Has to be said that 5+ games into the new season and Pato is a mere shadow of what he was last year. Tail end of last season I rated him as one of the best in the world, that is how good he was looking.
Now he's not even the best striker at the club.
Pato has the ability, there is no doubt about that. But this current regime is crushing him - as I said a number of weeks ago and was strongly disagreed with by a few of you on here, he looks lost. He doesn't look happy, he is miles off form, and the pressures of the club on his shoulders are making him wither away, rather than responding.
Right now, it saddens me to say it, but Milan is the worst of the elite European clubs right now to get the best out of Pato and develop him properly.
Instead of carefully nurturing him, Leo is basically putting all our hopes on him - because Dinho sure isn't responding. It's not the right way to develop the lad - and I fear that all his potential to be maybe the best player in the world is going to fade because he wasn't trained properly.
For the sake of Pato's career, unless things change dramatically between now and January, and I can't see that happening, I would accept a major bid for him and let him go to a club where he can develop as he's meant to.
Leo's not the manager to get us out of this, and Pato's not capable of doing anything without help.

I still like Leo as a person, but I do believe it's easier to get a good manager than a god given talent. And I wouldn't sell Pato at all.
However if he does ask to leave, I'd sell him in a heartbeat. There's no point then. And the money can be used elsewhere.

With his brace in the 3-2 victory at the Bernabeu, Pato became the youngest ever Rossoneri player to score in the Champions League, aged 20 years and 49 days.
He is 15 days younger than the previous record holder Yoann Gourcuff, who was 20 years and 64 days old when they beat AEK Athens 3-0 on September 13 2006.(From Football Italia.)

He got to play in only two CL games two seasons ago, vs Arsenal, and last season there was no CL for us. what'd you expect?

Pato, as the rest of the team, seems to finally be getting over the loss of Kaka and starts to trust in himself rather wait for Ricky to feed it to him. Though AC still need a good ACM as Pirlo nor Ambrossini clearly not cutting it. Once the puzzle is complete (January hopefully) we will stuff maurinhos mouth with his own S@#$ next time we meet Inter.

Pato should work on his speedy first touches, he has ruined two great chances in the last two Serie A games. And, to avoid getting Zed mad, I'm not saying that he won't or that he can't or that he's not good enough for his age or anything else that is bad, I'm just mentioning it.

Let's hope this is enough.

Pato's dribbling is still deserting him - sometimes he manages to head up a head of steam, but inevitably it goes nowhere.
I think we should alter the way he is deployed, because recently he's being used as a right winger and I don't think that's getting the best from him.

No...I think he's young enough to learn that role, for one. And it's not like he's not getting scoring opportunities. He was played in the same position against Madrid, and he ripped Marcelo a new one.
Today was an offday for him.
Plus, it's not a winger. This is Leo channeling the old Brazil of Jair, Pele and Tostao. Pato will be our wing forward...and I like it. He's got the pace and the trickery.

He's not a winger. He's a RF. Its a similar role to what messi plays. Starts wide and then attacks the middle. A winger would attack down the side to the byline and either cross or pass. I've not seen him do that once.

So did Navas for Sevilla. Marcello is a terrible defender.

Maybe winger was the wrong word, I agree he doesn't cross, but he's operating in a position whereby we see him running at left backs and defenders and usually failing to beat them.
I feel he should be deployed as a SS.

I Want To Win Everything With AC Milan - Alexandre Pato
After a disappointing start to the season, AC Milan are now in pole position in their Champions League group and have risen to fourth place in the league.
While they are still nine points off league leaders Inter, as well as only one point ahead of third-placed Olympique Marseille in Europe, Alexandre Pato is thrilled with the improvement that the Rossoneri have made recently.
The young striker has also rediscovered his touch in front of goal in recent weeks, and is desperate to fire Leonardo's side to glory.
"I want to win the league and the Champions League, to always be doing well at Milan and to give my best. I am very happy here," he announced in an interview with Sky.
"I'm doing well on the right hand side [of Milan's 4-3-3 formation] and I'm doing my job for the coach and for all of my team-mates. I want to go back and help my team-mates in defence, I'm happy to do my work for them and for the team."
Milan travel to Lazio this weekend, and will be hoping for a repeat of last season's 3-0 victory in the Stadio Olimpico. While the Biancocelesti have not won in the league since August and were humbled by Villarreal on Thursday night, Pato is under no illusions as to the talent at their disposal.
"We know that it's a difficult game, but we have to do what we have been doing in training this week. We will go to Rome in order to get the three points because they are very important for us."

I'm falling for him.....slowly.....

Carlo Ancelotti: Alexandre Pato Stopped Milan From Playing Offensive Football
The Chelsea boss has claimed that he planned to create a flamboyant Rossoneri side last term. He was, however, prevented from doing so by Pato...
Milan’s resurgence in recent weeks has been largely attributed to coach Leonardo’s new attacking formation, with the likes of Clarence Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato and either Filippo Inzaghi or Marco Borriello all lining up in the starting XI.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says that the glue that holds it all together is Pato, who has agreed to a tactical change that he objected to last term.
“I had thought this [system] up last year,” ‘Carletto’ told Il Giornale.
“Then I decided to give up. And do you want to know why? Because Pato was against this experiment and thought that we would waste his talent by isolating him in that corner on the right flank.
“Leonardo did well to convince Pato and then find a solution that in fact magnifies the qualities of the lad.”
Ancelotti left the Rossoneri for Chelsea over the summer. His side are currently leading the way in the Premier League, five points clear of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Anyway, considering that these quotes are translated accurately, I have to say I feel very sorry for Carlo. he gave up on his ideas because the most junior member of the team didn't like it?

If it's true, it's pathetic (a rookie handled Pato but you couldn't). if it's not true, it's still pathetic (cause it'd be a bad excuse). no wonder why I never became his biggest fan.

Nov 16 2009, 06:46 PM
I don't believe Carlo said this for a second, he was barely playing Pato at times last season, the moment he stopped scoring and Pippo was fit he was back to the old Kaka, Seedorf, Pippo formation

I don't really think he had that mcuh influence on Carlo's decisions. Also we could never have played like this under Carlo. What continue to play Rino and Ambro as wingers, restricts Pirlo to just being a DM and continue to let the slowest player in the game to play in an attacking position?? I'm sure Carlo would have had the b@lls to play like this... yeah right!
