QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Aug 24 2012, 04:23 PM) @dst: Your comment about FFP not affecting how you run the company would be true anywhere except in Italy. Typically in Italy, the football clubs have been 'patronised' not 'operated'. Similar to how the kings of old would bankroll musicians to produce operas for them etc. It wasn't an investment with the expectation of return...just an expensive pursuit.
Milan were the same. We've always been making losses if thought of as a company. In fact if we were a 'proper' company we would have run to the ground by now. We make losses, Silvio/Finninvest covers them. For 26 years it's how we were run, it's how we were run when we won everything. Now we need to change and start again. I don't believe that we've had major losses. Maybe Milan was not bringing in profit for Berlusconi but he is first and foremost a businessman and there's no way I'm going to believe he's been holding on for so long to a company that's making him lose big money year after year. Even if he's the biggest Milan fan on Earth there's a limit to how big of a loss is acceptable and I think it was not all that big. QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Aug 24 2012, 04:23 PM) In a way I'm okay with this. I get to brag about how I love the jersey and not the cups we won. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) And you who became a fan after watching us get demolished 7-1 know exactly what I'm talking about. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) How do you remember that? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Does rum help your memory? edit: by the way, this makes you an obscurity hunter! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It makes me a masochist. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I think the major losses really started over the last decade, once the economy got shot, I don't think Finninvest was making the kind of money it used to anymore. Also, transfer fees exploded only then. That's when we suddenly had to plunge out way too much money just to stay at the same level we were at. The whole scale of what constituted 'big spending' in world football was altered first by Chelsea, then by Man City and now by PSG. And now we have reached the limit to the losses he can tolerate I imagine. Silvio by himself couldn't compete I guess. Of course I understand if there's a sale happening, it would be secret. Even the new buyers would want to be kept secret. I'm sure that we need outside investment to progress. And I also believe something is definitely afoot. Oh btw...Soldier Spy, I was referring to your military service, when you weren't on here much.

According to MilanNews, Madrid have still to pay us €8 million from the famous €65 million they used to purchase Kaká in 2009. Our offer to Madrid is a free loan with obligation of purchase for about €8-10 million. Also, if Kaká was to come on a free loan, his wage on the club's balance sheet for the year 2012 would weigh for only six months, as opposed to free loans coming from within Italy. For example, Constant is entirely put in our balance sheet for the year 2012, (purchase fee + wage), whilst Kaká would only be put for his gross wage for the second half of 2012. LinkHope that made any sense. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
