His salary cut was immense. But...if we are just gonna spend that extra cash into giving Silva a payhike, then forget about any more transfers.

Pato: "I'd like to thank the club for deciding to keep me. I want to make the fans happy, and continue with Milan until 2014. I love English football. I have friends that play at Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. My priority is to respect my contract with Milan (which ends in 2014), then, who knows what might happen...".

Wouldn't it be ironic if we lost him for nothing after two years. biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif
Fillipo Simone
What a curious comment. Interesting.
han2503
Pato will only get a renewal next season if he manages to stay fit. I think he wants an extension, thus the talk of other clubs. But I don't think Galliani is ready to jump at it due to all his problems

I strongly believe Milan matched PSG's offer for Silva. In all fairness, that is his market value, he was put on the market and the market offered him 7M, Milan had to match it.

I read a news-bit on this, maybe FI, about Silva's salary being bumped to 7M.

Maybe we can in fact afford that given all the salaries we've bumped off this summer, but at what expense?

I don't think we'd be able to offer a good DM a decent contract if it came down to it...

5m to 6m would have been enough for now imo

So far it looks like:

Abbiati
Abate Mexes Silva Vila
New DM
Montolivo Nocerino
Boateng
Cassano Ibrahimovic

If we want to be competitive as a top team, we should retire Montolivo to the bench and move boateng to his place and sign a pure AM behind the 2 forwards. And Balzaretti could give us 2-3 quality years on that left side if we could manage to sign him for a reasonable price/ wage.

Too many shoulds and coulds. Just have to wait and see.

Where is Ambrosini??

QUOTE (mkenya @ Jun 27 2012, 08:43 AM) *
Where is Ambrosini??

Ambro can no longer be a starter for us. He's good as backup, but not as someone who can play every 3 days for us.

Bronzetti: "Lassana Diarra is a player that would be useful for Milan's case. I talked about him with Galliani and Allegri, and I can affirm that he's one of the hot names for the DM position. His contract expires in 2013, and the excellent relationships between Milan and Madrid might facilitate things. The only problem is represented by the player's wages, €4.5 million".

We're still interested in Balzaretti, and even though Zamparini doesn't want to sell him, we're going to use the fact that his contract expires in 2013 in our advantage, Nocerino style. After the Euro's over, the player will decide about his future. Meanwhile, both Taiwo and Mesbah will probably be offloaded somewhere else, as they didn't convince Allegri. Taiwo interests to Benfica, whilst Mesbah interests to Udinese. Didac Vilà should return from his loan to Espanyol and play his chances with us.

Thanks for the update man. ^^

Abbiati
Abate Mexes Silva Balzaertti
Diarra
Montolivo Nocerino
Boateng
Pato Ibra

Looks very solid. But that AM position. is our weakest spot. It would hurt to see us suffer creatively one more long season. I know Carletto and Allergri are different, but going from:

Pirlo
Gattuso Seedorf
Kaka

to:

Diarra
Montolivo Nocerino
Boateng

Such a difference in that creativity department I was just talking about. And unfortunately quality too. Just one tweak and it would look so different with even Montolivo as proper back up:

Diarra
Boateng Nocerino
Ganso

One can dream! innocent.gif

Although the quality has degraded in midfield this summer, I believe Milan is capable of attracting good players. It's just a matter of when their contracts expire at their respective clubs dry.gif

That change in midfield from 'champions' to '?' will be improved on, I hope no later than this summer! And yes, IMO Ganso would definitely add quality.

Not sure how that will figures out, maybe for performance related bonuses, the player earns higher maybe?

One thing is for certain, the way Galliani handled the Flamini incident, means there is no mercy from his side. Milan's future depends on him finally generating the slimmest of profits. And if we used to carry 170M in wages and salaries per annum, against losses in the range of 60M .. You do the math.

I believe a good DM would arrive, after all, Allegri's midfield was very much dependent on VB.

TheOgre
Im just so excited to (hopefully) see noce play on the left all season where he is amazing as opposed to the right where his performances can dip drastically.

Some great news.

Both Balzaretti and Diarra would seriously improve the quality of this team.

I still say that we need 1 more creative CM or an AM before going into the season. Montolivo is our only creative option which is just not acceptable imo

I think that looks really good. As for creativity, Allegri's system depends on the strikers more than anything else. Cassano and Ibra are great together and don't really need someone constantly feeding them balls, while with pato it's a different story as he thrives on great service from the midfield.

I think at this point a LB and DM are what the club is really after. But as I said, Monto alone is not enough. Ganso would be a huge addition but I can't see us shelling out the money to get him at this point

I think if you consider all the contracts that ended this summer, plus Flamini's reduced wage, Galliani has probably shelved over 20m from the bill. So I do think that he has a bit more space to manouvre, however, as you pointed out, the losses that we sum up every year are astronomic, so 20m is just a small dent in the entire scheme of things. It mostly all depends on Silvio and what he's willing to contribute after covering all those losses at this point.

I'd personally be happy with a DM, Balzaretti and maybe a CM given our problems

We won't get Balzaretti. Mainly because after Euro 2012 teams with more money will likely be interested.

I have similar feelings, but one can still hope...

I think it depends on how many clubs had been following him prior to the Euro because not many scouts trust what they see by players on duty with their national team.

Plus he is Italian. They rarely leave the motherland, so that means we just have to compete with the other big Italian clubs.

Meanwhile Ernesto Bronzetti feels Lass to Milan is just a matter of time.

The worrying thing being left back is Juventus' only real position of need and Balzaretti already has a connection with them.
Jack Sparrow
Yes...but do Juve need a LB or a striker more?? I think they might not have the money/wages for both.

Real Madrid’s Lassana Diarra will leave Spain for Italian giants Milan this summer, says agent Ernesto Bronzetti.

“Diarra is on holiday in America right now,” Bronzetti told Marca. “However, as soon as he is back, he’ll find an agreement with Milan.”

The 27-year-old has been at Real since his 2009 transfer from Portsmouth. He’s also played for clubs such as Le Havre, Chelsea and Arsenal.

I've always liked Diarra and wanted him at Milan, it's nice to see he's finally set to join us. good move for both parties.

It's actually kind of pathetic what Milan have become.

Would it really matter where they have played in the past if they come and do a good job at Milan?

Well everyone has already **** all over Muntari. KPB's performances have been a little overrated and Diarra's just an overrated player in my opinion.

You're right about Muntari.

Prince may have been overrated by some people sometimes but he's been one of our best players nonetheless.

As for Diarra, IMO he's a solid DM with great ball control, tackling and passing and will do just well in Italy where the pace is slower compared to England and Spain. we'll see.

Not this summer.
KillerMax
Yeah I also feel the changes coming. Lucio would be a good back up for any top team IMO. But I don't want his waxed eyebrows anywhere near Milan. And he probably carries with him some of that stinky Materazzi odor anyways.
mishie
Juve have offered Lucio a 2-year contract, worth around €2.3m per season + bonuses. The deal is very close to being done. (Sky Italia)

phew!

Personally I'm very much looking forward to the possiblity of having Diarra on the team...I think he's a perfect fit. Watching him extensively on youtube his offensive tendencies might have to be pulled back just a tad....he seems to like to get forward maybe a bit too much. Overall he would drastically imporove our midfield though.

Adriano Galliani has confirmed Milan “might bring in Mattia Destro” after negotiations with Siena and Genoa.

The striker is co-owned by Siena and Genoa, but has been linked with Italy’s top clubs over the past couple of weeks.

“Thiago Silva will stay at Milan and we might bring in Destro,” Vice-President Adriano Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

On Friday evening reports emerged that the Rossoneri had joined the race that already included Roma, Inter and Juventus.

“Milan are a great club, so their interest is not surprising,” Siena director of sport Stefano Antonelli told Sky Sport Italia.

“I would be honoured to keep Destro, as he is one of the brightest young talents in Italy, but we know it would be tough.”

Up until now Roma had been the most likely candidates to take Destro, though Siena deny this.

“There are no favourites in the race. Every club can speak to us or with Genoa. There are many clubs interested and Roma are among them.”
kurtsimonw
For some reason I still thought he was part-Inter, apparently not.
KillerMax
Helping Genoa jack up the price? wink.gif
William405
Him and El sharaawy are probably the future of Italy. It would be great to at least buy him even if we're going to loan him out imo...since we don't need any strikers at all at the moment...unless we're getting rid of Robinho.
kurtsimonw
Keeping Silva and signing Montolivo, Destro and Diarra wouldn't be a disaster of a window.

I often complain about this excuse, but Pato and KPB can't be injured next season as much as they were this, so having them back will be a boost too.

Agreed.

I do still think that we need a proper LB and another CM though...

As for Pato and Prince, who knows what will happen, but if we manage to keep the injuries to a minimum than we'll be ok, last season's failure has to be attributed to the injuries, at least 75% of it
