The only thing left in Ronaldinho's baggage from his former self is his vision and passing abilities, which even I have to admit are quite genius sometimes. But to limit yourself (and your team) to just that is quite low. When I said that we'll never move forward until we get rid of him, I meant what I said. The whole team revolves around Ronaldinho, and to depend your game and hopes on a player who has a very narrow set of abilities to offer is quite pathetic. It's not like we're dependent of Robben or Ronaldo or Rooney, but of a 30 year-old slacker who is this close to becoming an ex-footballer.

Oh, and this is only my opinion, although you might take it as fact if you like. innocent.gif
Dracoris
I would say our team relies fairly heavily on Pato and Nesta as well. Ronaldinho was a big part last year, but we don't rely solely on him. As evidenced by our drop in form when both Nesta and Pato were out.
X-Offender
True dat, but it's our performance that suffers from their absence rather than the kind of game we play i.e. pass ball to Ronaldinho and hope he delivers an assist. And that's mostly because we don't have proper substitutes for either one of them.

We don't rely as much on Dinho as we do on Pirlo for example. Even though you like to think that Ronnie's only abalities are vision and passing, he does more then that and he's shown us this season more then once, aside from Pato he's our only other good dribbler, can shoot from long range and can literally create something out of nothing when the entire team is slagging off. And you want to replace him with a second rate mid like Hleb who has barely seen the pitch since moving to Barca? You can talk about Pastore all you want but Palermo would never sell to us and we'd never show the cash that would change their minds.

Yes that was an oppinion and I respect it, but before you said and I quote
QUOTE
Well, considering Ronaldinho is crap, pretty good beats crap so it's at least a step forward.

That is not giving an oppinion on something, that is stating a fact and trying to impose it on others. This is a forum, we discuss not beat our oppinions on others wink.gif

This fish thinks that XOff has a point -- last year the team really did rely much more on Ronaldinho doing something than Pirlo. And I agree that it's a somewhat dangerous thing to bank on.

Do I think Ronaldinho is crap? No, not really. I think he's a fine player (though nowhere near his Barca level).

I'd LOVE for Milan to bring in a top level trequartista.

Oh please, not this Dinho debate again...

We relied on Dinho yes, I'm not saying we didn't and maybe our reliance on Dinho is more obvious, but I still think we rely on Pirlo a hell of a lot more, without Pirlo the midfield is basically clueless. We played a couple of games without both because of suspensions and we suffered a lot more when Pirlo was out then we did when Dinho was out. The heavy reliance on Dinho only started when we lost Pato since he was our only outlet it attack that could do something with the ball.

Obviously he isn't, no one is saying he is. Would I still want him should we sign say... Ozil/Pastore/etc? Obviously I'd want the one of the other two if it was an either or situation, but we don't have that luxery, the management is not going to spend ridiculous ammounts of money on any player, let alone an AM, so I'm more then happy with Dinho if he performs like he did last season. This is the realistic me, I've long ago forgotten about being arrogant when it comes to players, these are not the days when we can leave top class players on the bench and we don't think twice about it because it's the usual for us. These days we're lucky to have 5 top class players on the starting 11 let alone on the bench

Long range shot? Aside from his goal against Siena, I can't remember a single goal from outside of the box from him. Good dribbler? Only when he's in top form, which happens very rarely. Most of the time he just looks goofy whilst desperately trying to dribble. Create something out of nowhere enters in his vision and passing skills which I already mentioned. His only goal on free kick with us was against Torino last season, I think. I mean, you could say he's useful with his assists and that I won't deny, but the guy has an evident limit in everything else!

He scored against Juve and Napoli from free-kicks as well last season, and this season he has hit the post multiple times from free-kicks and long range shots, I don't see how that ability is limited. And Dinho is not a selfish player so often we've seen him with an opportunity to shoot and instead he tries to put a team mate through. The only times he tries to shoot a lot is either when the result is secure or we're desperate for the goal.

Pirlo has vision and passing just as much if not more then Dinho but you rarely see him create something out of nothing, atleast not with the frequency Dinho does, it's still a valid attribute imo. He's a good dribbler, he only looks "goofy" as you put it when he tries to overdo it with the tricks and instead loses the ball, when he goes for the simple dribbles he usually beats his marker easily. But then again this is something we see a lot with dribblers like Dinho or for example C. Ron who I've seen falling on his @ss countless times trying a million step overs and tripping over his own feet.

Imo, Dinho's biggest problem is his pace. He's fast but his accelaration is terrible so he needs a lot of space to really brake away.

I don't really get why we're arguing over this. For the money the management would be willing to spend Dinho is our best option. We're not getting Pastore, or anyone of similar calibre and price tag. So wanting Dinho to leave imo is ridiculuos as we'll only do worse not better. No one will be willing to pay more then 15m for him at his age and that wouldn't be enough to get a better replacement for him

1. Last season han, that's 2 years ago.
2. His goal against Napoli was a clear own goal of Dennis.
3. He didn't score on free kick against Juve, you made that up.

Typo, not last season but the one before that
Sorry, you're right the freekick was not against Juve it was against Portsmouth blush.gif
His goal against Napoli was attributed to him so...

ok well seams me and Han are part of the few that have accepted Milan's new status in the world of football, we will not be able to throw money at our problems, sooner or later we will have to develop. This is the biggest cliche in the sport but if you don't take chances on players, you force yourself to spent alot for average quality. Think of Athletico Bilbao, they are always competitive with a squad that has a very important weapon...Faith placed into them by Upper management.
CHU-LIP
We must take chances on our youth players, but Di Gennaro is simply awful. We should have Paloschi, not Inzaghi, as our backup and give him a chance. We have youth players we should give a chance, but we seem to rather sign a worthless Onweyu who makes defensive errors all the time without having the prospect turning into something good, while Albertazzi probably will get loaned out. Or we will play Oddo as central back rather than giving Romagnoli or Albertazzi a chance.

i dont get why we want huntelaar out after just one season.. pippo is the one filling a spot... maybe we should offer him to the arabs...

not satisfied but not that bad...
pippo sorry man, ur deff a legend but a team like milan needs transition

for my trequartista spot.. is deff
VDV... if inter snatched Sneijder for 15mil
im sure we could get him around that too.. with him and j.cole... we might be set to battle some trophies. i deff want more but that its a more low budget reality

I do agree with you, but Di Gennaro is definately not one of those possibilities. H's below average. I saw him in the Coppa games he played last season and it was just awful. He couldn't even control simple balls, his passing accuracy was non existant just terrible.

Yes we do need to start developing our own talent since the management is unwilling to spend money on transfers but the Primavera needs an overhaul imo, we're not going to build a great team out of the likes of Di Gennaro and the likes that have come out of our Youth system recently, look at Barca every season a top class youngster from their own system is introduced into the first team and he usually succeeds. Our most promising players recently have been Paloschi, Darmian and Albertazzi and what do we do? We loan one of them, co-own the other and the other is about to go through a similar faith. Galliani talks and talks about developing our own players yet no one ever gives the Primavera players a chance to atleast show what they can do.

They are happier playing the likes of Oddo, Janku, Kala in the Coppa then giving these guys a chance

VdV is too much of a lightweight imo to be our starting AM. He's very injury prone. Would I take him if he was available? Yes!!

Why is he too much of a lightweight to be a starting AM? Since when does that matter* for an AM? Very njury prone? That's not true. Sure he had injuries, but he isn't that injury prone as you say now. Van der Vaart is a very good AM, I'd be thrilled with him.

Last season he barely played to get any injuries in the first place. He only started playing by the end of the season when Kaka was injured/off form most of the time.

I'm not saying he isn't good enough to start far from it. I just don't think he would be reliable enough, at least not enough to base a system around him being the only sole AM. Like a 4-3-1-2 type of set-up for example

I know, but I also know that this is not casual for him. He is no Robben, Borriello, Aquilani, Nesta, ...far from it...

It's just one unlucky season... who doesn't have that?
X-Offender
If we are going to play with an AM behind two strikers, what do we need Joe Cole for? He's a winger. And besides, I've never been impressed by his performances at Chelsea. He just seems a less than average kind of player to me. I'd rather keep Mancini instead.

We really are starting to look pathetic with all these loans and zero-cost signings. I mean, even clubs like Palermo and Genoa seem to spend a fair amount of money every summer, whilst we just go after the market drop-outs. So low, so low... sad.gif

I'm not really buying the story about Hunter to tell you the truth, and if it is true he probably won't want to go to Turkey at this stage of his carreer, he's still young. This is our problem, we've pampered the mediocre players for so long that obviously none of them want to leave. Are you referring to Kaladze, Oddo and jankulovski? Those three just dont wanna leave (the loyalty huh? king.gif ). Janku has two children who are at school and he dosnt want them to leave before they're finished. Kaladze turned down Parma and some oether foreign offers. Seems that he's fine with his position in the club as long as he earns 4.5 milion a year.
Also Oddo rejected an offer from Lazio.

You can't really fault him for that, in a system that suites him I bet you that Huntelaar would explode, so why should he limit himself to going to Turkey or Portugal at his age? He's not even at a stage were cashing in would be more feasible then keeping your pride, ala Cannavaro

If it would mean that we end up paying more then we would to see out his contract for this last season then it wouldn't be worth it, and he's not stupid so he won't accept anything below that. At this point we either buy out his contract or let him stay for the last season.

I would put him out of the squad for the entire season. The official reason would be that it's the coach decision but everyone would know why. Let's see which club will take him after not playing at all for a year and that will be a good precedent for other prick players.

True. And besides, Milan can't buy anyone before selling. That's just an unwritten club rule. The good news is that Milan decided NOT to extend Mancini's contract. Bye bye mancini noobiesmiley.gif
