Van der Vaart as starter, and Seedorf as backup is what I want.

Van der Vaart, Afellay, Fer, De Zeeuw, Wijnaldum all are better midfield options than Drenthe. And then I only mentioned Dutch players...

all of these, while i love all of them, would cost 10M-15M more.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 4 2010, 07:21 PM) *
Very funny, mtl. Milner is a far better left back than Drenthe could ever dream of being, and he isn't even a left back by trade.

please i ressorted to go as low as possible with that blow

Just don't get it how much people watch Milner?? James was classic winger until this season, he took Gareth Barry place as DM he was never RB LB so don't know why u want this guy that much, for me Ashley Young is much more better.

Fair enough. But Drenthe at most is good as backup, and in a 4-3-3 his best position is leftback, where he is a liability. Because his best position is leftmidfielder in a 4-4-2. If 4-3-3 remains our formation, don't care how cheap he is: he doesn't fit in. The only reason to sign him is because he is cheap and still quite young, which makes him a last solution.

Because of his great youth tournament he got hyped. There is a difference between a hyped young player like Drenthe and a real prospect like Fer (who does fit in a 4-3-3). I don't know how much all these players on the world will cost, so it's hard to think of cheap alternatives. But please let him fit in a 3 man midfield.

Serigo Ramos is a Left defender right? him and Diarra coming to Milano was a joke ?
I like Drenthe and his indeed a midfielder and, a defender or a striker would be better
but it a better chance getting Drenthe for less the 10M, which time did Real but Drenthe from?

Sergio Ramos plays right- or centralback mostly. But he can play leftback.

i woulnd't bet on getting sergio ramos... the closest to a World beater we can get would be Torres and i expect Real to give liverpool benzema + cash for him

Tuttomercatoweb is quoting an interview from globoesporte with agent Mino Raiola. He says that Pato is sought after by two clubs (Chelsea and Real) and that he's not happy with the situation at Milan since the club hasn't won anything. link

Raiola isn't Pato's agent right now -- but there have been rumors the last couple of days that Pato may change agents.

I know I'll get alot of disagreement on this, but I really can't agree with the previous posts on this thread. If there was any deal involving Pato going to Madrid for either Casillas, Ramos or Higuain then we would be the ones putting cash in the deal, not them. All 3 are better at their jobs than Pato is at his. If Madrid offered any of those players for Pato in a swap we'd be mad not to do it.

I was mostly just joking, Kurt.wink.gif

Personally, I suspect the rumblings from Camp Pato are more of the 'I want more money' variety rather than the 'I want a transfer' variety. That said, if they're not...yeah. I'd probably be content with a straight swap for Casillas or Higuain or Ramos + $$$.

Are you serious?

Most certainly. I think this is a case of people being a little bias towards their own players.

Pato is, and will be, a great striker, there's no questioning that. But given the choice of him or Higuain? Despite being a French Argie, it's Gonzalo every day. The guy has only just turned 22 himself and has 24 league goals in 24 league games this season, he's outshinning Ronaldo at Madrid. He's just simply better than Pato in my view, which isn't an insult to Pato. He's scored 50 goals in the past 2 seasons and this one isn't over yet. Most underrated player on Earth right now (after James Milner wink.gif)

Sergio Ramos is one of the very best players in World football. I can not honestly think of one attribute he doesn't have. As well as being a clever footballer, he's an athlete. I can't think of a defender I'd rather have, most people just lack a few attributes like strength or speed, etc.

Casillas is a better GK than Pato is striker, but looking at it Pato is possibly worth more given that he's alot younger and his position is considered more valuable.

The fact Pato also seems very injury prone counts against him, as does his attitude. The above 3 all seem like model professionals, even with them playing for a club known for it's lack of class, but Pato seems to do too much talking for my liking.

So yes, I was being serious.

He'll grow out of it. Trust me.

A pato transfer is out of the question for me. The Kaka transfer, for example, is justifiable: despite being an excellent asset, he had already peaked his football and if we didn't sell him now, he would be worth much much less later on. In a way, it was the smart move.

But Pato? We can get a lot out of him in football before we start thinking about his worth in cash. Not to mention his value will double when we start performing with him scoring our goals.
Jack Sparrow
I'd sanction the sale, if somehow all the computers in Milan Lab actually managed to stay up for more than one hour without crashing, and determined that Pato was going to be injury prone for the rest of his career.

Otherwise I'd wait till he's 26 too. Even if he doesn't fetch us Kaka prices, he'd still be worth a lot more than what we bought him for. Heck, I suspect by the time he's 26, we won't even want to sell him.

Would I sell him for Kaka price. Oh definitely. I don't think prices will hit that astronomical high for sometime now. Trouble is, I'm not really convinced we'd 're-build' with that money.
rip
Higuain and VDV for Pato is a great deal. But like Jack says Pato is still young and he might turn out like sheva and we may never want to sell him.

As for Argies banned from Milan, remember Crespo.

Milan not willing to pay 40M for Dzeko

Rumours regarding the Bosnian international making a summer move to San Siro have plagued the German champions all season and Hoeness has confirmed he did speak to the Rossoneri but it seems the club’s valuation was too high for the Italians.

"We talked with AC Milan who have shown an interest but they are not willing to pay the amount that we requested and want us to lower our asking price," Hoeness said, according to Goal.com Italia.

“The amount to pay is clear though, it’s €40 million and will not change. Otherwise, Dzeko will remain with us. I always said that if we have to choose between money and the player, I'd still keep Edin here next year."

Milan, pronto l'assalto a Benzema. Pato al Real?

QUOTE

English (google translate):

Milan ready to assault Benzema. Pato Real?

QUOTE
Important, since all will be checked, the sensational rumors of market reported this morning by Catalan daily Sport. At the heart of the negotiations is the French Karim Benzema (22), so devastating in two seasons at the closed Lyon to Real Madrid dall'exploit Argentine Higuain. The player trans, which has collected only eight goals so far, has followed him from last summer from Manchester United. Ferguson last July offered 25 million euros to buy and only the interference - resulting in the highest bid - Real Madrid blew the deal. The Red Devils tried again this summer, but the front could be a new entrant. It's AC Milan, strong good relationship with the Merengues, is ready to fly the English club competition. Real - read - the Via Turati club will not offer money, but another player Alexandre Pato (20). The Brazilian would soon formalize Mino Raiola as his new attorney and is not excluded - as stated by him - even if his transfer year, the Rossoneri will close the season without winning titles.

Yup. Dzeko almost definitely seems out. And the comments he's making seem to confirm it. I suppose Damir can help us out more. But c'mon... 40 million for him? No way! I'd not pay 40 million for Torres or Zlatan even!

At least not with the kind of income we're getting.

Benzema for Pato??!! laugh.gif I pity the fool who lets that happen!
han2503
I think all this Pato talk is BS. Pato is not just an asset now, he's the future of Milan. Along with Thiago he's the only player that has more then 2 years of top football left in him from our entire squad.

Any ammount we get for Pato now would be robbery as he has so much more improvement ahead of him, he's only 20, by the time he's at 26 he'll be worth double what he is now.

And let's not kid ourselves with the swap deals for Real players, just like we didn't swap when we sold them Kaka, we won't swap if Pato goes there either. Milan management are greedy b@stards, they want the money fully in cash and if you have any hope of us spending that money on rebuilding the squad, think again, just like we don't know what happened to the Sheva and Kaka money because it certainly wasn't spent on the team, the same thing would happen with and Pato money we earn, they'll make another panic buy (Oliveira, Hunter) and that will be done with. We'd just end up with the weaker team and selling off our best players.
Fishdoll
I don't think the Barca paper (Sport is to Barca as Marca is to Real) is going to necessarily have accurate information on Real's transfer market. smile.gif So I'm callign bs on the article quoted above.

There are a couple of notes on tuttomercatoweb that Milan are making an offer for Stuttgart's Cacau. I hope this is wrong as the player is distinctly average.

There is also an article talking about Pedro Leon. La Liga guys -- is he really all that good?

I doubt any decent striker would have done much worse than Higuain with the players he has to feed him and the defending in Spain... just look at the goal he scored on Sunday, the defense was almost in midfield! Considering how badly he choked in the big and crucial match against Lyon I don't think he's underrated at all.

You don't watch much Real games do you? haven't you seen that 80% of Higuains goals are simple tap ins handed to him on a silver platter by his teammates?! I can't believe you prefer to have him in your team rather than Pato.

Look back at 2 years ago when Higuain was 20. he showed promise but he was nowhere as good as Pato is now (since you care about numbers so much, you might want to check his goalscoring record in his first 2 seasons). and he played for Real Madrid. in "La Liga".

I really like Gonzalo, he's become really good and I would like to see him at Milan (not in a swap deal involving Pato obviously), but I think Pato's got the potential to be become much bigger than him.

Yesterday's story was a plant -- in Brazil. The question now becomes whether it's just a fabrication from globoesporte or whether it's Pato's way of planning an exit strategy or getting a raise.

I had a reply typed out but my internet connection went when I pressed 'add reply' so lost the thing, so I'll keep it short.
*I've probably seen about 25 Madrid games in all competitions this season, Sky Sports shows pretty much every game they have.

*Higuain does not only score tap ins. HERE is a video of his goals this season. (Though the tap ins arguement does not hold water, that's what the very best strikers are good at doing, being in th right place at the right time).

*At 20 Higuain scored 8 league goals in 7 league starts, not a bad record. His league record at Madrid is better than Pato's is at Milan.

*Pato is always being mentioned in the papers about how he thinks he might have to move or being after a new contract. It would be very naive to think they're all made up, especially when he or the club have not denied most of them.

I know you're the Pato fanboy on here and would leap to his defense, but it still doesn't matter. Higuain is a better player now and there's such small age difference that I can't see Pato becoming that much better than Higuain.
Linkman
At least most of you are showing sense on the Pato issue. We have so much to gain by keeping him.

Plus Higuain is meh. I mean he's okay, but eh, doesn't impress me.

I never said we don't have anything to gain by keeping him, I just feel Higuain is a better player. The numbers tend to agree with me too.

So how about our management go after Higuain since they have given up of Dzeko. I think this may happen as Real are looking to buy Rooney this summer
Jack Sparrow
Real won't be buying that big. I don't think they have the finances to match last year's spending. To buy they'll have to sell.

One hope if Milan are not going to spend cash, is that the good relationship between clubs would enable us to get some players on loan. I'd love to have Benzema on loan. wink.gif

Kalstrom and Altintop would be great additions IMO
d'Arc.LP
I would take a lot of them, as they are free :
Kevin Kuranyi (CF, 28)
Hamit Altintop (CM/RM, 27)
Joe Cole (AMC/F/L, 28)
Metzelder (CB, 29)
Simplicio (CM/AM 30)
Santana (AMC/R 28)
Jack Sparrow
Is this Metzelder dude any good? I know he's German NT AND that he's injury prone. But how is he as a CB?
