Nice interview with the kid in La Stampa today:

QUOTE

EDIT: Here's Fishdoll's translation:

Alexandre Pato has had enough, to him the criticism raining down on him and his Milan are excessive, and in this interview to La Stampa, he reinforces his ideas and his desire to win. Interviewed about his intense summer between the Confederations Cup, marriage, and the American tournament, the kid responds: ‘We can also add the fact that I’ve been criticized for my play, but I think it’s fair to remember that I’ve played for my national team and arrived after the others and thus haven’t finished preparation. Dunga’s criticism? I’ll respond to him when I’ve returned to the National team, preferably with an excellent performance on the pitch. Here we’re Milan and my thought is concentrated only on the objectives we should reach starting from this week with the beginning of the championship.’

Then the young Brazilian reaffirms his desire to remain at Milan: ‘I know that they wanted me at Chelsea, but I never thought of leaving. I talked to Ancelotti this summer, but was only able to reach him in London. When he said goodbye to my teammates in Florence after the last game of the season, I wasn’t there because I was doing antidoping. Afterwards we talked, and I’ll always be grateful for what he taught me but I’m not leaving, I’m staying with Leo.’

The kid then gave motivation to his team: ‘I say that you’re all wrong to not have faith in this team. You judge what happens in the games you’ve seen, we know how we’re working in training. We have quality and above all the will to do well. We don’t feel inferior to anyone.” Finally, Pato gave his objectives for this season: ‘I want to score more goals than last year, want to help my team to arrive at the CL finals and win the scudetto.’
Ro Rossonera
He's an ambitious one.

Have you guys seen this? It's all about him...they ask him a bunch of personal questions.

The one that surprised me the most was the fact of how many kids he wants...why doesn't he worry about losing his baby face first? unsure.gif

Aww that's a nice interview. Essie +1 cookie to Fishdoll!

He didn't say he wanted all of them right now!!

Last season Pato served his apprenticeship in Serie A - he is ready to become as good as Messi - I see so many similarities in their play.

I honestly feel he has that much potential. In fact, I'd say he could be better, as I don't consider Messi the world's best player. That honour probably goes to Iniesta for now.

What were our thoughts on Pato in his first Milan derby as 'our best player' and 'bright hope'?

I thought he had a bright first 20 minutes and looked right up for it, but pretty much faded along with the rest of the team soon as we went behind.

My one concern was his positioning - he seemed to be playing as a left winger as much as anything.

I don't think he can be expected to win these games on his own yet.

I know it's working for them, but it continues to disappoint me that Pato doesn't get a look in for the national team.

In a way it means he's fit for Milan, which is good, but he should be featuring more. Even as a sub.

Uppity Pato hands AC Milan new problem

After Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato is now causing grief for AC Milan management.

La Repubblica says Pato's behaviour during yesterday's 1-0 win over Bologna infuriated teammates and management. Pato created problems in defence with loose passing and also spoke back to senior teammates during the tense encounter. Not the actions expected from a 19 year-old, no matter how talented.

Asked about Pato's behaviour, coach Leonardo said: "His instincts are good, but he must learn to communicate in a reasoned manner."

Meanwhile, the Milan boss also revealed he'd spoken with Ronaldinho during the week.

"He is fine and has told me he doesn't want to leave," added the Brazilian.

Anybody saw anything along these lines? Coz I know La Repubblica usually stir things up for no reason.
Tennie
La Repubblica is a left-wing paper which likes to take swipes at Milan because of Berlusconi's politics. that said, I do think Pato did make a snarky comment (or appeared to do) when Pippo took the shot and missed while he, Pato, was wide open. That's the only thing I can recall offhand and one can hardly fault him for being annoyed at THAT.

Bah. (by the way, Pato is 20 not 19! get your facts straights before you start talking ****)

lol inzaghi gets greedy and pato flips because he could have scored and pato gets blamed? laugh.gif What has this sport become?
Zed.D
Pato too has been indifferent towards his teammates sometimes and I have seen him getting the same reactions from them. it's pretty normal in football. players do tend to overreact in the heat of the moment. stupid journalists who think they have spotted something important while it's happening in every game make me laugh... rolleyes.gif
dst
It happens all the time. That's why forwards score many goals anyway, because they're selfish.
LaPalma
I mean what did Pato expect? It's Pippo, he's one of the most selfish strikers in the history of the game. That's why he's so good. Pato is just a talented kid trying to compete with a legend.
dst
Every forward is selfish and every forward expects to be given the ball when in a good position (or not).
Zed.D
@ LaPalma

With all due respect to Pippo and his fans, but where was he at 19-20? last season Pato ended up with more goals than Pippo, and overall they were arguably the more difficult/better ones (his goals against Zurich, Lazio, Roma, Bremen, etc come to mind). I'm not taking away anything from Pippo. I couldn't even if I tried, he's a legend in his own right. he hasn't been my favorite kind of striker but I've always admired his determination and love for football at this age. however, I don't think Pato is trying to compete with him or the other way around for that matter. even if he is, I'd say he's been the more successful one; but he's certainly not. they're as different to each other as different can get anyway...
LaPalma
Pippo was in Serie C when he was Patos age. The latter is a gifted player, though he still has to learn a lot. When he's on Pippos level in 15 years I'll give him the same credit. But right now he's only a talented kid.

@dst:
No PERSON in the world is as selfish as Pippo. That's why he's such a great striker.
Jack Sparrow
sad.gif I'm sure Pippo has got a golden heart. So what if he's a little selfish on the field? I'm sure if I met him in a bar, he'd buy me a pint.

It's 2.5 and I think its enough for now, its not like the contract will be renewed in 4 years, they'll probably renew it next season and it will be better.

If we give him something like 5m now, imagine what he'll be asking for when he hits 25...
