Still probably make at least the QFs though.

Note that the call ups don't include any Roma (or inert) players, who will be added later.
Shockingly poor call ups. I'm amazed that Miccoli isn't there.
I agree with my friends in Milan - Italy will get out of the group stages and perhaps win one or two more games. If they're lucky.

why are roma and inter players not included on top of my head de rossi should be in the squad

Because the Coppa final (between roma and inert) is this Wednesday and the pre-camp thingy is the first part of this week. De Rossi will absolutely be included.

If Pepe is in then anyone can just walk onto this team. Rino had an awful season, but it's just another Lippi thing, the fact that half that team is made out of Gobbi should be an answer in and of itself. No player on that team should be included in any NT squad, yet Italy is practically all blacks and whites....
I mean no Cassano but Iaquinta walks into the team whenever he's fit??? TOTAL BS!!!

Actually, I have no problem with Buffon, Iaquinta, Chiellini, or Marchisio getting called up. Iaquinta is one of those guys that a lot of folks don't like much but also one of those guys who quietly goes about his business and is pretty damn effective. Do folks really think that Buffon, Chiellini, and Marchisio dont' deserve calls?
Glad to see Cossu and Palombo on the list - those two deserve it. Ditto Bonucci.

My Italy first line-up:
Buffon; Zambrotta, Bonucci, Chiellini, Criscito; De Rossi, Marchisio, Pirlo; Di Natale, Borriello, Iaquinta.
However, I would have replaced Di Natale and Iaquinta with Balotelli and Cassano and Zambrotta with Antonini or Santon.

So, how do you guys think Italy should play? If I were Lippi, I'd opt for a 4-3-3 line-up.
Buffon
Zambrotta - Bonucci - Chiellini - Criscito
De Rossi - Marchisio
Pirlo
Di Natale - Borriello - Rossi
Obviosuly though he'll play the depleted Cannavaro and Gilardino the magician.

Somehow I'm not as sad as I normally should be for Pato's omission.
He's young, I believe he'll be monster in time for the next world Cup, which is in Brazil and the Micky Mouse won't be around anymore to ruin it for them with his stupid decisions. plus, he's had an injury-plagued season which caused his form to drop as well. no coach would have called him up. unless he was Robinho or something, and that coach was Mr.
.
Shame about Dinho, though. what more should he have done to prove he deserves to be there instead of, say, Baptista?
I wish Brazil a horrible World Cup. can't wait to see them fail big time.

It's stupid. Given our history, size, World ranking, etc. I think QFs is decent enough. To
expect more that is silly. Sure, we can hope for it, but The Sun tends to dump expectation on the team and it ain't right. We're good, but we're far from being the best. Though if we could win shootouts I feel we'd have more trophies as we're tough to beat in 90/120, unfortunately it's a mental block for us.
