as well so even if he did cost a lot it would be a long term investment. He is also half Italian/half Brazilian so would suit our policy of Italians/Brazilians tongue.gif
