Sokratis Papa... is an unreal defender. If we sign him, it would be absolutely amazing.
Here's some inside info on this guy:
Sokratis Papastathopoulos
Age= 22 (June 9, 1988)
Height= 1.85m
Position= CB/CDM
Genoa signed him when he was 19 for 4m Euros.
He is an unreal defender, very strong and big. Talented with a good sense of positioning and rarely puts a foot wrong. He's got grit and is quite physical. Can be at time card-prone. During the world cup he played 127 minutes for greece.
-----
He'd be a great addition if he were to come. He's ofcourse nowhere near Thiago Silva or Nesta's level but thats expected.
My CB rankings:
1) Nesta
2) Silva
3) Sokratis (if he joined)
4) Bonera
5) Yepes
6) Onyewu
7) Albertazzi
8) kaladze

Going into detail we will be able to offer him a contract of about 6 million per year, that figure could be tripled thanks to a direct participation in the marketing operations of the club. According to our calculations, its arrival could indeed generate approximately 45 million entries per year into the coffers of the company. "

He used to play for us and was our captain until 15. Then he went to Inter for 3 years and now he's back. As far as I can tell, the only reason inter sold him is because his contract runs out next year and they would get nothing for him.
We probably paid 5m for him alone is my guess and 2m for the other two.

Reports in Brazil claim Ronaldinho has verbally accepted a contract offer from Flamengo, meaning the two clubs must now agree terms if the former World Player of the Year is to return to his home country.
Ronaldinho has another year left on his contract in Italy but according to globoesporte.com is determined to leave the Rossoneri and return to his home country.
Though Ronaldinho enjoyed a renaissance of sorts when scoring 12 goals and claiming 14 assists in Serie A last season, his campaign ended with disappointment when Milan failed to maintain their title challenge and Dunga refused to name him in Brazil's World Cup squad.
Milan may welcome the chance to lift Ronaldinho off their wage bill as they plan to restructure their squad this summer, with Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic repeatedly cited as a possible target for the Rossoneri.
If Milan and Flamengo cannot reach an agreement, then it is reported that Ronaldinho has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave the San Siro for free in the January transfer window - a scenario that plays into Flamengo's hands, particularly as they have already agreed terms with the player.

But we all know that's not going to happen. If we do indeed sell Dinho we'll replace him with someone cheaper/older and willing to accept a smaller wage. Just like what happened with Kaka and Sheva. The only player we replaced with someone who is actually competent is Paolo (Silva) and that's only because he came on the cheap side and doesn't demand a huge wage

Well realistically speaking I really cannot think of anyone who:
a. Fits our budget.
b. Would accept the wage we're willing to offer.
c. And most importantly is as good as Dinho is (or at least somewhere near that level) if points A and B are met.

As far as replacing ronaldinho...
there's always that name Krasic that was popping up quite often last season and during pre-world cup rumor hype. He would cost 15 mil? Sounds like Juve gave up on him? He's definitely good. Whether he is world class - like Dinho absolutely is when in the mood - remains to be seen.
I really, really liked watching Eljero Elia this world cup. he may just be a little naive in his play, but his talent (dribbles, vision, crossing accuracy) is undeniable. Questions regarding his consistency and willingness track back remain though.
Joe Cole just seems like the kind of player our management would go for. His name is bigger than his abilities at this point, he's exactly at that point of his career - entering the twilight - where our management would swoop in for a free transfer, champion him as a great name of the sport, and hope he recovers his best. That said, I feel he should have played for England over lennon and wright phillips. I think he has talent, and i'd love it if we kept dinho AND brought in Joe Cole. But if dinho leaves and the only addition we make is joe cole, i'll be sad.
Lazzari? Doesn't he play on the wing sometimes? Or at least I've seen him pop up on the left wing and contribute to attacks for Cagliari that way..
I wish, but not gonna happen: Michel Bastos. In Pro Evolution: I have Bastos playing on the right, Pato cutting in from the left, and a Dzeko/Borriello CF rotation. I score lots :-).
Now, moving away from Dinho and onto other player replacements: does anyone else agree with me that Kevin Prince-Boateng would make for a nice Clarence Seedorf replacement?
Fishdoll
Jul 13 2010, 09:22 PM
This fish would give Elia and Krasic both a big fins up. Bastos....meh. He plays for Lyon and my person doesn't like them. (goodish player though and can make impressive little runs)
Also worth putting up on the 'not gonna happen' list (but nice to think about) are various of the young German players (Schweinsteiger, Muller, Ozil) - even if they were to be available, their price has almost certainly gone WAY up after the world cup.

If they drop 20m for him, I see no reason why we can't get back into the Dzeko race. In fact, if we sell him, I'll be highly disappointed if we don't. 30m + Gattuso I am almost certain would be accepted. I think the 'we want 60m' is bogus especially since Man City are about to drop all interest in him (
here). 20m from Dinho, add 10m that is just sitting in the coffers now and then throw in want-away Gattuso who Wolfsburg has shown interest in already (a $40m bid in total) and we have one of the most promising players in the world at the moment.
Depth Chart in order of importance:
Att: Pato, Dzeko, Borri, Inzaghi
DM: Pirlo, Ambro, Flam, Strasser
We still have plenty of depth in attack and DM through the sale of both players and the acquisition of Dzeko.
If Galliani can get off his "lets be friends with everyone" and kick out the likes of Janku and Kaladze like a man we'd have enough to sign a decent RB or LB.
Backs: Antonini, New RB, Zambro, Oddo (With reduced wage)
With this plan we've created a team that is able to compete and integrated youth into the depth chart. I know writing this out is a lot easier said than done, but I would at least like to see some effort from these guys, which I feel is just not happening right now.
Pato Dzeko
Pirlo
Flamini Ambro Abate
Antonini Silva Nesta NewRB

http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/podolski...dasdasftb_9/TesWelcome! Podolski is a head scratcher for me. He looks so damn sharp in international competitions, but so damn lost for his club sides. If we get a more dynamic box to box midfielder, then podolski on the left would work. But replacing a departing Dinho with Podolski would, in my opinion, hurt. Dinho ensures possession much better.

Our managment want's to sell Ronaldinho so we can transfer new player.

Why would Krasic be a replacement for Ronaldinho? They even play on different positions.
About Podolski - he had a very promising season at Köln once, but after his Bayern move he underperformed. With Köln also last season; so we cannot be sure what would turn out with him. Still, I'd rather take and shot an see what would come out.
Anyway - selling almost everyone makes more sense then Ronaldinho. If we sell Gattuso we have Ambrosini and Flamini and Strasser and we can buy a new one, there are plenty of options. If we sell Huntelaar, same story. If we sell Ronaldinho we have no other option then buy a player who will not be on his level.

Why would Krasic be a replacement for Ronaldinho? They even play on different positions.
Umm, well they're both wing attackers. It's not like Krasic is a Center Back that we'd be asking to replace Dinho. Maybe not the exact same positions, since dinho plays as a left winger and krasic a right winger. But after all, they are wing-attackers. Dinho pops up on the right occasionally, just as Krasic pops up on the left occasionally, when the run of play necessitates.
A simple switch, putting Pato on the left (allowing him to cut in onto his right, effectively making him a far more dangerous attacker - similar to how Robben and Messi are played) and playing Krasic on the right would effectively replace Dinho's presence in attack.
See? Simple.
Why are we so worried about REPLACING DINHO all of a sudden. When Kaka left, we effectively replaced him with a player (in Dinho - LWF) who is not exactly like Kaka, but with a formation switch (moving Pato from SS to RW) made it work. The same could happen if Dinho left. Hence, Krasic would be a viable replacement, in theory. Whether that translates to similar levels of quality is a question mark that hinges on Krasic adapting to Serie A (something that Dinho took a good season to do).
Oh yea btw, nobody is underrating Pastore. He's a quality player and extremely young. Maybe not of Dinho's stature yet, but certainly will be. When people say replace Dinho with Pastore, it's also considering the age factor, and the tactical realignment (4-3-3 back to the time-tested 4-3-1-2). After all, Dinho's got 1 maybe 2 more years of top level contribution. Pastore's got about 8. If we were to make a rational decision about our future, and had an option of getting Pastore instead of Dinho - the decision would be Pastore. If you don't rate him, you probably haven't watched him.

Krasić for Dinho would be the ideal move. First, because we'd be switching Pato to the left where he's much more dangerous and deadly than on the right. Second, Krasić doesn't cost more than 15m, thus considering we'd sell Dinho for around the same price, we wouldn't be at a loss. Third, Krasić is someone who runs a lot and tracks back a lot, unlike fatty.

Isn't Krasic already set for Juventus? It isn't official yet, but yesterday, one of their board members confirmed Krasic and Dzeko could be on their way to Turin. Which is funny, because they both support Milan and were so close to San Siro. Anyways, I don't think switching Pato to the left is in any way better than bringing him back to the support striker position. With that in mind, my suggestion for Ronaldinho /or Seedorf for that matter/ replacement has always been Stevan Jovetić. He can play behind Borriello and Pato, he could play as a left midfielder, he could play a Seedorf-like role any time, he could be a striker as well. The Serie A experience matters as well. I find it strange that there are almost no rumors about him this summer. I guess he is either completely unsellable /which is sad since Fio will only get weaker now that Prandelli is gone/, or for some weird reason, nobody is impressed with him because of Fio's disastrous season in Serie A. Berlu should forget the "big star" crap and provide money for one talented young midfielder /Jovetic/ and a right back /De Silvestri, Van Der Wiel/. It will be more than enough if we pay more attetion to our primavera players. Andrea De Vito could be Antonini's alternative, Strasser for Rino and Romagnoli/Albertazzi for Kaladze. Verdi, Zigoni, Addiah, Oduamadi, Legati and our new purchase, Fossati, will go somewhere on loan, but some of them will definetely return and be part of the first team. Paloschi and Astori will return new summer as well.
