What exactly do you mean 'write him off', Fillipo? blink.gif I mean, yes, he gets injured a lot, but he has been really decisive for us this season several times as many! these kinds of injuries will happen less if we show patience for a couple of years or so.

Write him off - meaning - that one time we won't be that fortunate and we'll see another Ronaldo happen. It's simplified, granted, but if this continues and Pato makes an average of 3-5 injuries pro season he won't sure last till Pippo's age.
Milan Are Brilliant
He's 21, he isn't going to grow now, well maybe the most minescule amount. He needs to be physically stronger, which is gym work etc. Though once you get these injuries the likelihood of them recurring again is quite likely, it's a worry as he's such a young player and quite a few are muscular.
Zed.D
@ Fillipo

Ronaldo? his injuries were different, weren't they? I mean just because someone is injury prone and Brazilian doesn't mean he may become another Ronaldo! that guy had a ****ed up knee, it's different (and worse, I'd think) from thigh problems. especially for someone young who's recently gotten quite big physically.

QUOTE
he won't sure last till Pippo's age.

95% of strikers don't last/play until they 37. so what? Pippo really isn't the most injury-free striker that's been out there either (oh wait, he's been out for almost the whole season rolleyes.gif )

The reason Pippo has lasted for so long is NOT because he doesn't get injured, it's because he loves the game... and himself.

Knees, Zed.D. sad.gif Both of them, one after the other!
CrazyMilanFan
what i read that ronaldo when he was a teenager at PSV he was given steriods injections for his knees which basically lead to all his knee problems sad.gif ... he was to youn at that time to be given those kind of injections. I think milan needs to handle pato in a much better way rather than rushing him. Probably that is why when he gets inured he is given a lot of time to recover. And if we have ronaldo case in our heads I am pretty sure Milan lab has that has well.
acid911
Yes, the PSV club management was at fault for his abrupt growth. sleep.gif Most of the goals R9 scored were with his quick reflexes and of course, strong mental strength. There was no reason for enhanced physical conditioning, at that time of his career at least. I think Ronaldo himself mentioned this in an interview.
drucurl
wow I didn't know Pato scored the same number of league goals as Ibrahimovic. All this without any penalties, missed penalties, CL choking, red cards, gloryhunting groupie fans, "assured starts", bench immunity, training ground fights, camel impersonations and homoerotic flirting by Pique cool.gif
William405
And Ibra's assists?
Fillipo Simone
So, let's bring the stats in, this will be fun - how many goals and assists does he have this season in how many matches?

He's scored 14 goals in 21 games. Quite impressive. No idea about the assists.

PS: That's Serie A stats.
acid911
It's 16 in 29 appearances total (14 in 22 league, 2 in 2 cup, and 5 European nights with 0 goals). wink.gif His closes neighbor in the league is Ibra, of course (who has 14 in 28 matches) and Robinho (12 in 30). We can safely say he is ruling the roost. Or roasting the competition. Whichever works.
Jack Bauer
In all competitions (Serie A, CL, Coppa):

Ibra - 20 goals (3 pen) and 12 assists in 39 games.

Pato - 16 goals (0 pen) and 2 assists in 29 games.

In terms of league goals, this is his best season yet and I can't help thinking what this record would be now if he hadn't got injured so frequently - and for such long periods.

As for assists, well, I can only remember one, to Seedorf vs Viola. I think that's about it biggrin.gif

I think it's a well known fact on here that I'm a Pato fanboy (not that I like this term!! but I like Pato the footballer) but you're biased both towards Pato and against Ibra (for example, quite a few people would argue that Pato is a CL chocker as well). it was a good, hilarious post nonetheless cool.gif
Fillipo Simone
Yep, there's a bit of a problem. CL and Ibra-Pato are not exactly the perfect match.
acid911
Maybe, but his two goals against Madrid in their backyard should hold on for me for another season. wub.gif Or two. But yeah, the guy definitely needs to step it up in Europe for other people to notice. As things stand, only people who follow Serie A (or a bit of Brazil NT) know about the potential of the duck.

Injured Pato still hopeful to play in Copa America

SAO PAULO (AP)—Brazil striker Alexandre Pato is optimistic he will be able to play in the Copa America despite a right shoulder injury sustained in the final Italian league match.

Pato told local media that he is “happy with the progress of his recovery” and will work hard to be fit in time for the South American tournament that begins in July.

AC Milan doctors had said the Brazilian would miss the Copa America because of the injury, but Brazil doctor Jose Luiz Runco said there still might be enough time for him to recover.

Runco said “it’s too early to rule him out” of the tournament.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes won’t announce the final Copa America squad until after Brazil plays Romania in a friendly on June 7.

I think he will miss the Copa, but we'll see...
Fillipo Simone
From a cold and rational viewpoint this is good for us, but I'd rather enjoy seeing him meld with the new Brazil there.

QUOTE (Football Italia)
Pato named in Copa squad

Brazil boss Mano Menezes has selected Milan’s Alexandre Pato in his squad for the Copa America despite concerns over his fitness.

The Rossoneri striker picked up a shoulder injury in the club’s last game of the season against Udinese on May 22.

Pato is one of six Serie A based players to be chosen, while Milan target Ganso of Santos has been picked too despite recent injury.

Inter have three players selected in the shape of Julio Cesar, Lucio and Douglas Maicon. Pato’s Milan teammates Robinho and Thiago Silva are also there.

The tournament kicks off on July 1 in Argentina where Brazil will be looking to defend the title they won in 2007.

The Selecao have won the last two championships and five of the previous six.

Goalkeepers: Victor (Gremio), Julio Cesar (Inter)

Defenders: Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (Inter), Andre Santos (Fenerbahce), Adriano (Barcelona), Lucio (Inter), Thiago Silva (Milan), David Luiz (Chelsea) Luisao (Benfica)

Midfielders: Lucas Leiva (Liverpool), Ramires (Chelsea), Sandro (Tottenham), Jadson (Shakhtar Donetsk), Elias (Atletico Madrid), Elano (Santos), Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos), Lucas Silva (Sao Paulo)

Forwards: Robinho (Milan), Pato (Milan), Fred (Fluminense), Neymar (Santos)

Good news. I hope if he fully recovers and gets to play, he earns it.
CHU-LIP
An attack of Robinho, Pato and Neymar must be really awesome. Just like a central defense of Thiago Silva and Lúcio.
Zed.D
Btw glad Ganso made it as well. I really wanted to see him at top level games.
acid911
This Menezes guy seems like a cool cucumber. king.gif Quite different from the earlier sour grapefruit Brazil had as their coach (the man who will not be named). While it was pretty much trivial slotting in Pato and Silva, still nice to see them in the squad. Let's hope they do well in Argentina.

And word on the street is that the Brazilian coach will give Ronaldo the final few minutes as a sub. cry.gif Oh the pain!
Fillipo Simone
Didn't Ronaldo just recently played his last Brazil match?

Yup, that was it. Grammar bites, I know. innocent.gif Should have written gave. But then again, I've been up for pretty much the whole day today, with no bed in sight. Busy with a few things. All things considered, I have liked Mano from the day he came on board.

At least no Melo in the team, that turd. Hope he never gets back into the NT again! dry.gif GTFO prick!

QUOTE
On the eve of the Copa America, Alexandre Pato’s interview with Spanish weekly Don Balon gave an insight into the striker’s current mood, and his vision of life at Milan.

Here is what Pato had to say, "I can’t deny it, I am delighted to have won the Italian league title with Milan. The scudetto was my dream the moment I put on the Milan shirt for the first time. I hope it is the first of what will be a long run of success. I love winning. During the season I suffered from a few injuries, but when I was sidelined, I was desperate to get back playing. Those injuries helped me understand that my body needed specific treatment and that if it was managed well, it would have brought me to peak fitness. Becoming stronger by strengthening your muscles is fundamental in modern football, because other than the skill aspect, it is based on physical power.

"I am a person who loves his work. After leaving Porto Alegre, I settled into life at Milan. I’ll never forget Ronaldo and Maldini, two idols of mine who became my team-mates. Now my aim is to win the Copa America with Brazil, after which the Italian Super Cup with Milan and the Champions League.

"There is a rejuvenation programme ongoing at Milan and I want to write my name in the history of the club. The Rossoneri fans have been very affectionate towards me, which is wonderful. Here at Milan, Paolo Maldini taught me many things, however, I would like to mention this summer the importance and the growth of Thiago Silva.

"I have a contract with Milan until 2014 and I want to stay here as long as they don’t get tired of me. Other than Italian football, I appreciate the technical game in Spain, the physical aspect of the English game – but the truth is I just love it at Milan and in Italy.”

This is a very big season for the Duck. So far his career is all about injuries and unfulfilled potential - he's never truly shown just how good he is except in glimpses. Which has been extremely frustrating. This is surely his season to finally step up and be a world class monster striker for us who opponents fear.

Regarding the Barbara thing, it's a bad idea and Bluesummers is spot on. It's like 2 people in an office getting together and it ending badly - one simply has to leave because you cannot have 2 exes in the same environment. I speak here from personal experience, in a way. It does not work, one has to go. Because feelings get in the way and yes, pettiness can start. So let's hope for everyone's sake that they work out and last at least for as long as Pato is at Milan.

I don't think he's making fun of anyone, I think it's thank you of sorts to the Chinese fans but it's stupid if that's what it is as I said above. In any case since Darunia says he's offended my opinion does not really matter.
