Of course he won't. Until he makes about 5-6 years in here, there's no way he'll leave.

I think I can accept that. For all his quality, it ain't gonna last more than 10 years. The only striker I know who's still dangerous despite being in 30s is Ronaldo.
Fishdoll
Yes, zeddie. Today. smile.gif Along with various photos of the only-for-the-summer loan guys.
Zed.D
But the season ended just a week ago. they're already back to training?
Fishdoll
Yep, training with the various additions for the US tour. smile.gif

I wish my person weren't so busy, or I'd make her take me out to the airport to welcome the team tomorrow.

Do you know when the firs game of the tour is happening?
Fishdoll
Yes and I am a very pleased fish. I will BE at the game. It's Wednesday at 8pm Eastern time -- Milan will be playing DC United at RFK Stadium. Not so sure streams will be that easy to find, it only seems to be on Comcast Sportsnet telly.

SO jealous.

Dude, South Carolina isn't that far away. Drive up!
Dracoris
I would LOVE to but I can't get any of my peeps to go with me. Everyone is working and can't make the (8hr?) drive with me sad.gif
Fishdoll
Well, no cookies to the peeps, then!

Worse comes to worse, there's also the train. Might be cheaper than paying for gas up here.

AC MILAN, Pato: "I stay if Dinho stay"

Milan striker Alexandre Pato recently threw doubt on his future by claiming it was "too early" to say whether he would remain at the San Siro for next season. This morning to La Gazzetta dello Sport declared: "There isn't any problem, I will stay in Ac Milan, because I want to win something important. I want Champions and Scudetto".

"The only important things is that Ronaldinho stay".

http://www.footballpress.net/?action=read&idsel=62344

allright then, that settles it. Dinho stays.
X-Offender
The "I stay if Dinho stays" title is pure journalism bullshit. He said it'd be important if Dinho stays, not that he will leave as well if Dinho leaves.
Bluesummers
I can see him demanding a transfer if dinho leaves. He's def not going to stick around for pirlo and ambro.
X-Offender
Then let him go. If he's staying at Milan just for Dinho, kiss him goodbye and cash in a sweet 50m as well.
Linkman
Hmm, hmm.

I'd pass on that. I'd rather keep Dinho for a couple of years (even if he plays like ****) if it means we'll keep Pato.

wow really? Great idea... silvio will able to sign his favourite on a more long term deal. With that kind of money he's garuanteed to stick around for at least 5 years.

I belive that Dinho is going to stay and that mean that Pato is going to stay to but he's injurys, how many games did he play this season?
He got a future in front of him, hopefully in Milan even if that means that Dinho is going to stay
We might have a new Messi laugh.gif
X-Offender
I think Pato might surpass Messi in two years time, if he puts a little more effort in his performances.
Suhail 3
if pato is gonna be worth passing 50-60 million he better become a world beater and start winning games single handedly and scoring 20+ to justify why hes the next best thing

Milan need trophies and pato at the moment looks like our knight in shining armour high hopes for next season im still bitter he didnt get to go WC would have been so beneficial but oh well least he ll be fresh for next season
kurtsimonw
If Pato has yet another 'good, but not great' season next year I think we should seriously start considering big offers.

Is that some ironclad rule of football? Messi has already reached his prime, and he's only 22.
kurtsimonw
The age is irrelevant to me, though that will help us sell him for more. It's the injuries that bother me. 20 and already picking up injuries like this?

No he hasn't reached his prime. They say there is still more room for messi to grow.

also be realistic. We bought him for 22m and he was probably the best 18 year old in the world. If want to buy someone like Ganso who isn't as good as pato, we'll have to spend at least 25 to 30m.

We aren't in the position to be able to sell pato and still be okay from it. Our current mgmt aren't smart enough to invest money properly and when they do get it right once in a while they tend to f*ck it up in a way. Gourcuff/paloschi are examples.

Oh comon kurt, injuries are injuries. Players get them all the time.
X-Offender
We'll see next season. Like Kurt said, if he doesn't outperform his recent seasons and keeps on getting injured, then we should consider selling him. But I have faith in the kid, he won't let us down.

That's why you want to sell him right?

I still don't get why we're talking as if we are the Milan of a couple of years ago, a Milan who were more then happy to leave Rui Costa, Stam and Tomasson on the bench while still sweaping away with at least one trophy come the end of the season.

This is a time were we can't let any of our top players go because if they're sold the money won't go into eplacing them with better players and in our current squad there just isn't anyone at their level. There is no Kaka benching Rui, Sheva Pippo tearing it up so that Crespo and Tomasson are left on the bench, Maldini, Nesta and Cafu in defence that don't allow a player like Stam a look in.

We lose Nesta, Thiago, Pirlo, Dinho or Pato and we're mid-table quality at best. So I don't get where this arrogance is coming from, it's not like we're suddenly Real Madrid. Throwing away players that do the job more then well but still throwing them away just because they're not flashy enough
X-Offender
Pato has incredible potential, but somehow he struggles to express it. He had 2-3 good seasons since he's joined us, but nowhere near as good as what we expect from him. He has a very reluctant attitude on the field, which makes me wonder if he will ever explode in the big scene and take this team by the hand like Sheva and Kakà did at their time. It's true, he's only 20, but Messi at that age was already doing miracles. And Pato is no inferior to him in terms of potential and quality. This is my point.

Still, I already said I have faith in the kid and that he won't let us down, if you read my posts more carefully.

I agree with you on that

And even if you said that you had faith in him, in the same sentence you said we should sell him if he doesn't reach what is expected of him in 2 years time.

Maybe this is the best of what we'll see from Pato, he's still one hell of a player, and with our management's mentality selling him would mean we get great money but it's certainly not invested in the transfer market. Just like the big money we got for Sheva and Kaka.

Selling Pato at any point in time would be a massive step back for us, as we're not going to get anyone better, not with the ammount of money it would take to buy a young player that is on Pato's level
X-Offender
Thing is, when we sold Sheva, we had Kakà to back him up as our star player. And when we sold Kakà, we had Pato for that matter. So we were not left at the mercy of god. But if we sell Pato though, we won't have anyone important to rely on. So the management will think twice before making a decision. A team always needs a star player to lead them through success. At the moment, Pato is that player for us.

I don't really have faith in our current management to notice that little detail. They'll probably buy someone but not at the same level. It wouldn't make sense to sell Pato and spend probably just as much to buy a top class star player, when we all know that what they want is the money.
Zed.D
Messi plays in a completely different team and league... apparently no one can see that.

@ X-Off

Is it also some ironclad rule of football that any player who doesn't reach his prime before he's barely into his twenties should be sold?!

If memory serves, Messi used to get injured a lot in his first seasons with Barca (it was a similar muscular injury). good thing Barca didn't think like you about this.
kurtsimonw
It's not true either. Messi bearly played in his first season seeing as he was new to the first team. He played quite a bit in his 2nd season, though he was more of a sub. Since then he's played almost every game.

In his first few seasons he did get injured a lot, I think he had a gowth problem, that's why he always says he'll always be thankful to Barca for sticking with him.

The day Pato is sold will only be for money just like Kaka was sold. And really we shouldn't be wishing for it as I can't see us spending money to get someone that can come close to him. He had an injury plagued season, every player goes through that at one point or another, at one point Ambro was compared to glass as he used to spend entire months out with injuries. I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted to see him being sold just because he's injury prone wink.gif
X-Offender
But no one was willing to spend 50m on Ambro han. tongue.gif

I asked you a question, X-Off. if you don't want to answer at least tell me so I know.

Oh, I thought it was more of a rhetorical question. Anyway, I never said we should sell him this season. Or the season after. But if he doesn't evolve into a world class striker when he's reached 22, start getting worried.

Don't get me wrong peeps, Pato is my favorite Milan player, I would never want him sold. But it's all this ambition I have on the guy, I expect him to wonders and not just play "good" and score a "few goals". Get it?
