Walcott looked like he dislocated his shoulder.. Sagna, Ade hurt too. With tough fixtures against Man Utd, Aston Villa, and Chelsea coming up later this month. They can focus on CL now like liverpool in years past.. .but they shouldn't make Milan's mistake and finish 5th sleep.gif

Sh!t player. Missed an open goal before the tap in.

Anyway... EPL:

-Cristiano starting to play some football, United winning and climbing up the table.
-Chelsea has no proper wingers, nor decent CF bar Drogba.
-Liverpool need Torres.
-Arsenal seems to be focused on the CL.

With this, I think United will win the title as long as the world player player doesn't get injuried. He's 75% of that team.

It's in moments like this I miss Adams the most. When the score went to 4-3, he would have calmed the defence and grinded through those last seconds and got us the points. It wouldn't have been pretty, but it was that mentality that won the Cup-winner's cup and a bunch of League and FA Cup titles.

So I guess the two pitcher of beers will have to wait till early next year? sad.gif It's about time Arsenal won the derby, been two games running. At least it wasn't as bad as the 5-1, huh, Lock? Bah, the Gunners should have won this one!

I'm not a Pompey fan, and I really hate him anyway. That's the 2nd time he's walked out on Pompey recently, the first time was to their big local rivals, Southampton, a few years ago.. I hate that guy, I actually prefer Arsenal to Spurs now!

Newcastle 2-0 Villa. Martins with both goals in the 2nd half.

Really poor performance from my lot, but it's about time we lost one as we've been in pretty good form of late. Better to drop points against the crappy teams and beat teams around you than the other way around though I suppose so I can't complain too much.

We're considering approaching the FA over some of Joey Bartons actions towards Agbonlahor too, so looks like another ban is in order from him. rolleyes.gif

I did sympathise with him, and I stand by my decision to have done so. He was basically getting punished for the same offense over and over which is stupid really and unfair, even for him.

But yeah, if he keeps it up then he should be gone, a lifetime ban from England would be nice.

Charlton: “Ronaldo's better than Best”
442 Staff - Today, 13:48

Sir Bobby Charlton has given Cristiano Ronaldo the greatest compliment imaginable: by declaring him better than George Best.

In an interview published in the new edition of FourFourTwo magazine, Sir Bobby, a former team-mate of Best and now a director of Manchester United said: “George had the ability to turn people inside out and beat anyone he liked. He was as good as anyone you will see, he used to embarrass players time and time again.

It was paradise watching George play football, just like it is with Ronaldo now... the only difference is that Ronaldo is probably stronger and faster.

The Portuguese winger was today named the No.1 player in the world in FourFourTwo’s annual 100 Best Players in the World but despite his incredible achievements in 2008, some critics say that he is too much of an individual, frequently hogging the ball and the limelight while team-mates put in the hard graft.

But Sir Bobby says that Best was just the same: “Yes, he could also be frustrating, he held on to the ball for too long, you would get yourself into a great position and hope he would pass the ball, but most of the time he didn’t. However, he usually scored or made the keeper make a save.”

In the same interview, Sir Bobby spills the beans on 1966, turning down Newcastle, his brother Jack, life at Old Trafford with the Glazers and that dreaded comb-over.

Right. The only remaining thing I wanted to know. Maybe he is?! rolleyes.gif But I still can't wait for him to sign up for Real Madird, and then see how much praise is heaped upon him, then. He'll probably be just another diving Portuguese then. Then again, he's about to get a contract extension for £150,000 per week (from £120,000) up till the year 2013. So who know!

PS: I don't mean to bash CR in anyway. smile.gif It's just that George Best became George Best when he was a finished article towards the end of his career. Christiano still has a long way to go, in my opinion, even though he may be on the right track.

Faster & stronger doesn't necessarily mean better. Anyways, this is a lame argument anyways, almost 99% of the world's top footballers are physically stronger and faster now than let's say 20 years ago or so...

i think what he's saying is that he has the same qualities and abilities as best + he's stronger and faster, not that i actually believe this but i think if he continues with this sort of form then who knows. but it's true what you said about players 20 years ago.
kurtsimonw
George Best is overhyped in my opinion anyways, he wasn't even Uniteds best player from that generation. Plus he stopped playing at the top level of football at what.. 27/28? But I agree than Ronaldo is better than Best, from what I've seen.

Yes they all were on their bad day today. but superstars are meant to make the differences on these occasions. shining when your whole teammates are doing great is much easier. winning the games single handedly when your teammates are playing like crap is something I'm still not convinced Ronaldo is capable of.

And Berbatov... seriously, how is that player worth 30 million pound? he's a really smart striker but absolutely lazy! had he put half of the effort Rooney did Man U would have ended up scoring a goal or two.

He is still young. People expect too much of him. For example, Porty claims he's "clearly the best player in the world". I certainly disagree. He's the best there is when it comes to killing mid/low-quality teams but in my opinion it is in the bigger games where one wins that tag. And in the big games he is not better than the greatest players of this era; Kaka, Messi, Xavi, Ibra, Casillas, ... but he is still 23... I don't remember Zidane being better at this age and he is the best player I've ever seen!

Tevez and Berbatov? I'd give a lot for the Argentinian and I would give **** for Berbatov!

Yes and it was a good goal. Unfortunately when rating players, scoring one goal every now and then and playing shite for the other 95 minutes doesn't usually mean you're any good.

I think this big game thing is inaccurate, as far as I know he has a decent record against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, then he scored in the CL Final, not sure what people want from him to be honest. In any case, I don't think it is the big games these stars need to be good in, we know all too well with Milan that it's easy for players to be really up for it in the big games, but it's against the small teams that we've often struggled against, United rarely have that problem with Ronaldo on there team, he shows up for them games.

Decent game? yes. decent game for someone who is to win all the individual awards in one month's time, someone who scored 42 goals last season, someone who is considered by many the best player in world right now, etc.? IMO not at all. he was average like most of his teammates.

And we're talking about now, not 5 years later! I say if he's that good why he fails to make an impact in big games regularly?

Besides Messi is two years younger than Ronaldo and has already shined in many big games.

Non sense. Ronaldo is 10 times more regular than Messi will ever be. Messi is as regular as Robben.
