Yeah, I've heard it too. smile.gif Okay with me. In fact, I knew it deep down inside that this will happen very soon, what with Milan negotiating with the club and company that own Ganso.

not surprised this is the time of teh year we get linked with ganso one way or another

Milan's transfer rumors of late have been utterly dire. Nobody you know or would want....just more garbage players that everyone says "he'll add depth" when the first team is clearly in the $h!tter dry.gif

Silva and iBra and to a lesser extent Nesta and Abbiati are all that are keeping us from being mid table.
Everybody else is either too old, broke or cr@p

sorry to be so negative....but we can't keep fooling ourselves with this mediocre cast, myopic and one dimensional manager and idiotic board. Galliani has probably never had to work so hard to scour the earth for the best bang for Berlu's bucks.

Montilivo seems to be on everybody's wish list....the fact that such an abjectly mediocre player is DESIRED here is indicative of how far we have fallen. I mean, we NEVER though anyone would be as rubbish as Antonini till Mesbah came and made him look like Maldini......now he's securely placed in ppl's starting lineup dry.gif

Mexes was the one who made the god awful mistake, Antonini was in an either or situation, give the penalty or let Messi score. He chose to try to tackle him and unsurprisingly got the penalty. It was never his fault
William405
Messi was offside though wink.gif
acid911
Either way, were it Nests or better yet Maldini, I'd have changed my name if they'd have given it. Maldini in particular, he was so sublime, it hurt. sad.gif As for Antonini, offside or not, it was a total mess. His fault or not, he should have positioned himself better. At least, he ought to seeing as he's wearing our colors.

But it's futile to compare him to Paolo, or expect him to better position himself. Our LB position is balderdash!

Montolivo’s Milan deal revealed

The Nazione newspaper has revealed the terms of Riccardo Montolivo’s proposed move from Fiorentina to Milan.

The Rossoneri have apparently already wrapped up negotiations for the midfielder who will join the club on a Bosman in the summer.

The Italian international has allegedly agreed a contract until 2016 with the Diavolo, where he will earn €2.5m a season.

Montolivo, 27, was offered an extension by the Viola on numerous occasions but opted against committing his future to the Franchi outfit.

The former Atalanta player has scored two goals in 28 League games so far this season.

Not a world class player but surely a great upgrade to our midfield.
can he play as anchor?
X-Offender
Great upgrade? He's mediocre, at best. But these days players like Montolivo are the best we can afford. At least it's better than keeping Seedorf for another year.

Also, yesterday we agreed upon terms with Chievo for Francesco Acerbi. Genoa will sign him for €4 million and then turn him over to us.

It's not that hard to comprehend. tongue.gif Like I've said they are our farm club, and a lot of our deals are going to come through them. My only fear is that pretty soon other clubs are going to figure this out (the deal between Milan and Genoa) and then raise their prices when Genoa come knocking, because they'll know it is us in disguise.

Enough of Gattuso already. sad.gif Only one from him or Ambrosini should stay, and it shouldn't be Gattuso. I was kind of bored and largely disappointed by today's game this spurred me onto making the following list:

GK:
Marco Amelia - Back Up (Until better option can be acquired)
Flavio Roma - Means nothing to me if he goes or stays
Christian Abbiati - Our starting GK, must stay on as our starter until better is acquired

DF:
Taye Taiwo - Fv<k Off!
Philippe Mexès - Inconsistent but good enough for now (hard to see better coming in anytime soon)
Alessandro Nesta - Please Stay! (Good starter / rotation piece until backup arrives)
Djamel Mesbah - Meh... (largely inconsistent thus far, typical LB in current squad)
Gianluca Zambrotta - A legend of the last decade, but far that now (please retire!)
Ignazio Abate - Inconsistent at times and dip in form compared to last year (but still our best RB option)
Daniele Bonera - Proved to be a good back up this season; unless a substantial offer comes in he should remain
Thiago Silva - One of the best DFs in the world; MUST NOT BE SOLD!!!
Mattia De Sciglio Youngster with potential, good backup / rotation player for now
Mario Yepes - A backup player in my eyes and nothing more
Luca Antonini - Slightly better season than usualy (maybe?) - See Mesbah (above)

MF:
Mark van Bommel - Please Stay! (Good starter / rotation piece until better arrives)
Gennaro Gattuso - A legend in our last decade, but no more (please retire)
Clarence Seedorf - A legend in our last decade, but no more (please retire)
Sulley Muntari - interista (GTFO!)
Mathieu Flamini - Stay on as a rotation piece at a reduced wage (Better option would be to part ways)
Alberto Aquilani - One of our only creative players (loosing him without replacement would be stupid)
Antonio Nocerino - Must stay put; our best MF after Boateng!
Massimo Ambrosini - One of him & Gattuso must retire (preferably Gattuso)
Rodney Strasser - Youngster with potential, good backup / rotation player for now
Kevin-Prince Boateng - Our best MF! (Must Stay!!)
Urby Emanuelson - A utility player and nothing more (Best to part ways, but at present he serves as backup)
Alexander Merkel - Youngster with potential, good backup / rotation player for now

FW:
Alexandre Pato - sad.gif (what to say...) - next season will be his last chance for sure (if not already sold in Summer)
Filippo Inzaghi - A legend in our last decade, but no more (please retire)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic - The best attacking player on our team - Must stay put
Maxi López - A decent backup; but depending on the rest of our forwards, it may be hard to see our need for him
Robinho - Works hard, but as a 'striker' he was FAR too inconsisent this season. If an offer comes in part ways
Stephan El Shaarawy - Youngster with potential, good backup / rotation player for now
Antonio Cassano - Our most creative player and one of the most creative players around! - MUST REMAIN

Let's put in some numbers. We got a squad of 33+1 (Massimo Oddo) players. It's been suggested that we should let go of 10/11 players: Oddo, Taiwo, Yepes, Zambrotta, Bommel, Gattuso, Flamini, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Muntari and Inzaghi plus Pato (accumulated all prior statements of multiple posters). Say we keep Aquilani for kind of a Seedorf replacement, sign Montolivo as an addition, switch Pato with another striker, keep one of Rino/Ambro. Questionable is if Flamini will agree on a reduced contract, but say we do the same with him as well. We'd be still short of 2 midfielders, 2 fullbacks, one defender and one striker (especially if Maxi returns to Catania). The question is - can we honestly believe to sign 6 quality players?

Because if a Mesbah sort of fullback is the Zambrotta replacement, no thanks, I'll stick with that old geezer.

I know some of you guys want a minimal roster, but under the circumstances (MilanLab + many injury prone players) we simply cannot afford this strategy.

it has already been quoted that we are in teh RED. THe current league situation does not help either. So unless Silvio goes on a spending spree (which again I dont know how it will affect us on FFP) it is almost impossible to sign 6 quality player. I think there is a chance that we might sell robinho and pato to get some money in to balance the books.

Let see how it goes and how this season ends.

27 players would be more than enough. 3 GKs, 5 CBs, 4 FBs, 10 MFs and 5 FWs.

Namely:

GKs: Abbiati, Amelia, Roma.
CBs: Mexes, Silva, Nesta, Bonera, Acerbi.
FBs: Abate, NEW SIGNING, Antonini, Emanuelson.
MFs: Van Bommel, Traoré, Aquilani, Montolivo, Nocerino, Muntari, Boateng, NEW SIGNING, Strasser, Merkel.
FWs: Robinho/Pato, Cassano, Ibrahimovic, El Shaaraway, NEW SIGNING.

Acerbi, Traoré and Montolivo will come for free. If we manage to sign a FB (Cissokho), an AM (Eriksen) and a FW (Tevez), we'd be alright. Assuming Tevez will be signed with the money from Pato's/Robinho's sale, and Cissokho would cost less than €10 million, Berlusca should man up and cough €25 million to sign Eriksen.
Fillipo Simone
But there are problems in your roster.

First of all, are we really sure Traore and Acerbi will be signed? Secondly, you count Bommel, but he'll probably leave for PSV. That makes a big whole and a potential DM signing necessary. And even if Bommel stays, you really wanna sell me a midfield where the DM options are Strasser, Muntari and Bommel? We need a better backup, the youngster isn't ready while Muntari - well you know all about him. Or at least resign Ambrosini.

Thirdly, Allegri doesn't consider Emanuleson as a fullback. We signed Taiwo, then Mesbah. It shows how little Allegri plans on using Emo as a LB. This pattern will be repeated next season, I'm 100% sure.
X-Offender
Acerbi and Traoré are 99% Milan players. We've agreed terms with Chievo for a loan, whilst L'Equipe mentioned that the Nancy player already undertook medicals at Milanello. Of course, you can never be sure until the club announces it, but we should take it for granted. Same argument about Montolivo.

I don't know if van Bommel will leave or not, it's still a 50/50 situation, though the club has not contacted the player yet, which might only mean that we don't want to re-sign him and that we've already found a replacement. Remember, Keita can leave Barcelona for free this summer, and there were rumors a few months ago about how Galliani had found a deal with him. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he's our van Bommel replacement. The other options for DM will be Traoré and Ambrosini/Strasser. Not too shabby.

As for the LB part, Allegri tried Emanuelson yesterday there and he did very well. He also gave the cross for Ibra's goal. Maybe that will incline Allegri to play him there more often. But, if we do sign someone else in that role, like Cissokho or Armero, then that won't really matter.
Zed.D
I was gonna say I wouldn't mind Keita, then I checked his Wiki page and.. realmad.gif he's 32.

When was the last time we signed a decent midfielder who was under 30 and actually cost us money?

******* unbelievably cheap we've become.
Fillipo Simone
Well, we're broke, so yes - we need good and cheap options.

Anyway, Keita is not near Bommel. He'd be a step back.

That's called beng cheap. We have a budget deficit each season, which becomes the perfect excuse for Berlusconi to say that he spends €70 million every year for this club blah blah blah. He should man up and spend a little more for a change, otherwise he should shut up and not criticize Allegri and the team for not playing like Barcelona.

You are joking, right? Most football clubs are torn between massive debts and interest payements, and you think a measly €70 million per year is considered a problem? I do realize that our revenues are far inferior compared to what English, Spanish and German clubs earn, but I also do realize that our president is one of the most powerful and richest men in Italy, and that balancing the books every year should be taken for granted. We've become so cheap that we are not even willing to pay €6 million for a player like Aquilani, not to mention all the free-agent signings that are becoming a recurring trend in the last few years. And then he has the balls to criticize Allegri and the team for not playing like Barcelona? That is downright pathetic.

Remember, Keita can leave Barcelona for free this summer, and there were rumors a few months ago about how Galliani had found a deal with him. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he's our van Bommel replacement.

Around the same time the Keita rumors arose, I also recall some stating that Abidal could have come to us in the summer.

It's a real shame what has become of his health lately. sad.gif

He would have made a huge improvement at our LB position.
