News:

-Braida closes door on caceres stating that we have 11 defenders and we dont' need anymore.

-Spanish media are divded on Ibra. Some believe he'll go to city while others believe he's going to milan.

-sport italia 3 reasons why ibra will go to milan:

I have two three clues that lead me to think Ibra Milan. IThe first comes from the fact that Swedish is from a non-exhilarating season and is looking for a way out. The second, Berlsuconi will appear with a stroke effect, the third time I see some Raiola and Milan in touch. "

-Shalke is still after Huntelaar

-Roma are interested in Janku

I know we signed Sokratis cheaper this way, which I mind less than let's say co-owning Paloschi, because indeed we got a very good central back now. Still it's a shame this is how we get our funds for signings, while at the same time we extend Inzaghi's and Gattuso's contracts, (gross) it cost together 12 mio to keep them for just this season. While I rate players like Paloschi and Strasser higher than them, who should play instead of them, develop and adapt to our team. I like the odds them being good players for us. But both are co-owned, and one doesn't even play here. sad.gif

I'm fully with you on that but we gotta face the fact that alot of fans will not be happy with that strategy. People want instant success now!

No matter who enters our squad; we are expected to get third. Well if we give youth a shot; that might not happen and for a club like milan not get into champions league is a real shame.

But who knows what galliani has in store. So far he's done very well in the market imo. Hes managed to create several signings with a budget of $0.00
CHU-LIP
There are enough clubs who try to sign Huntelaar. I just don't see him leave us though. He wants to stay. Only chance is we first sign a new forward, maybe then he will think different. But if we wait first to see him leave, then he just stays of course... (which we seem to do)... then he still likes his chances at the club.

What we are doing right now won't bring instant success either. Wait, top 3 isn't really what I call success. Do you? With 'my strategy' we can finish top 3 just as well without making those desicions which hurts our long term. You seem to believe 'my strategy' is only about giving youth a shot. No, that's just a part. It's giving youth a shot rather than players like Gattuso and Inzaghi. I also want new signings. But I want the money coming from releasing players like Gattuso and Inzaghi instead of co-owning players like Paloschi and Strasser.

Another young left back? We seem to make sure we aren't having left back issues in future. tongue.gif

Now I am 100% with Han... we need a right back more than a left back. biggrin.gif

not really we have oddo,sokratis,abate,bonera,zambrotta
CHU-LIP
[han]Sokratis, Bonera and Abate are no fullbacks!![/han]

Well, it's hard to say really. Sokratis impressed me as central defender. I hope he can do the same as right back, but I am not sure. Bonera also is a central back, but I would not trust him there, he makes too many flaws IMO to be a central defender for AC Milan. If you put him as right back (I would prefer Sokratis because he is simply way better) then at least it's a right back who can defend, but well..... going forward and crossng.... that are the downsides of this... Abate is better in that, and I like his pace and his commitment, but he still need to learn and is far from ready to play against decent sides... Oddo, I don't want to see him ever again in an AC Milan shirt!!!!!!!! Unless Sokratis also impress as right back, it will be Zambrotta, and he cannot play week in week out anymore on a high level. With what we got now I hope to see rotation between Zambrotta and Sokratis.

I think that Bonera is much better when playing as RB. A perfect example is last season's game against Manchester United. He makes a lot of errors and he can't be a CB, but he is a good Full Back, not Wing Back. He can be a decent backup.

Zambortta can give his best for another season.
CHU-LIP
Agreed about Bonera. I prefer him as RB over CB too. Hopefully you are right about Zambrotta, but he needs rotation. We really need him this season.

So with Ibra's agent coming out and saying there have been no talks, Do we think Braida was setting a smokescreen? Or just toying with the reporters? Or is Raiola playing stupid?

My hesitant guess would be a smokescreen, what are everyone else's thoughts?

No IMO the problem is with Raiola. He is not telling the truth. There has been contacts and if there's negotiations they will be finished 5 days from now.

Because he would be at most the 3rd best player for his positions. He is far from a players who makes us stronger. Also, we got a lot of prospects for the left side. I don't see any reason to sign Drenthe.

We can at least get him on loan or something. He can play midfield and left back. I am just saying. Getting him on loan def would not be a bad deal, and I don't think he is as bad as you're making him sound. innocent.gif

Why would we use Drenthe as left back? Both Antonini and Zambrotta are obvious better, and I don't see much difference between Jankulovski or Drenthe as left back. If we want to sign someone to cover the left back spot, surely there are better options out there. I would not be surprised if one of our many young left backs is better as left back than Drenthe already.

Drenthe is better as midfielder, but not that good. He comes not even close to midfielders like Pirlo, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Flamini and Prince. Surely because of the latter two we don't need Drenthe. And we also got Merkel and Strasser who I really like to get some playing time. Drenthe is a very bad reason to take minutes away from them.
MizNelson
FYI, Ibra's agent (Maiola) is a well-known jerk. In 2005, he once made up a story about how Juventus turned down a 70 million euro offer from Real Madrid in an attempt to increase Ibra's market value.

I agree with you here. We have Madrid and man city that have a surplus and talent we could use. The problem is we have mean Mr. Scrooge Galliani counting his coins with the hair plugs have fried my brain Berlusconi who has lost his mind. Worst managed team in Europe.

Most people view some of these guys at Milan as if they were the same players 5 years ago. Zambrotta hasn't been world class since his Juventus days. Pirlo, seedorf, ambronsini, and gattuso are just plain mediocre now maybe worse than that. With Pirlo the last two seasons he has been horrible. You could clear them all out and I wouldn't think twice. I rather see our youth players fight it out than these guys.

Pirlo dosn't belong in that list. He hasn't been up to par because he was being played in the wrong position. Being shackled in front of the defence having to do the dirty work that Ambro and Rino were supposed to be doing but weren't.

If Pirlo were to be given a free role he'll be back to his best easily. His talent, vision and passing ability is still there, but it's kind of hard to produce that when you're too busy trying to defend and there is generally minimal to no movement in front of you, which is a big problem since Pirlo needs movement from the fullbacks and forwards that are in front of him in order to produce.

And even while at his worst Pirlo is still out most important player on the pitch, no contest. We just don't know how to function without him, and not Carlo, Leo and as far as I can see Allegri know how to change that and make the team flow while he's not playing.

Are we still talking about Drenthe?

Plain mediocre or worse? Except for Gattuso that's an overloaded piece of BS. Ambrosini is one of the better DM's in Serie A, surely last season. Ambrosini, Seedorf and Pirlo are no mediocore players, let alone worse than that. Someone like Drenthe is mediocore.

I just don't know if I want him in Milan or not!! he is so not our type of player!

In the other hand, he's technically magnificent, he's proved in Serie A, and we have a good chance to fight for trophies with him.

Still, I don't know.
