This year's operating losses only..count to next season. I made a huge post about that. If you would come online more often instead of playing Soldier Spy with your Greek friends you would know.

FFP says you can have as much debt as you like provided you can meet the interest payments. And currently most clubs do.

Man Utd made a profit 2011 season despite that huge debt!!! Man City have believe it or not the second largest commercial income in England after Man Utd. Should tell you something.

Hell Pana, you know what is depressing...that Liverpool f@ckin make more money from their jerseys than Milan does. Serie A is THAT popular!! rolleyes.gif

@Zed.D:

No one else, I meant no one else they could sell. biggrin.gif Smartass!! They tried to sell Sneijder, they couldn't get the price for him. And you know the mess they had with the revolving door of coaches and all that.

I don't know what Soldier Spy is. I've seen your post, it's still in a tab on my browser waiting to be read... blush.gif Do you still love me?

I still don't see how all this necessarily means they care about FFP. I mean, do you have to have FFP to care about the company you are running?

If somewhere down the road FFP bothers Europe's big clubs I can't see why they won't again form a group and threaten UEFA to leave the CL and create their own European league. In which case UEFA will again shut up and take it.

Totally right.

And at this point who cares about FFP when we're going to be banning ourselves from Europe indefinately at the rate we're going...

FFP is boll@cks and an excuse for Galliani and Co.

Silvio just does not want the burden of bankrolling the club anymore. I think saying that would be far more accepted by the fans then trying to feed us BS.

Well you're right about banning from Europe if the team is too bad. But then you're talking about ending up somewhere in the 8th place.

I find the Silvio bankroll argument difficult to accept coz it's been about 26 years he's been bankrolling this club. A 'toy' rarely holds one's interest for a quarter century. I think he accepts that the old model of how he has running the club will no longer work and needs to change. And of course there will be pains involved. Unfortunately in our case, massive pains.

@dst: Your comment about FFP not affecting how you run the company would be true anywhere except in Italy. Typically in Italy, the football clubs have been 'patronised' not 'operated'. Similar to how the kings of old would bankroll musicians to produce operas for them etc. It wasn't an investment with the expectation of return...just an expensive pursuit.

Milan were the same. We've always been making losses if thought of as a company. In fact if we were a 'proper' company we would have run to the ground by now. We make losses, Silvio/Finninvest covers them. For 26 years it's how we were run, it's how we were run when we won everything. Now we need to change and start again.

In a way I'm okay with this. I get to brag about how I love the jersey and not the cups we won. tongue.gif And you who became a fan after watching us get demolished 7-1 know exactly what I'm talking about. biggrin.gif

Nah he certainly can't say that. People would just scream at him to sell, it would get worse. Now, some people believe him (and I'm not saying they're wrong and I'm right, this could be true, I just don't see it) and they just hope that it will get better. It would be hell on Earth if people officially knew he wanted to sell and he doesn't.

I don't believe that we've had major losses. Maybe Milan was not bringing in profit for Berlusconi but he is first and foremost a businessman and there's no way I'm going to believe he's been holding on for so long to a company that's making him lose big money year after year. Even if he's the biggest Milan fan on Earth there's a limit to how big of a loss is acceptable and I think it was not all that big.

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri allegedly threatened to resign over his club’s bid to net Ze Eduardo from Genoa, reports La Repubblica.

The Rossoneri had agreed a deal with the Stadio Ferraris outfit for the Brazilian, but without the consent of Allegri.

The move subsequently collapsed after the former Cagliari tactician made it clear that he did not want the forward in his squad.

It’s not the first sign of tension between Coach and the club this summer given that Allegri was criticised by Adriano Galliani recently.

The Vice-President was left furious with Allegri after the Diavolo lost a pre-season friendly to Real Madrid in spectacular fashion – losing 5-1 in the process.

Allegri has been deprived of some key personnel in this window after a host of veterans left at the end of their contracts, while Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were sold to Paris Saint-Germain.

It is also claimed that Allegri has asked for a defensive midfielder before the window closes, but Galliani has his eyes on a more attacking player instead.

Real Madrid’s Ricky Kaka is still on their radar with a possible final decision over that move to be made on Wednesday.

It makes me a masochist. tongue.gif

I think the major losses really started over the last decade, once the economy got shot, I don't think Finninvest was making the kind of money it used to anymore.

Also, transfer fees exploded only then. That's when we suddenly had to plunge out way too much money just to stay at the same level we were at. The whole scale of what constituted 'big spending' in world football was altered first by Chelsea, then by Man City and now by PSG.

And now we have reached the limit to the losses he can tolerate I imagine.

Silvio by himself couldn't compete I guess. Of course I understand if there's a sale happening, it would be secret. Even the new buyers would want to be kept secret.

I'm sure that we need outside investment to progress. And I also believe something is definitely afoot.

Oh btw...Soldier Spy, I was referring to your military service, when you weren't on here much.
amancik
I'm not surprised if Allegri does feel that way. This could turn out to be the worst transfer window for Milan I've witnessed since the past decade. I mean Ze Eduardo? Really??

the allegri story sounds more believable than ze eduardo's personal pull out of the deal

Gazzetta reporting that the M'Baye Niang offer has been accepted, and the transfer will be finalised shortly.
Jack Sparrow
Well that's some good news.

After Caen accepted Milan's offer, they'll have to negotiate now with Niang's parents, because he's still under age. [RMC Sport]

El Kaddouri is set to join Napoli on co-ownership. They will pay €2m for half of his card.
Milan wanted Genoa to buy El Kaddouri and Sent him on Co-Ownership in January.Genoa's coach did not want him and the deal fell through.

Mancini: "Inter asked for De Jong? I don't think Inter want Nigel. He'll stay here. Dzeko? We received no offers for him."

According to MilanNews, Madrid have still to pay us €8 million from the famous €65 million they used to purchase Kaká in 2009. Our offer to Madrid is a free loan with obligation of purchase for about €8-10 million. Also, if Kaká was to come on a free loan, his wage on the club's balance sheet for the year 2012 would weigh for only six months, as opposed to free loans coming from within Italy. For example, Constant is entirely put in our balance sheet for the year 2012, (purchase fee + wage), whilst Kaká would only be put for his gross wage for the second half of 2012.

Niang's Ever ready: Toffees agree a deal for Arsenal-target striker

Italian giants AC Milan were also in for the teenage Caen forward but he's bound for Goodison Park after Moyes has a bid accepted

Boy in blue: Teenager Niang is set to sign for Everton

Everton boss David Moyes has won the signing race for French sensation M'Baye Niang - after agreeing a £2million-plus deal with Caen.

Moyes beat Arsenal and AC Milan in the chase - Manchester City and Tottenham were also contenders - and will bring the teenager in this weekend.

Niang spent time at Goodison earlier this month, as revealed by MirrorFootball, and Moyes used his new financial strength following the sale of Jack Rodwell to Manchester City to make the best offer.

Caen wanted as much money up front as possible and the Toffees have found the funds whereas the Gunners and Milan tried to make the French outfit settle for a small initial fee.

Niang should sort out personal terms quite quickly and seems happy with the deal despite language problems.

The young forward was more keen on becoming part of Arsenal's highly cosmopolitan squad, but has been guided by his father towards the more lucrative Merseyside option.

Surely he would chose us, we have a similar language, we have Mexes & Flamini & the most fragile forwards ahead of him on the depth chart.

Hmm wages are expenses, as are fees, hence they are recorded in the 'income statement' and not the 'balance sheet'. But if you are talking about accrued expenses then that is something else; in which case Constant and Kaka would not be paid and neither of their departing clubs.

But I dont get how Kaka's wages would only be for 6 months while Constant would be for a year? you did outline above that its because Constant is incoming from Italy as opposed to Kaka ... But effectively they would have only served 6 months and hence earned 6 months pay ... Not sure ..

Wiki says he's a striker, but can also play as winger or attacking midfielder. Kind of like El Shaarawy.

Yes, it should be income statement, sorry.

I'm not sure how this works in football, but I guess when you sign a player, his transfer fee + wage are recorded in the income statement of the club for that year, which is 2012 in this case. The article says that when you sign a player on loan from a foreign club, the transfer fee in the income statement is not recorded. Not sure why Kaka's wage would only be recorded for the second half of the year, though, as opposed to Constant's. I guess it's a written rule or something.
Fillipo Simone
I'd be happy with Ricky under these circumstances, no matter what wage-system he enters (as long as it's a sane sum).
X-Offender
I think it's going to happen. Seemed impossible a few days ago, but seeing as how things have developed, including our lack of quality signings, I believe Kaká is the only one who can save us from a disastrous season.

So, Niang may choose Everton instead of Milan.

On other news, Ramirez will be leaving Bologna as it seems. Is he maybe the midfielder we need?

So,it feels to me..we'll be either getting Kaka..or nothing.

Not sure, let's wait a bit more.

For now, only sure thing is Sahin to Liverpool so we can cross him off the list.

Regardless, I am inclined to believe that our rebuilding is focused on a young and vibrant team. Only problem here is no one at Milan is telling the press anything (Constant and Zapata come to mind).

Why the puke smileys? yes, he's a different kind of player and I can't see how they're seeing him as Kaka's alternative, but the kid ain't bad. he's not the kind of player I can see playing for us for many years, but we could use him in this transitional period, just like Pazzini. better than nothing.
