It was an interesting discussion. And seeing how it seems like Zed's main issue was being Fillipo denying Tasci being Turkish (player), I actually tend to agree to an extend with him, while I do believe if anything his identity is a mix of both Turkisch and German.

Which made me think about a discussion I saw the other day on tv (a nice while back). Some Dutch football experts, on a football talk show, talked about this player playing for a country and he didn't celebrate when he scored against the country of his parent(s). They talked about how this was a discrage, while he picked for this country so he must act like it. Obviously the ones who said that were 100% Dutch (as in so are their parents), so I'd say they are ignorant! They don't know how it is to have parent(s) from a different country than yours. The player obviously didn't want to disrespect his family, so he didn't cheer. What's the problem with that? Afterall, he did his best for his national team, hell, he scored.

Maybe this has not much to do with the discussion (but I was so upset about it so love to rant about it), except for I guess it does show someone like that could have feelings for both countries. So I guess his identity is a mix of both, and it's good that one can choose himself to play for which one.

It's a sensitive issue on these forums as this debate has been exhausted beyond reason. I tend to agree with zeddie a bit, but kept my mouth shut about it as it's not worth the arguments. At least kurt's not here because then things would seriously heat up tongue.gif

If you want to continue it at least take it to the national football thread, I'm not trying to stop a discussion or anything like that, but to have it in this particular thread which already tends to get over crowded doesn't seem like such a great idea.

So.... who are we going to sign? tongue.gif
Jack Sparrow
Roberto Carlos from Anzhi. We are gonna pay him 10 million a year. Saving 2 million from Ibra's wage and we plug in the hole at LB.

Though I would call him a German player since he chose for Germany, but that doesn't mean he is just that I guess.

I intended to end this debate, but just one reminder. I most certainly did not deny Tasci being a Turkish player, I rather implied that he's more a "German" player and also used "" to make it more clear. But anyway...

I agree with you here, which brings me to a related, yet different, matter. I noted for the last couple of seasons a real boom of examples where players refuse to celebrate against a club they played for in their past. I certainly understood players who for example played for years at Milan or Madrid or Köln, then changed their team and refused to celebrate after they scored in a direct clash. I'd be a bit hurt to see Kaka or Sheva celebrate like crazy after scoring against us. But the matter has gone too far. I recent years you can name players who don't celebrate goals against their youth teams, teams they've played for a few months or long in their past. It's not just a personal decision, it's becoming more and more a usus or unwritten rule, a "political" gesture someone is expected to make. I find it annoying.

News:

-We have sent Rodrigo Ely on loan to Reggina.

-Official: Young player Innocenti has been sold pro veralai

-Uefa has scheduled a meeting with PSG regarding their recent transfer market activity.

-We are linked with Xabi Alonso

-Preziosi (genoa): "If I manage to buy out Destro from Siena, then he will join Roma. I already have an agreement with Roma."

-PSG have concluded deals for Ibra and Veratti. Tomorrow should be the official.

leonardo: "Tomorrow will be an important day for PSG"

-Chelsea are close to signing Brazillian playmaker Oscar. 28m euros

-Apparantly reports suggest that Santos may just want a straight swap between Rafael and Robinho. They don't value him over 10m. laugh.gif

-We could potentially pull out of the Dzeko/Tevez race as City might demand too much for them (25m+). Damaio is no longer an option as hes worth 30+.

We may pull out of the Rolando deal as other clubs have joined the race for him and his price tag is just too high for us (15m+)

Robinho to santos seems like the only deal that is possible but we haven't contacted Santos yet, only Rafael's agent.

-You can cross Ogbonna out as Torino won't sell him this year as they wish to try and stay in Serie A.

-No news on Kaka yet, we should find out in a couple days.

Milan finances in the last couple years, lets see.

Overall profit/loss:

2006 +11.9 million
2007 -31.7 million
2008 -66.8 million
2009 -9.8 million
2010 -69.8 million
2011 -67.3 million

Wages budget:

2006 - 137.8 million
2007 - 166.1 million
2008 - 176.5 million
2009 - 178.8 million
2010 - 192.8 million
2011 - 206.5 million

A steady decline in the overall loss were taking each year is directly related to our wage budget. Hmm....I wonder who is responsible for that. Italy's economy? The state of Serie A? Or our management?

70m increase in wages over the last 5 years and we haven't even improved that much in quality. This guys is an example of poor management. Brilliance from Galliani and co.
Fillipo Simone
So basically there's no real link and we've given up on signing names like Rolando? Ooooh, someone's definitively coming.

I would too to be honest. Rolando is not worth 15m+ and were dealing with Porto here. They'll jack the price up even more with other guys comin into the deal.

edit:

news:

Galliani and Allegri are at dinner with Raiola and his lawyer. Don't know what for but its probably not gonna be good.

news:

Samdoria and Napoli had an agreement for Andrea Poli. 6.5m euros. At the last minute, poli pulls himself out of the deal saying he needs time to reflect on his future. The media believes that we may have made contact and said wait a little longer.

-Berlusconi has contacted kaka and asked him to lower his wage demand so he could move to Milan.

-Rolando's agent has told the media that whoever wants Rolando must get in touch with Porto, which we havent' done yet.

-International: "He is not for sale. We will do everything to keep Damiao, he is a great joy for the club" (so 30+ or gtfo)

-Santos vice president:

"Getting Robinho is not easy, but he is someone who we want very much. Robinho too has said he wants to return to us one day but again I repeat is not an easy deal to make.

-Lazio are close Balzaretti. Palermo's president has said: "I'll look at his future tomorrow. Milan? Theyve never asked or enquired about him."

-Capello signs for russia

Erm Iv been highlighting that part for the past three years, good to know you've finally paid attention.

Well, at least you now know that Milan cant afford a squad of champions, and that had it not been for Silvio, considering our turnover/revenue cant cover the bill your bragging about. If you comprehend the contribution that this man has done, if you only understood what it took for him to keep Milan afloat .. Unlike the top of the crop in Europe, whose turnover is twice or thrice Milans.

Let me give you a more clear picture of what i'm talking about.

Football is not a business where you can make a profit in. It doesn't matter at what level you operate at. I've worked at clubs where i've had 2k budgets, 10k budgets and even 50k budgets. You know what the common theme among them all is? The club has always taken a loss. Even in the most prudent circumstance where you cross every T and dot ever I (which is almost impossible as sh!t always happens), and make a profit, that profit will be used as an investment towards the club or paying back a small portion of shareholder's investments.

You never get back the money you put in, ever.

So lets ask the fundamental question. Why do people buy clubs? Why would Berlusconi, Agnelli, Morratti, Sheik mansour, abramovich etc... buy football clubs?

I'll tell you, it has nothing to do with money. Controlling a football club is essentially the same thing as controlling a group of people. You can impact people through sports far faster than you can impact them through politics. Berlusconi's a good example of this.

How many times through his years in polotics has he improved poll numbers through Milan alone? Its far more effective then Silvio going to a childrens hospital or bake sale.

Control. Thats why they do it. So don't give me that Silvio bought milan and funded it for all these years because he loves the club and its a part of him and all that bullsh*t. For him its always been a useful toy. A toy that would get him what he wants. Sure it has costed him over the years but it has benefited him greatly as well. 3 times in office and now hes making a 4th run.

If anyone loves the club its Galliani and thats why we are in this mess is because he loves the club and all the players.

When you start making business decisions from emotion and feelings instead of logic and experience, you begin to take losses, your business begins to decline. You learn that in business 101.

So lets look at Galliani's management skills in the last couple years.

Our squad in 05 was stronger or weaker than in 11? I would say it was alot stronger.

What should the average squad size be for a club? 25-26 at the most and the last couple spots should be filled with youth players. What has our average squad size been? 30 players +.

We can't afford a squad of champions? You consider gattuso, seedorf, inzaghi and co. champions? Especially gattuso at 4m euros. He didn't even f*ckin play.

We can afford a squad of champions if we don't waste money on washed up players. Ibra earns 9m a season. If we had sold flamini and Gattuso that would have paid for him. Silva earns 6m a year. If we had sold bonera and zambrotta that would have paid for him.

Its all in how you manage your business. You can run it like a f*ckin clown which galliani has done in the last 5 years or you can run it like a proper business like Bayern and others have.

The Top 5 Worst Mistakes by Berlusconi & Galliani in Recent Past
by Michele Misiti

1. Andrea Pirlo:

Pirlo should have been resigned 1 OR 2 years before his release. It is one thing to let go of Seedorf at 35 on a Bosman, but Pirlo was still young enough and very much hungry to continue on his career. Letting him go for Free caused two distinct problems; he left for a rival team, and secondly, he did not generate any income to be used for further transfer money to strengthen the aging midfield. Surely a 3 year extension could have then allowed us to negotiate a 20M Euro deal to send him to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, or Manchester United. Surely he would have been interested in the challenge, and we could have generated a lot of revenue on the sale. Letting him leave, only to perform greatly for our direct rival was almost unforgivable.

2. Mister "X" Saga:

After a 5 month spell (April-August) in 2011, all Milan fans across the globe heard about was a mysterious Mister "X". Hair texture, height, characteristics were all given, but never a name. Was it Marek Hamsik? Cesc Fabregas? Marko Marin? Alex Witsel? The biggest cat and mouse game Galliani has ever played with the fans backfired after the Berlusconi-owned company Fininvest was caught in the Mondadori scandal which cost them €560M cash on the spot. Shortly after, Berlusconi was involved in yet another scandal at the same time as his country was entering the biggest European Debt Crisis in its History, with massive debts piled up from unknown spending. He has recently stepped down as Prime Minister. After the saga ended, it was later revealed by Super-Agent Mino Raiola that it was indeed Marek Hamsik who was Mister X. As if the story isn't bad enough, Galliani later told the media that Mister X was Alberto Aquilani all along. Really?!?!?!?

3. Loans w/Options, Bosman's, and Asking Owners to Release their Players from Contracts:

Milan has technically spent zero Euros so far this Mercato. Gabriel, the Brazilian goalkeeper was bought for an undisclosed fee to be paid in deferment for 1 year, while Kevin Constant, Bakaye Traore, and Riccardo Montolivo were all signed for Free. Sulley Muntari was signed after his year-ending injury playing football with his friends in Africa, while Milan have not been consistently linked with anyone else at the moment. The Antonio Nocerino buy for €500,000 was certainly a steal nearly 1 year ago, but we cannot expect singings like that to come often. In regards to Alberto Aquilani, it's quite embarassing for Adriano Galliani to be asking for Liverpool to release him from his contract because we could not afford the meager €4M buyout of his contract after the Loan, which of course was all agreed upon nearly one year ago. Aquilani, while not a world-beater is certainly a better player than €4M, and has proven it in his time in Milan, Juventus, and Roma. In summary, the signings of the last 2-3 years have shown that Milan's project may not revolve around a type of player, a formation, or characteristic they need in the squad, but rather if that player is free or not. Carlos Tevez would only have came if he came on another Ibrahimovic-esque deal which included all sorts of loans, option to buys, and deferment of payments, which was never to be. This type of behavior in the transfer market not only shows how weak we've become, but has certainly angered the owners and managers of clubs around the World.

4. The Wage Bill:

In the 2011-2012 Season, AC Milan boasted a €160M wage bill which included taxes. The next highest team was nearly €50M behind them, and this includes the very many deficiencies that exist in the squad. With a 34 year old Mark van Bommel, a 35 year old Massimo Ambrosini, a 36 year old Clarence Seedorf, and not to mention Luca Antonini as your starting left back, €160M seems like a tough ask for any Director, but Galliani managed it. The problem all started with the Bosman and Loan policy. By signing players out of contract, you must pay them higher wages. Once a player like Mathieu Flamini is making close to €10M per season (Taxes included), everyone will demand it. To keep players Galliani then had to run the club into massive debt which ruined its transfer campaigns. Considering the talent on Roma, Napoli, & Juventus, there is no reason why we can't have a World Class team for around €100M Euros. Unless players are a Champion of the highest order, there is no reason for them to be over €2M-3M per year. A player like Muntari should be ecstatic with €1.5M, and only players like Nesta, Thiago Silva, and Ibrahimovic should be above 4M Euros per year.

5. Selling Thiago Silva:

AC Milan had ever right to sell Ibrahimovic. At 30 years of age, closing in on 31, Ibra was at the back end of his Prime. After the best goal-scoring season of his life, Ibra was looking for Champions League glory. With Milan being in a border-line financial crisis, his wages were not only too high, there was no room to bring in the 2-3 players needed for Ibra to win his first UCL Trophy. Moving on was always inevitable. Secondly, playing with Ibra is like playing with Pirlo. The system often becomes revolved around the one player, which can be very risky when you don't have any other World Class players on the team. In the case of Barcelona, when one gets injured, he's almost forgotten, as they have multiple ways of replacing him. This model works best for the long run, so in this sense it is not all that awful to see him go, no matter how talented he is, or how much swag he possesses. On the other hand, Thiago Silva is clearly the Top 3 best defenders in the world. Most think he is the best defender, myself included. To sell him for any price sends a message that we are willing to sell our best players in their prime despite the project we have or wish to have. There is no player that can replace him, and no one of World Class stature that will be under 30M Euros. Therefore, selling him does not really do any good. Without any further explanation, his sale is nearly the worst sign given by Management that not only will they not sell the club, but they're going to continue running it in the poor manner that has been demonstrated for the last half-decade.

First of all, great post Blue! From what I know, you are a young member of this forum just like most of us. It seems to me that there maybe two or three older members of this board that disagree with some of the more radical ideas we present here. I believe both parties have positive points to make regarding the situation. It is important to have respect for the past generations and build on their achievements but it is also essential to learn from the new generation. They've had a kick-*** vantage point regarding most if these issues through-out the years and they are natural problem solvers. Barcelona became an absolute powerhouse in the modern World football by taking this initiative. The truth is that Milan didn't. We didn't need to exactly copy Barcelona's steps, but we could have carved our own way into this new era. I can certainly understand why the fans are angry with the management. Because bad decisions have been made that has affected every single one of us. Whether it's emotionally or financially. The situation with Maldini and Leonardo wasn't handled professionally. In Maldini we have the one absolute icon of the team in the Berlusconi era and at the end it is thrown away for petty reasons. In Leonardo we had one of the brightest and most influential directors in any football club but the management let him leave his post, take an unmeasured risk to let him become our footballing coach in the hopes of a miracle and when it didn't work, we let him leave our institution altogether. It is also very apparent that bar some cosmetic gestures, Berlusconi is nowhere near as interested in the functions of AC Milan as he once was (A time when a lot of good decisions were also being made regarding the club's affairs, coincidence?).

I'm sure deep down, most Milan fans are grateful to Belrusconi and co. for years of glory. But all we ask for now is transparency and some prudence on the management's behalf regarding their immediate and future plans. By the way which has nothing to do with Galliani's unconventional methods in the transfer market. I'm talking about a mission statement which is all but necessary at this point. No one appreciates being lied to and we all have been lied to all too much in the recent past by this management.

You just don't get it do you.

Best. Post. Evarrrrr

You just missed the point:
1- Top clubs in Europe have two/three times our Revenue income.
2- We cant afford what Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, United can afford. Because of point 1. We couldn't afford to replace Gattuso, Seedorf, Nesta etc ... The notable reinforcements came in the form of Silva and Ibra at what price? We just cant afford it all like the rest of Europe's elite.
3- We are cutting our wage bill to be FFP compliant. You have to understand this part - I strongly recommend that you use the internet to help you better understand what it means to be FFP compliant.

On hindsight, you can criticize freely. I'm not bothered anymore tbh, simply because the club has changed direction a while ago.

2) We couldn't afford to replace them? you mean to say we didn't want to replace them. We could have easily sold gattuso when offers from russia came in. Again I don't know where your getting this idea that were broke a$$ and can't afford sh!t. Tottenham spend more than us ffs.

3) FFP compliant laugh.gif Like I said earlier, when barca and madrid start putting stars up for sales to clear their massive debt thats crippling spain, i'll begin to worry.

I'm tired of this arguement too. Go live in your past glories and fond memories of berlusconi and galliani. For me there is none.

Not sure the fact I'm a older member automatically make me dilussional about past glories and the clubs situation now! As for new radical ideas from the younger members not sure I've seen any of them either but hey I'll bow to everybody's better judgement as you put it I'm clearly dilussional.
I could sit here and list countless great players that have left and the various reasons what we could have done to keep them but the fact exists we are just fans. Influential no..passionate yes. Blue you can say what you like about your coaching and the budgets you've had but can you realistically compare that with any top level club and the whole business operations they deal with. To know a clubs present and future you need to know there past and because maybe a couple of us older members have experienced more history perhaps makes us less radical in our thoughts as we know how the club usually progresses in situations like the present

No personal attacks are intended sorry for any offence caused
Bluesummers
bottom line is that you guys can accept what is going on with Milan because you've experienced the good of milan. You've experienced the high, you know what it feels like to be the best of the best. To have europe bow before you. You know what its like to have one of the best strikers, best defenders, best midfielders in history play on your team.

When I started watching milan it was the start of the decline, so yes I cannot be as optimistic as you guys. For me what is happening is a clear indication of mid table syndrome. That means the people who run the club are no longer motivated to make the club elite. Maybe you guys say its just a phase the club is going through and its going to be back to its best. For me I don't see it.

I see it as a sinking ship and if we continue to sink even more we will lose fans by the thousands, especially the young ones. As for me, even I have my limit. If milan want to be a club that fights for 13/14/15th every season, i'll move on as well as I have no ties to Milan nor am I italian. I chose to follow milan because of a few players I adored. Players who are no longer here because of the stupidity of a few people.

Just because I'm not ranting and raving doesn't mean I'm content and have acceptance of the current situation. I choose to conduct myself in a quiet way doesn't mean as any less passionate as the loudest fan.
Your comment about no longer supporting a club in decline unfortunately devalues any opinion you offer to me. You don't choose a club to support it chooses you. Yes I've seen arguably the greatest players dominate Europe and also seen some very very average sides but my support is not for turning so let the young radicals leave (rather you stayed) but bare this in mind, the world works in cycles to really enjoy the best times you have to experience the bad times!

So as the reports a few days ago suggest that Cassano is not happy with Milan's situation (sales and club ambition) and is looking for a way out.

Rumours in the press suggest that he might be on his way to Genoa as Preziosi wants him. There is also talk of Juventus being interested as well.

Cassano to Genoa? he wouldn't betray Sampdoria fans like that. if he leaves, he'll probably go back to Samp.

Moreover, if he leaves, we'll be even more ****ed.
