Pato Frustrated By Scoring 'Useless' Goals For Milan
Milan starlet Alexandre Pato is disappointed his impressive goalscoring form isn't helping his side to victory lately.

Perhaps the only positive thing about Milan's season so far has been the form of young striker Alexandre Pato, who seems destined for great things if his recent displays are anything to go by. At just 19 years of age, he is scoring goals left and right in Serie A, one of the toughest leagues in the world.

Yesterday against Sampdoria, he scored his 15th goal in all competitions for the Rossoneri this season, but once again it wasn't enough to bring them victory as their dire form continued.

"My goals aren't much use, we aren't winning, and this is what bothers me," he told the press today. "Too bad, I've already scored 15 goals this season, but many of them have been useless. To get out of this crisis we have to work hard. I am sure Milan will get out of this, and qualify for the next Champions League.

"In the first half I was too alone up front, then in the second half with [Filippo] Inzaghi's entrance it went better."

Sampdoria gained a 2-0 lead early in the second half, thanks to goals by Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini, so Pato's 80th minute header turned out to be a mere consolation goal.

Following that defeat Milan are still in third place with 48 points, but fourth-placed Fiorentina are just two points below so Carlo Ancelotti's side will have to watch their backs to maintain their position until the end of the season.

I know what he means but no goal is useless, I hope he keeps on netting them!

Pato is growing more and more each game. He is more technically skilled and faster than Kaka'. He is destined to be better than Kaka or even Ronaldo.

I agree man. I think he'll surpass them all. The only real competition talent wise I see for him is bojan and messi.

I'm really biased when it comes to Pato and what he could potentially become in the future, so I better keep my mouth shut biggrin.gif

Pato wants more protection

Saturday 7 March, 2009

Alexandre Pato feels the referees are not protecting him enough. “I don’t know what more they have to do for me to get a free kick.”

The Milan starlet is on fire at the moment with 15 goals in all competition so far this season, but that has made him a prime target.

“They try not to let me play quickly, but I don’t just get the ball anymore. Now everyone aims straight at my legs,” moaned the teenager on Milan Channel.

“I don’t know what more they have to do for me to get a free kick. It becomes difficult to play in these circumstances.

“Having said that, it is easy to score goals at Milan, as there are so many great players who put you in the best position to net. I also get to ‘steal’ secrets from giants like [Pippo] Inzaghi and [Andriy] Shevchenko, so I am incredibly lucky.”

David Beckham has agreed to extend his loan from LA Galaxy until the end of the season and an official announcement is expected over the weekend.

“I really want Beckham to stay,” continued Pato. “He is a great player and not just in a match situation. Off the field he’s a lovely guy who always helps me if I need something.

“On the pitch if I ask him for the ball in a certain position, he puts it in exactly the right spot.”

Pato always said that Ronaldo was his hero, so he must be pleased to see his former teammate return to the sport after a long injury lay-off in Brazil.

“We are friends and often chat, so of course I’m happy he is playing again. Now I would love him to get back to the Ronaldo we all knew – Il Fenomeno.”

Seriously...I don't like this superlatives. If he scores another goal someone will come out saying he'll be better than Maradonna and Pelé combined. At this stage he's a good player, maybe even a great one. But comparing him to Ronaldo or Kaká? It's way too early for that. We're talking about two players who both we're crowned as "World player of the year", Ronaldo even earned that trophy three times. Kaká basically won us the CL in 2007 while Ronaldo was by far Brazils most important player during the WC 2002. Pato is still miles away from such success.
And then...how can Bojan be a competition? He didn't even play for the most time of this season...
Il Capitano
Our Duck needs more protection from the refs. If I remember right in the game against Chievo they kicked Pato so much that he got injured and subbed.

Past does not need protection more than other talented players do. Last week, Pazzini was treated worse than Pato was.

Messi is the best young player I've ever seen with a considerable distance from the rest. He never was just a great talent in my opinion, he was amazing from his first match.

Pato is not that but it's all about where you're gonna get not where you start from.

I agree, it's too soon to talk about such things. Pato seems to have the potential but there's still a long long way to go.

I agree. though I think coming out of Barca's youth system AND playing in the Spanish league helped Messi's consistency a great deal, in recent years only he at a very young age has amazed me more than Pato. (that, however, doesn't mean I think he will be considered a greater player than Pato the day he retires! tongue.gif )

The same was said when people were comparing messi to the top players. Same with CR7 and Kaka. He's only 19, but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts preforming like messi. The kid has got the potential and talent to surpass all youngsters his age.

Its not early to be speculating because clubs are already knocking at our door for him and its only be 1 year and 2 months.

Pato is no longer looked as a youth prospect but is looked as a Worldclass youth striker like benzema.

why not? I mean who in our squad is better than him right now? Not even kaka deserves the praise pato does this season and Kaka is my favorite player.

If we sold him to madrid right now, that would just show how stupid we have become.

I predicted 16-19 goals.

Well, Pato didn't have the best start to the season, and until the matchday 13 he'd scored only 2 league goals. but tbh I never really got worried that he may not be a great potential after all. I got a bit worried cause I thought, after Yoann, he might be Carlo's next victim! but thankfully that didn't happen and Pato has now found his feet and as Jack mentioned it in the other thread, he's in Carlo's good books now. he's destined to be like Carlo's Kaka, rather than Carlo's Yoann.

As for exceeding my expectations, well, it definitely feels good biggrin.gif cause as it's no secret, I'm a fan of the kid. I feel happy because few thought he could do it. they doubted him and now they're proven wrong (not specifically talking about this board). I'm especially happy for that!

Pato Confident That Kaka And Ancelotti Will Remain At Milan

Milan are currently well-positioned in the league in third place and are looking extremely likely to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, after missing out to Fiorentina this term.

With their season all but over, much of the news coming from the Rossoneri camp of late has centred on transfer news, mainly concerning Kaka and coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Both have been linked with moves away from the club at the conclusion of the season, with the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea linked as possible destinations. Despite this, the club’s top scorer this season, Alexandre Pato, believes that both the trainer and the Brazilian playmaker will remain with the club next term.

“In January I was very scared with everything I read in the newspapers about the possible departure of Kaka,” Pato admitted in an interview with Milan Studio Sport.

“He made the right choice in deciding to stay here though, as this is, and will always be, his home. With him by my side I can learn so many things, and hopefully become a great player too.

“Ancelotti is another who always helps me, both in matches and in training. With this in mind, I will not be happy if he leaves either, and I don’t think he will, as he has a close bond with the club.”

The 19-year-old star went on to discuss his international future with Brazil, and the recent dramas surrounding his snub from Dunga’s starting line-up despite his outstanding form with Milan.

He said, “I am very happy to be called up to the Brazilian national team, so I do respect all those who stand before me in Dunga’s eyes.

“I will keep working hard, and do my best to ensure that in eighteen months time I am at the World Cup in South Africa.”

And the duckling has spoken. Kaka to stay cool.gif

Milan Starlet Alexandre Pato: I’ve Matured & I’m Ready To Tie The Knot

The 19-year-old dreams of winning the Champions League with the Rossoneri and revealed that he will soon be married.

Milan teenage talent Alexandre Pato feels he has matured as a footballer since joining the Diavoli last year and thinks that coach Carlo Ancelotti deserves all the credit.
“He was right in saying that I was not training properly,” the ‘Duck’ told Sportweek.

“For us Brazilians football is primarily entertainment, but at this level it cannot be just that. I understand that now and I think I am more prepared [for challenges ahead].”

Milan are ten points adrift of Serie A leaders Inter and will likely end the season empty-handed, however, Pato is confident that a rosy future lies ahead.

“I will be getting married to Stephanie very soon,” he confessed. “Then I want to win the Champions League and fly to Paris to receive the Ballon d’Or.

“But before that I want to become a first-team regular at Milan and I don’t care if I play as a first or second striker. I just want to play.”

I've been on a pro-Carlo kick all afternoon. So he's going to get married, and he's 19. Cool! cool.gif

Marriage is restraining in a good and bad way... in this case it's good. It's not that if you don't get married when you're young you're not going to become a successful player but by tying the knot you make sure you're not going to become an Adriano or Ronaldinho.

It's good that I'm sure of.

True, but not when you're 19!! it's too early... I hope they will at least think twice about having a baby... I don't want him to fall into the same trap Aguero did.
Rossoneri7
I believe it is his personal life. He is free to choose if he wants to get married or not. The fact that he has matured a lot at Milan as a player and to make this decision means he has matured into a young man.

I wish him all the best king.gif
dst
Yeah a baby would complicate things a little but I don't he's too young to marry. I mean... by general standards he is too young but for a footballer the sooner they settle down the better. Have in mind that the more successful one becomes the more sought after one gets... and this kid is developing fast, we don't want him to lose his mind. He looks logical already but marriage will ease his mind for sure and he'll be able to focus on Milan!
august_milan
kaka married his childhood sweetheart at the age of 23...its good that hes he knows what he wants and hes a comittied young lad but that doesnt mean he has to jump into anything...marriage is a life changing it could turn out good or bad, there is nothing wrong with waiting, cuz he will still be as focused and determined on the pitch married or not. although i do believe the less on a players mind the better.
