From the players mentioned so far, I like:
Mbiwa
Sahin
Niang
We could add Palombo to that list for some nice depth too.

He said way more than just that, and no one of the ones who criticised Max said that what William said is perfectly fine.
When people say nothing about something, others can make up what they think about it? Really?

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 7 2012, 03:06 AM)

He's mainly a finisher, just like Pato.
Two forwards being mainly a finisher can go together (like Dzeko and Grafite at VfL Wolfsburg). Pato actually did well playing along with Inzaghi. Dzeko can also make space for Pato to score, and Dzeko is a decent passer for a striker. He should be able to both score and play along well (including giving assists). Dzeko is not (just) a poacher.
Boateng was an ideal AM with Ibrahimovic (creative, so a runner to play along with works very well), but now it will be interesting how that works. So it's also a concern of mine how that will be from now on. Hopefully we will have enough creativity in the team, which doesn't mean the new striker has to have a lot of creativity per say. Dzeko is not someone with zero creativity, but no Ibrahimovic or Cassano either.
Dzeko would be nice, while when looking at the attack we only have Pato as striker. Robinho, Cassano and even El Shaarawy are not goalscoring strikers. El Shaarawy may become that, but is not ready to count on as your second choice for a goalscoring striker in your team. So Dzeko would make a great addiction to this team.
And hopefully we will sign a creative midfielder. Besides Montolivo and Emanuelson, no midfielder has creativity, and that's very saddening and worrying - especially now we lost Ibrahimovic.

News:
-Davide Astori is available for around 8m says his agent.
-Mancini is willing to sell Dzeko but not on loan. He wants 25m and a permanent move.
-The finnivest amount given to Milan is around 29 million. This does not account for the 67m loss that the club took last year. It is believed that Silva and Ibra's transfer will cover that and also prevent us from incurring a major dip into debt next year.
-The gazprom rumour is picking up wind as more and more news sources are saying that Gazprom is indeed in a deal to buying milan shares. The media believes that they will buy 25% for 180m. Silvio Berlusconi met with Putin (president of gazprom) about a possible deal last week.
-Mourinho: I like good players. Modric? He is a good player but he is not a madrid player so I cannot speak about him.

So we've cut 60 million off the wage bill, but we're still at 130 million. Hmm.
Who are our 'overpaid' players at the moment?
I think, there's just Robinho and Mexes for the moment. Anyone else?

I like how you put overpaid in single quotes, Captain.

Jokes aside, this should have been done sooner. No, not the putting it on quotes, but lower our wage bill. It should never have been spiraled out of control in the first place.

Prior to this summer, we would have slit our throats by reducing the wages. The only reason our wages were so high, is to maintain the quality. Now that FFP is getting into gear, all clubs will reduce their wages respectively, hence we are reacting to the norms of the market as need be.

I know man, but that wasn't quality these past few years.

That's my point. Most of our senators, bar Nesta, were over the hill after the 2007 CL win. I can understand keeping them for "scemental reasons", but only at 1m per year or less. It was the natural end of a cycle, little did we need to artificially prolong it. And at that cost.

I first have to see before believing that the FFP will really do make a harsh shocking decision, like banning a team from Champions League, is what they can do, right? Hard to imagine for me that it actually will happen. (Not talking about Juventus per say, but any big team in Europe.)

The trouble is GdS have the math all wrong for FFP. It doesn't matter if they have 600 million transfer deficit. Maybe it has to be paid back over 30 years, which means it's like 20 million a year to be paid, no sweat.
FFP says you can have as much debt as you like provided you can make the interest payments every year from what you're earning.

Not sure if I'm reading it right. Because if it's a case of "can you afford it?" like above seems to say, then it's just going to make the rich even richer, surely?
Jack Sparrow
Aug 7 2012, 05:59 PM
Well you certainly don't get richer by paying off debt. So I don't get your point maybe. It is an extra expenditure. Besides you can spend a truckload of money only in the short term, like an initial investment. Any big club that has a budget deficit of more than 50 million year in year out without any owner backing will eventually collapse. And FFP does just that, reduce the impact that rich owners can have.

The way you worded it suggested you can spend what you like - so long as you can pay it off. Well, City/PSG/Chelsea can spend £200m a year on transfers and easily pay it off.
Anyway, saw on twitter Zapata on loan with a buy out. Had a bad season in Spain, but he was mostly good in Italy and still pretty young. Better him than some unknown.

I don't think so. Without owner backing? Are you sure? Considering their wage bill, and the fact that they have much less global reach compared to Madrid.

Don't know, it's being said that the Kaka operation could be too expensive and complicated for us because of his wages and the Spanish taxing system.
Is the G. Rossi link still alive because we could actually get him and Sahin on our budget and it would be a far more successful tranfer campaign than getting Kaka imo.
Add to that the 2 players combined would earn as much as Kaka alone would.
This Kaka move is stinking too much of nostalgia rather than using some brains. Which is exactly wat got us into this mess to begin with
