Whoa! Haha...I suppose I should be grateful we just have R80.

Italy's squad dont know how rino is in it and ambro is not
Jack Sparrow
Wow! Cossu and Borriello!! king.gif
kurtsimonw
That is probably the weakest Italian squad I've seen for a major tournement.

Still probably make at least the QFs though.

I was thinking the same thing.

Regardless FORZA ITALIA !!

Note that the call ups don't include any Roma (or inert) players, who will be added later.

Shockingly poor call ups. I'm amazed that Miccoli isn't there.

I agree with my friends in Milan - Italy will get out of the group stages and perhaps win one or two more games. If they're lucky.

why are roma and inter players not included on top of my head de rossi should be in the squad
Fishdoll
Because the Coppa final (between roma and inert) is this Wednesday and the pre-camp thingy is the first part of this week. De Rossi will absolutely be included.

If Pepe is in then anyone can just walk onto this team. Rino had an awful season, but it's just another Lippi thing, the fact that half that team is made out of Gobbi should be an answer in and of itself. No player on that team should be included in any NT squad, yet Italy is practically all blacks and whites....

I mean no Cassano but Iaquinta walks into the team whenever he's fit??? TOTAL BS!!!
Fishdoll
Actually, I have no problem with Buffon, Iaquinta, Chiellini, or Marchisio getting called up. Iaquinta is one of those guys that a lot of folks don't like much but also one of those guys who quietly goes about his business and is pretty damn effective. Do folks really think that Buffon, Chiellini, and Marchisio dont' deserve calls?

Glad to see Cossu and Palombo on the list - those two deserve it. Ditto Bonucci.
X-Offender
My Italy first line-up:

Buffon; Zambrotta, Bonucci, Chiellini, Criscito; De Rossi, Marchisio, Pirlo; Di Natale, Borriello, Iaquinta.

However, I would have replaced Di Natale and Iaquinta with Balotelli and Cassano and Zambrotta with Antonini or Santon.

These two are trouble on their own... I can't imagine what would happen if they had to be together!
X-Offender
You never know, they could become best friends. biggrin.gif
Fishdoll
That....could be very scary. biggrin.gif

Oh I'm not worried about them, I'm sure they'll get along fine!

Just a note/reminder: the preliminary lists have to be submitted tomorrow (May 11). Some are already out.

EDIT:

For example, here's the Spain squad:

Here, according to Mediaset, is Lippi's list:

QUOTE
Portieri: Buffon, De Sanctis, Marchetti, Sirigu

Difensori: Bocchetti, Bonucci, Cannavaro F., Cassani, Chiellini, Criscito, Grosso, Maggio, Zambrotta

Centrocampisti: Camoranesi, Candreva, Cossu, De Rossi, Gattuso, Marchisio, Montolivo, Palombo, Pepe, Pirlo

Attaccanti: Borriello, Di Natale, Gilardino, Iaquinta, Pazzini, G.Rossi, Quagliarella
Jack Sparrow
Borriello!! cool.gif
X-Offender
So, how do you guys think Italy should play? If I were Lippi, I'd opt for a 4-3-3 line-up.

Buffon
Zambrotta - Bonucci - Chiellini - Criscito
De Rossi - Marchisio
Pirlo
Di Natale - Borriello - Rossi

Obviosuly though he'll play the depleted Cannavaro and Gilardino the magician.
Fishdoll
You dont' have enough gobbi in that lineup for it to be Lippi's squad, X-Off! smile.gif

This fish likes your lineup, though. It'd do better than what we'll probably be subjected to.
Jack Sparrow
I doubt he'd drop Camoranesi or Cannavaro...

Not sure about Camoranesi, there are rumours he could drop him from the list.
han2503
I still can't believe that Pepe can be anywhere near that list!
Jack Bauer
How can he take Gattuso ove Ambrosini after this season?

Here's Brazil's call up list (courtesy of tuttomercatoweb):

Thiago called up, Pato and Ronaldinho NOT.
Jack Bauer
No Ronaldinho and especially Pato in Brazil squad. I wish Dunga to be fired as soon as possible.
CrazyMilanFan
baptista is in the squad and r80 is not strange but dont know what formation do brazil play
Fishdoll
Works for me. That way Ronaldinho and Pato will be healthy when the season starts in September.
Danny
Wow, that Italian squad is absolutely garbage.

Not surprised Pato's not called up - he's had a pretty poor season really bar his goals. Injuries and form have blighted him.

Ronaldinho was never being called up in a month of Sundays.

yeah, and Im also suprised thar Pato aint playing but he has been injured to..
Zed.D
Somehow I'm not as sad as I normally should be for Pato's omission.

He's young, I believe he'll be monster in time for the next world Cup, which is in Brazil and the Micky Mouse won't be around anymore to ruin it for them with his stupid decisions. plus, he's had an injury-plagued season which caused his form to drop as well. no coach would have called him up. unless he was Robinho or something, and that coach was Mr. puke.gif .

Shame about Dinho, though. what more should he have done to prove he deserves to be there instead of, say, Baptista?

I wish Brazil a horrible World Cup. can't wait to see them fail big time.
kurtsimonw
I will just say it's going to be a great World Cup if you're a Scotland/Wales/Ireland fan.
Fishdoll
Gosh. Is anyone except maybe for Spain happy with their squad?
kurtsimonw
I will be happy if we play our best XI in every game and have no injuries and make no subs, because were fucked if we do. Carragher, Walcott, Parker, King and Huddlestone are slightly embarassing picks. sad.gif
samira
Both players in Catania is going to play for Uruguay, but I belive that Brazil is going to fail.. Big time !

I'm generally positive and see the QFs as a great acheivment, but were going to fail. Much to the joy of all the none-English Brits that I know.

So you don't really agree with the Sun's optimism. Maybe, just maybe...

Agreed.

But I still feel sorry for both of our players, especially for Dinho, who's pretty much done all he can to justify his inclusion, yet Baptista, Robinho, etc get picked over him...

Hopefully Brazil fail as badly as they did 4 years ago

unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH ZEDDIE?

(and your inbox is full. psst)
Zed.D
No, really. he has barely played in 2010 and seems to be prone to injuries these days. and we knew Dunga always hated him anyway. he will achieve with Brazilian NT before he retires. that's for sure.

I deleted some pms a couple of hours ago unsure.gif

PS: Tennie!
MizNelson
Never mind; I take back what I said earlier.
Zed.D
Yeah, he's called up the joke that is Bastos. of course you have to applaud him rolleyes.gif he's a ******* clown that just makes everyone laugh!

It's stupid. Given our history, size, World ranking, etc. I think QFs is decent enough. To expect more that is silly. Sure, we can hope for it, but The Sun tends to dump expectation on the team and it ain't right. We're good, but we're far from being the best. Though if we could win shootouts I feel we'd have more trophies as we're tough to beat in 90/120, unfortunately it's a mental block for us. sad.gif
