I'm not to sure what to make of the Robinho rumors. I wouldn't really be against him coming but at the same time I don't want him at the expense of Boriello.
You would forego Robinho, one of the best young attacking players in the world and a star of the Brazilian National team (they're not bad, fwiw) for a backup forward...?
I'm not sure I understand the line of thinking here. Besides which, Bori's desire to leave was tied to the arrival of Ibra and doesn't really have anything to do with Robinho - other than obviously rendering him even more unnecessary.
I think people are making too much of Robinho's lack of success at Man City. That was a dysfunctional environment and he really never adapted to England. He has been outstanding on loan back with Santos. He's a versatile offensive weapon and he's just going to get better. Not to mention the off the field benefits... This would mark a Galacticos-like buying spree for Milan (and somewhat on the cheap) that really puts this side back into the forefront on the international stage. The on-field benefits... well, how would you like to add an "8" on the sleeve?

I would still like him in the team as I like his characteristics as a forward
I'm sure we can find someone else to blow easy opportunities in front of the goal.

I do agree Bori leaving would hurt. We'd be completely without a backup target striker. If he leaves the depth chart would look something like:
-Ibra
-Pato
-Ronaldinho -(Robinho if he comes)
-(I'm assuming KJH leaves either way)
-Pippo
-uh... Oduamadi, maybe?
We wouldn't be particularly deep at forward and we really don't have anyone else around who can do what Ibra does. Not that anyone can do what he does, but we have no one who even plays similar - no one who can play with their back to the goal and be physical, distribute, etc... Dinho and a few others, maybe even Pirlo, can play a support forward role, but doing that and/or moving those guys out of other roles could drastically change how we play. So without Boriello we do lose something... and we suddenly look very thin up front.
Pippo is a fine backup, but he doesn't have that kind of game and can we count on him to play much if anyone gets hurt? I wouldn't want to bet on it. He's best used as an injection of energy off the bench after the hour mark, IMO. He's been great in that role and asking him to do more (other than occasional starts, especially during weeks when we have tough UCL matches on Tues/Wed) at this stage of his career is a bad idea.
With so little time left in the transfer window its gonna be hard to find a cheap replacement willing to take a bench role... especially a decent quality player (like Bori) who has that same kind of skill set... So, most likely they tell Bori to get over himself, I think.
