Perhaps it's a little too soon to say that. Let's wait and see what he can really bring to our game before we give any judgments.

Fair enough.

Sokratis, Bonera and Abate are no RBs, and they have proven this over and over again in preseason where they have gotten ripped apart over and over again. Zambrotta is our only RB, and to me that is very concerning.

Boateng to me isn't really Milan quality, not starter qaulity imo, he's a great utility player but not starting material. And those Primavera kids you mentioned won't get a look in, don't let preseason fool you.

Imo with the 40m we're about to spend on Ibra we could have gotten 3 quality players for every position I have mentioned, and have extra change

Your spot on regarding the RB position, and your point about 40 mil going to 3 quality players is PRECISELY what I've been saying.

However, don't sleep on Boateng. This guy looks ripe to contribute and surprise his doubters. I am impressed with his indomitable work rate and desire, his sound technical abilities. Combine those with his physique, and I think we have got ourselves a uniquely balanced central midfielder. I think he'll be solid in his defensive duties, pass neatly, and surprise us with the occasional run and/or nice finish.

Like I said to X-Off, fair enough on the Boateng issue, maybe I was being too premature in my judgements.

But you're also forgetting that if he does have a good season we still have to buy him from Genoa... Also this must be a slap in the face to them, who took pity on us and bought him so they could loan him to us now we're about to fork out 40m on a single player

again, fair point. It looks so stupid that we were a few weeks ago masterful penny pinchers and proud of it, only for us to go and blow a huge sum of money on the market.

this move really will make galliani look silly in future negotiations with teams like genoa, when he's trying to explain how we're moving in a new direction, lets form a partnership...only for Berlu to act completely differently and marginalize Galliani's word to some degree. If he does well, we deserve to be held ransom for his transfer fee, come end of his loan.

Agreed, isn't that the entire basis of their relationship though? Galliani says/does one thing Silvio says something completely different or opposes to what Galliani does and Galliani is left looking like the idiot and backtracks on what ever has been said or done rolleyes.gif

..what do u mean, Ibrahimovic is Brilliant?
Rossoneri7
QUOTE (han2503 @ Aug 28 2010, 01:29 AM) *
I admire your confidence in the board. I certainly don't share that same confidence. Yes they're putting in a lot of money on the youths. But what wories me is if even 1/4 of the players we're buying and co-owning all over the place will get anywhere near our bench let alone break into the first team. We seem intent on buying every young player under the sun yet we don't have the confidence in them to let them get time with the first team. Paloschi imo is our most promising youngster to come out of the primavera fo a while now, and look where he is, imo if we were really serious about this we would have kept him with the team and let him develop with us.

And I know our President can afford it, no question, but he's unwilling to invest money on the team unless it's something that he wants, now whether that is in the best interest of the team or not doesn't matter as long as he gets what he wants.

Case in point the Ronnie transfer, now I'm not against it never was, the guy managed to turn my oppinion of him last season completely, but we all know Carlo never really wanted him, he made that pretty clear and the unwillingness on Carlo's part to even think up of a plan that would include Ronnie in it further drove that point home. Yet, Silvio wanted him at all costs and made it happen no matter how Carlo felt about the issue. Imo this show his lack of regard as to what is best for the team.

Like I said my big concern with this move is that we're literally putting in all that money on a player, money that we don't have, now yes Silvio is funding it, but if he really wanted what was best for the team, he would have given that money to Galliani and let him make some good deals for quality players for areas that also need stregthening, we need a RB badly, a box to box, someone to cover for Pirlo and a player to sub in for Pato and Dinho, we don't have any depth for these areas, yet they have been over looked while we're spending so much money on Ibra. And my biggest concern is that they will be overlooked once again next summer because we'll be scrounging around for cash to pay off the massive wage bill we now have on our shoulders

That is one badly photoshoped image biggrin.gif

han, its not we who are putting in the money biggrin.gif - That is still not written in stone yet, hence we can not go around arguing, until the deal is done, then we will know if it is 'we' as AC Milan, or Berlusconi.

Another point, the state of our team, like I said, no one likes this approach, but it will remain as it is, where we depend on our youth product. Now this project is new, it has just recently taken affect in 2008. And as I said, we wont see the fruits of this for more than 5 years from now.

The idea of Berlusconi putting in money to build a better team all around ? He has been doing that since he bought the club. Until, the club reached a point where it was totally dependent on Berlusconi to keep pumping in the cash. Which is not something I like, and I am sure it is not something any of us like. Because, if we are dependent solely on Berlusconi, and considering the state that our club is in, (inshallah not for a long time) imagine Berlusconi dies ... Do you think Marina would bring up Eur 40MM and hand it to Galliani ?

Do you honestly believe someone else will come in and buy the club ? A club that's equity is @ Eur -64MM ? Heck, wasn't that the reason Milan got bankrupt in the first place ? Before Silvio bought it ?

Our concern should not be a rightback nor a box to box midfielder ... Our concern is that the club doesn't saddle up the costs for this transfer. And for us to actually see our youth prospects flourishing in Serie A clubs, where we will finally have another source of income by way of co-ownership deals and direct sales. Otherwise, a rightback/box to box wont save us from bankruptcy dry.gif

Fair enough on what you're saying.

Like I said though, so the transfer fee is paid in full by Silvio, ok no probs there, what about his huge wage? I don't think Silvio will help out in that respect, just like he didn't help out with Dihno's wage, it will fall under the club budget. Which in turn will result in more losses and Silvio pumping in more cash to keep us a float. This is what I'm worried about.

So, if Berlusconi wants Ibrahimovic so much, why's the bid dropping 10 million from 40 to 30?

Inshallah, our fate will be better in the long run than it is for Inter. And in that aspect, I can assure you we will be the victors in the long run, as Inter have yet to establish a system that goes in line with Uefa's new scheme for the 2012 season.

Last night I was so sure that his signign was going to be announced. Galliani and Rosell had talks. Raiola and Galliani had talks. Ibra and Galliani had talks. All we had to do was for the Yes or No from Ibra.

Now things have changed. People's minds have changed. I'm starting to get an uneasy feeling about this and now with the 30m E thing and what Galliani said at the beginning of the negotations where he will stay until the very last day this will not end well....

We are going to force Barca into a position they will not want to be in and I hope we don't because it will cause our relationship with Barca to end.

If we push Barca and say 30 no 25m until the very last day. His agent Raiola is constantly blabbing in the media and insulting Barca the coach and the management and Ibra' reluctancy to patch things up with his coach or agree to a deal somewhere else like man city; things are going to turn out ugly.

Barca will be forced into selling him for cheap where they lose money (they paid 40m+ Eto for Ibra) or keeping him on the bench and losing another 12 million while his value drops even more.

If this deal ends like this...its gonna cause a major problem with us in future negotations with barca.

The 40m # came from the press, same as the 30m #. If any of it is true, then it just means Galliani is good at his job. (Though, your point about us possibly pulling out is a valid one)

@X-Off

You and I don't agree very often, but I am right there with you man. I haven't seen a post of yours I disagree with.

@The Awesome Debate being had today, which was very fun to read

We all agree our squad is not acceptable. I believe that we could use a RB and Vdv (Bias? Maybe tongue.gif). But here's the real deal: whether this transfer goes through or not will not change our ability to get any of those players. Its Ibra, or Huntelaar. Take your pick because thats reality. Reality is not 'lets save the 40m and buy what we need." Reality is Ibra. So, you're choices can be to be a stick in the mud and have a negative attitude, or be glad that someone who can achieve the ultimate goal in this sport (SCORE) is coming.

I'm putting aside my personal feelings for the player because I understand what he can potentially do for this club. Earlier I read the statement from somewhere that they would rather see the team rot than sign Ibra. That's like saying I'd rather have my company crash to the ground than have a rival CEO be my boss who has the potential to lead the company to success.

Not to mention the fact that Ibra has not lost the domestic cup in 7 years.

First of all I'd like to say I fully agree with you but since han's offline i'll clarify what means.

If Ibra comes; his transfer fee might get paid for. But were still stuck with the burden of paying him 8-9m a season for the next 4/5 years.

Also this can have a ripple effect in these areas:

1) Pato/silva other players will want a raise. The questions will arrise why Ibra is allowed to make 8m a season but dinho isn't?

2) Clubs like Genoa will be pissed off that we had that sort of money but we were acting like beggars.

3) If the price is too low and Galliani will play extreme hardball and put in a position where they have no cohice but to sell him to us; our relationship will be in trouble.

So, to wrap things up:

  • Milan have reached an agreement with both Ibrahimovic and Barcelona.
  • The transfer will be based on a loan with the obligation for definitive buy next summer.
  • Ibrahimovic shall receive a wage of 8-9 million a year.
  • Galliani has, apparently, managed to convince Barcelona to lower their demands from 40 to 30 million, and intends on reaching the minimum of 25 million.
  • The final meeting will be held tomorrow at 16:30 between Galliani, Rosell and Raiola.
  • The official announcement is expected to arrive around 17:30.

  • The official announcement is expected to arrive around 17:30.

I Beleive Barca would be really happy with this transfer as they have bought Javier Mascherano who is in my opinion the best Dm in the world for about the same price as they are selling Ibra and I think they will be saving 6mil in wages between these two players. So don't worry about our relationship with them smile.gif
