You have no idea what I think I am. tongue.gif

An excellent notion, captain. I'll have Trini do the honors (as he did an awesome job for the UFC thread). Besides, it's about time he started utilizing his 'Helper Status' powers and create some quality threads. I used to be a big fan of professional wrestling, and though currently not quite on the same level, I still watch is when I get a chance - particularly PPVs.

Oh, and Shawn Michaels and HHH don't have anything on Stone Cold. biggrin.gif 3:16 Hell Yeah, baby!

Not to worry, R7. Trini is in the house. cool.gif We'll deal with anything Jack throws at us. Hoo ha! I promise to fight till the last drop of Trini's blood.

First Bolded Part: Thanks! biggrin.gif
Second Bolded Part: huh.gif ...I guess I better get started then. unsure.gif

Stone Cold & HBK all the way btw for me!

Sorry for furthering this off-topicness zd! huh.gif blink.gif

Bah...the people's champion forever....even when he was heel we used to cheer for him...

All big Superstars take (and keep some) of their fans witch a face or heel change.
Austin, Rock, HBK, HHH, Bret Hart, etc. etc. etc.

okay I'm done now for sure I think zd. huh.gif

(btw - I made a WWE thread so we can carry on such convos concerning wrestling so that zd would get upset about us defacing Pato's thread tongue.gif)
...not to mention acid stating that I should make use of my newly promoted 'Helper Status' innocent.gif laugh.gif

6 goals so far, 2 in the last 2 matches. He can keep this up given the chance, maybe I expected too much from him by saying 20 goals at the end of the season. Now, I'll be happy if he can achieve 15 goals.
kurtsimonw
He'd have to 1) get a long run in the team and 2) play very well to get to 15 goals. By Carlo not doing 1), he'll not be able to do 2).
Zed.D
I remember I predicted 16 goals and I still think it's reachable if he stays away from long term injuries. (even though I didn't expect Milan to get eliminated from Coppa Italia (and probably in the near future, UEFA) so early. I counted on his goals in those competitions...)

THE 2008 SPEAKS CLEAR

12/23/2008 12:00:00 AM

Pato, Pato and again Pato. Seventeen times Pato. The 19-year-old tanet of Pato Branco played 2,560 minutes with Milan during 2008, practically 2 entire games. And his goals are 17, one every 151 minutes.

MILANELLO - Not even a year has passed since he has played his first game at Milan and Alexandre Pato has scored 17 goals in official games. It's true that between the league, Champions League and Uefa Cup, his official appearances are 41, but if we calculate the effective minutes played (2,560), the entire games of the Pato Branco talent are 29. An average higer, therefore, than a goal every two games.

Alexandre Pato during this season has scored eight goals: five at San Siro against Zurich, Lazio, Wolfsburg and Udinese, three away from home against Reggina, Torino and Juventus. His growth was therefore very awaited. That of last season, therefore, were not just a flash in the pan. All of which Milan had noticed from September to December 2007, when Patinho just trained, was real.

The 2008 speaks clearly: Pato had nine months of Italian football, from January to May and from September up to today. In these nine months there have been a couple of injuries (the longest one was to his ankle in Florence at the start of February) and the Olympics and various call-ups for the Brazilian national team. Well, in these nine months the figures are clear: nine goals in the league from January to May, six in the league plus two in Uefa from September to today. In total 17 goals.

There's still 21 matches to be played in Serie A, and less than a dozen in UEFA Cup. He is currently in-form and looked very confident by himself in recent matches. 7 goals remaining before reaching my expectation. Only an idiot would drop him on the bench now.

And he was only 18... Sometimes Ancelotti can be a real @sshole... I remember when he was criticizing him... And Pirlo has been horrible for 3 seasons now and I never hear Ancelotti say anything about that...
Fillipo Simone
Well, we don't wanna spoil him...it's important to learn handle criticism in an early age.
Zed.D
To criticize such a young player when he isn't doing badly by any means isn't the right thing to do.
Jack Sparrow
He's also praised him a lot recently. I could even say the criticism has acted as an impetus for Pato. So then it was the right thing to do. tongue.gif

Well, he's doing good so that must mean he's also under good treatment. Or do you wanna say Pato is turning good despite of Ancelotti?

Isn't the prevailing argument that the manager shouldn't be the player's friend??

So if you mean that Carlo is not Pato's friend and for that reason the Brazilian is doing well then that means you accept Carlo is making a mistake in having a close relationship with those players that constantly underperform.

theres a difference between openly criticizing a player when he hasnt been bad, and being his friend.

especially when certain ones are shielded from criticism just because he likes them or are older.
Fillipo Simone
Oh c'mmon who cares really what Carlo said about him weeks or months ago, Pato's doing good and that's what matter. You know, people are still people, it's not like every move, comment, slip-up or mistake sets his career.
Jack Sparrow
Maybe I'm being pig headed, but the fact is Pato has certainly improved. He came out himself and said, the coach had a point.

I still believe what I said some months ago about different strokes for different folks. Some people need a tough talking to, while some people don't function when it happens.

And the same Carlo did come out after the Udinese match and say this was potentially the best striker in the world, since he has everything speed, shot power etc.

Was he doing badly? Maybe not. But then again we don't know how good he is. Perhaps what is really good for Paloschi's standards might be just average for Pato.

I think Carlo's being held to blame for just about everything that happens here. Even when something good happens, it's about how Carlo almost screwed up, and it was a flight of angels that rescued us.
Zed.D
I personally don't think Carlo has done a bad job regarding Pato. but that doesn't mean Pato wouldn't have been much better now if he had played under a Wenger.

Carlo did OK overall. no objections from my side!

To be honest, he brings it on himself. If he was a guy that admitted he made a wrong decision, or blamed a defea on his tactics, I'm sure people would be more lenient with him. But the fact that he blames it on everyone and everything but himself and his tactics, and his stubberness in this just makes everyone look at him when things go wrong.

Can't say the same about everyone, but as far as I'm concerned, the only reason when I criticize Carlo is when his performance isn't up to the mark. Sure everyone is entitled to having a bad day in the office every now and then, but Carlo is different in that his decisions can affect the entire team. unsure.gif Maybe it's just his way, his style of playing laid back football, but what about him not motivating the squad? Or only giving chances to established players? Playing the Christmas tree? At the end of the day he's the one who made us finish 4th and 5th consecutively, despite the fact that the players themselves played crapped. It'll always be the coach in the eyes of the management, the fans, the media.

He's a very decent tactician, more so in Europe, and a fine coach at that. smile.gif This much I know. He still has my support, as long as he's heading the chair, that's the least I can do being a fan of the club. Sure he's made some weird choices, and as much as they hurt, I won't complain as long as the results are coming, and the players get along well with the coach. But some of the dirt he's thrown at, he brings it upon himself.

That's a good point. I've never ever seen Carlo admitting a mistake and taking the blame for a bad performance. and I mean NEVER.

He must be God.

10 goals

8 in Serie A
2 in UEFA Cup

And it's not even halfway through the season yet. he will probably end up scoring more goals than what I predicted (16).

Naturally. And TBH I think one of the problems this era carries is - "over-information" (don't consider this a lousy defense of our...well...bad or not up-to-date website).
