Compared to his potential.
Please enlighten me, how is that even a yardstick for what he does?!

I think Pato did live up to his potential (whatever it is) in his first 2 seasons. statistically speaking, he did even better than Messis or Hiuguains of world football (only mentioning this since people like to masturbate over the prospect of comparing Pato to them so much). no other teenage footballer in recent years, as far as I know, managed to score as many goals as Pato did when they were the same age.
This last season was a different story, as he spent about one/third of the season on the sidelines. still 14 goals in 25 games is not bad at all.
Statistics aside, he has scored many vital and/or brilliant goals since joining us, do I need to remind people of them?
Another interesting fact: no Milan striker in the past 3 seasons managed to score goals against as many diverse/different teams as Pato did - from the biggest teams out there (Inter, Juve, Real, Roma, Fiorentina, etc.) to the bottom-table ones (Siena, Reggina, Lazio, etc.). Pippo comes close but still doesn't match.
And the thing is, Milan has been nothing short of an inconsistent, sometimes even pathetic, team in these past seasons but Pato has showed he can perform nonetheless. I still remember comments like "Pato doesn't deserve the teammates around him" when he was about the only one trying and doing something positive.
If all of these are not good enough reasons to silence those who insist that he should be sold, I don't know what is. if people don't like Pato, they should just admit that and that stop bringing arguments that don't hold water.
