A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL NOTE
8/28/2010
MILAN – A.C. MILAN announces the acquisition of the player Zlatan Ibrahimovic from F.C. Barcelona, through a free loan with the option to purchase the athlete’s playing rights for € 24 million at the end of the season 2010-2011. The Swedish champion will go through the medical exams tomorrow morning, before signing the contract that will tie him to the Rossonero club for four years.

Free loan?!

Does that mean we pay no wages till next season?lol

Dude, I dunno if you've seen any game, but Amelia has been impressive in the pre-season.

Nah I’m yet to watch any of the preseason games although I have read reports and it seems as though he’s doing ok. I’m just basing my theory on his last season with Genoa. When they initially signed him I personally thought it was one of the coops of the season, but he performed below average all throughout. Hopefully he’ll start living up to his former promise with us though. I hope!

No, he comes with no obligation's to buy him in next season.

As much as I was against this move, after learning it's a one year deal then we have the option to buy him for 24m I am quite happy about it now. Fairplay to Galliani for a very smart deal indeed.

This deal is simply amazing and it's "flop" proof

Sportmediaset reports Schalke should soon make official the signing of Huntelaar for 13m. When you think about it, we've signed Ibra for only 11m, which is quite amazing. It's so amazing, that I'm afraid we might have made any future deal with Berça regarding any of our players (Thiago, Pato)... unsure.gif

Yeah I wondered why the price had dropped so dramatically? I hope we didn't give them an 'incentive' to drop...

I'm not so thrilled about the content we got, but the price was excellent.

As for the gold inspriction, they could have gone a bit further and put a "ć" not a "c." It is his name after all.

Oh God, say it ain't so.

C'mon X-off, let's give uncle G some credit. Let's just assume he took them culés for a stroll in the park and got us what we needed.

I think after all the big talk by Raiola and Pep speaking out against Ibra, Barca had to play by our rules since they had their backs to the wall. They couldn't keep such a player on the team anymore and basically had to sell him on our terms.

Giving teams an 'option' on a player only means that should we decide to sell said player they'd get first priority

Hopefully not, I can take Ibra but I draw the line at Robinho.

Plus we need a creative force in attack Dinho is that, Robinho will only provide stepovers and pace, we don't really need that rolleyes.gif I'd only get Robinho as a Pato sub. There's a reason why he didn't make it in Man City and only managed one decent season at Real

I'll play Robinho's advocate as long as I have to. He is a very good player, among the most skilled dribblers nowadays, is very fast and has excellent finishing.

Why did he fail at Real? Well, let's face it, it's Real Madrid. He'd have an awesome game and then would be benched immediately after. Not to mention having a different coach each year, etc etc.

On Man City, he was basically alone. On his first season there, the only who would supply him with the occasional ball was Elano, who in all fairness is decent but hardly great. I admit I didn't see all that many matches, but when I did see them, the whole man city team was pathetic and you could see Robinho's frustration. He's not a player that can take the ball from midfield and make a run like, say, Kaká used to. He's a forward. Without a team, he's nothing.

I think his biggest presentation card is his constant workrate and goal scoring with the verdeamarela. It's why I rate him.

...Now that's all about Robinho being a good player, but whether he's right for us or we should sign him is a completely different story. I'm with han, Robinho would fit in Pato's spot in our formation. If the idea is to drop Ronaldinho in order to get Robinho, then it's a big thumbs down from me.

Not really sold on him never was.

And exaclty to the last point. If we remove Dinho for Robinho, we've lost our creative force in attack, we'd only have Pirlo, and he's already bogged down as it is, giving him such a burden would not be good.

Dinho, Ibra and Pato make a great combination, skill, power, pace, dribbling, vision, passing. That's why I think it will most likely work as a combo, putting in Robinho imo would be redundent as he offers just what Pato does, but there won't be anyone feeding him or Ibra, which would be a waste

I also prefer an attacking midfielder like Van der Vaart over a forward like Robinho when Ronaldinho leaves.

I think this have been one of the most successful transfer seasons we ever had, except not signing a Rb but I think Zambrotta can play well for another year, especially if he focuses only on defending. We've acquired a highly rated Central defender. We have Awesome Goalkeepers, the signing of Amelia helped. In midfield we took Boaetang as a loan, adding depth and youngsters for our aging mid, although I don't know if he will be in the starting 11 soon.Recently,we also took Ibra on a loan,a world class striker with great finishing skills,a thing we needed.
We also bought many highly rated youngsters which will be very useful in the future. We also discovered in the pre-season that we have some really great youngsters from the primavera, like Merkel,Verdi,Odu.My only complain would be that we needed 1more midfeilder, maybe the Vdv option is still available.
All of what we acquired was really for very good price.
Let's watch Milan tomorrow hoping we won't draw embarrassingly like Roma did.

23:05 - "This is the final that he wanted the philosopher Guardiola" The cryptic phrase is signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede made the award to the Spanish media on leaving the meeting decisive for its future, as reported by Spanish newspaper AS. The jab at his former coach shows how the Swede confirm, after the words post-Gamper, that its failure in Catalonia and its transfer to Milan would only be attributed to the leadership of the Barca team.

22:50 - There will be an official presentation to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after the public at the San Siro tomorrow. "It 's been called the national team and will now play against Sweden," Galliani from the explanation given for the failure event. Meanwhile, there's also other statements Raiola: "No severance pay from Barcelona for Ibrahimovic. Sorry for the Inter fans that perhaps they will be happy, but football is like that. Anyway, while it remained at Inter, Zlatan has given maximum for that shirt. " (Gazzetta.it)

22:20 - The official website reveals some background on Berlusconi's visit to the team. The President arrived at Milanello on board his helicopter at 19.30, met the coach Massimiliano Allegri and greeted all the members of the technical staff. Then, in the fireplace room, met the team which announced the acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He later received a call from Adriano Galliani who did speak directly with the player. In time to say goodbye phone is immediately taken the applause of all the players to new teammate. 20:20 pm, the President then left, as previously reported, the sports center of Milanello.

22:00 - Arrive also announced on the website of Barcelona: "Barcelona and Milan have agreed to the passage of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Italian club on loan for the entire 2010/11 season with the salary paid entirely by the Rossoneri. L ' Agreement provides an option for outright purchase by AC Milan in the summer for 24 million. Exploitation of the option by AC Milan to Barcelona will provide a savings of 60 million. The operation was possible thanks to the collaboration of player and the goodwill of its agent in the final stages of negotiations. "With the final sentence, you probably close as well Ibra operation, including the controversy between the Catalan club and Mino Raiola.

After Ajax, where he became an important player, after Juventus, his first Italian club, after Inter and Barcelona here he is, at Milan. We were close to getting him on more than one occasion... and today it finally becomes reality. We are at the happy end of a splendid negotiation conducted by Adriano Galliani, with the support of president Berlusconi. There were no ball and no goals in this match between Galliani and president Rosell, but it really was like the Milan CEO had played a great European football game in the past few days.

He always had everything neccessary to become one of ours, the premises were there... Class, technique, character. Better later than never, of course, but strange that Zlatan Ibrahimovic became a Milan player at the age of 28, and arrived only in 2010 at what could have been his home for years.

The first meeting was fatal, but at that time nothing came out of it. Summer 2001, four-team tournament at the Amsterdam Arena. Besides Ajax, Milan, Liverpool and Valencia are present. The first game is played by none others but Ajax and Milan. Rui Costa and Inzaghi wore the Rossoneri colours on the international scene for the first time. Milan wins thanks to a goal of the Portuguese playmaker, but at the end of the match Costacurta exclaims: “Have you seen that guy called Ibrahimovic?! He seems to be the new Van Basten...”.

The ball doesn’t stop rolling and in April 2003 Ajax and Milan meet again. This time not in a summer friendly, but in the quarterfinal of the Champions League. 0-0 is the final result of the first leg, played in the Netherlands, in which Pirlo and Seedorf get injured. With a patched-up midfield, but having Pippo and Sheva up front, Milan seems to be on the verge of elimination after having levelled the score twice. There’s a sparkling battle between Nesta and Zlatan Ibrahimovic... in the end Inzaghi decides the game and sends Milan to the next round.

And then, the summer of 2006. Without mentioning the outrageous injustice and deep bitterness regarding the off-field events, the night of August 9 is fundamental. After Milan’s 1-0 victory against Red Star, in the Champions Leage preliminary, the Rossonero Club is ready for the decisive assault to get Ibra. But Oriali is first to the player. And finally today... Welcome champion! We have long been waiting for you!

Its a good acquisition at a great bargain really.

Ibra and Robinho both have their problem of not being there every single game but Ibra brings a quality that we have lacked since Schevchenkos departure. And Ibra has proven that he can contribute in Serie A. I can't wait to watch them in action. Ibra, Dinho, and Pato are not the #1 best in the world as Milan are saying but up there and definitely entertaining to watch.

I was thinking about this earlier... Think you have to give some consideration to:

-Barca (Villa/Messi/Pedro or Bojan - or if we're talking slightly deeper key offensive players, Iniesta)
-Chelsea (Drogba/Anelka/Lampard or Malouda)
-Bayern (Ribery/Muller/Klose or Gomez)
-Atletico Madrid (Forlan/Aguero/Simao)
-Man City (They have a tremendous amount of fantastic players up front... don't forget they added Silva)

It really depends how much you open up the discussion... strictly three most forward? Or three top offensive weapons? If you count Iniesta with Messi and Villa... I don't see how that is beatable.

Samp, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter and Roma are not bad, either.

I think personally I'd give it to Barca for Spain, Chelsea England, and Inter for Italy. If our boys play as well as we hope and stay injury free, I think we'll take the Italian title.

As for #1 in the world, it almost depends on the day. I'd say Barca though if I had to pick.

Yeah, God knows who we would have got to dribble the ball nowhere and take all those penalties if he wasn't here. cool.gif

Ronaldinho's eccentric Brazilian act should play a lot better with Ibra around. I really felt like Dinho got in the way more than anything last year - though with moments of brilliance. His conditioning wasn't great, either, so he often used a sub up on us and lost effectiveness not long into the 2nd half. Much more excited about this year. After about the first 5 matches I saw with Dinho I thought "Ugh... this really doesn't fit. Square peg in a round hole." Or I thought "What the eff is he doing??? Do something with the ball! NO! Don't try some stupid backheel trick! Stop destroying the flow of the offense!!! Arghhhh" Now he makes a lot more sense and can really shine.
