Okay, considering. Though with the amount of drink I've had during the wedding then before/after the game, I'll probably bleed alcohol at the moment. Oh, and Scouse accents on some girls are just fantastic. biggrin.gif

Best. Game. Ever.

We started off with Stevie Sidwell scoring a cracking 25 yarder after 30 seconds, quickest goal in the EPL this season. Lescott, a Villa fan, scored an equaliser before HT. Ashley Young intercepted a bad Jagielka backpass and finished off really well 10 minutes into the second half. Lescott scored in the final minute of injury time to equalise and then celebrated in an over the top fashion in front of the fans of the teams of which he supposedly supports - what a prick. With the game seemingly over, Laursen heads the ball forward, Gabby gets a touch onto Young who then plays the ball one side of Lescott and runs around the other side of him, and keeps a cool head to finish in the dying seconds.. then runs the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of us, making fun of Lescotts celebration 30 seconds earlier. biggrin.gif

It was so fantastic.

ya i saw the extended highlights seemed pretty crazy, but my overall vibe was that everton outplayed you guys.

Villa are "outplayed" every week. We're a fast breaking team that allows our opponent to push forward, then once we get posession we break and they're left with very few players back. That's why we struggle at home against bad teams, because we aren't a team built to break others down.

I think there has been very few games where we've had more posession that our opponents.

Was a great game even though the referee ruined it as best he could. He was appauling. Not biased, just crap for either team.

Everton vs Villa is the most played fixture in English football history. Weirdly we both had not only 70 wins each before yesterdays game, but we'd even scored the same amount of goals! I tlooked like it was going to stay that way.. Ashley had other plans. biggrin.gif

Some news just in from the FA..

Villa vs Chelsea has been moved to a Saturday 12:30 kick-off (In order to give Chelsea rest before there CL game the following Tuesday. The problem with this is that Villa may be playing away in the UEFA Cup the Thursday before. So they've moved the game in order to help Chelsea, forgetting that Villa will now have to play away in Europe on a Thursday night, then have to play on a Saturday morning.

Well done to the FA, they've shown where there priorities lie, fuckers.

Unfortunately, I can't wish bad for Chelsea this time Kurt. unsure.gif Else Liverpool will get more of a breathing space at the top. This was the same feeling for me with Locke last week. I don't want Livers to win the league in the next 100 years, but this one's bad from FA, I'll agree.

Just watched the Arsenal highlights and I'm shocked at their supporters. Eboue was playing fairly poorly, so the Arsenal fans kept booing there own player when he touched the ball, which resulted in him playing even worse and getting subbed off.

The Arsenal fans I know claimed they're entitled to boo him because he should be playing well. Well I think the Arsenal players should start booing the fans for their shite performances, you can hear a pin drop at the Eimirites. Maybe if you got behind the team you'd start playing better? OR, maybe you don't deserve better, why should these guys play for you when you treat them like that? Ridiculous.

If you think that's bad you should never attend a Schalke game. Ask Kevin Kuranyi. They boo at him every weekend. (OK...he really IS bad but like you say...it doesn't make him play better.)
kurtsimonw
I just think the whole point is to get behind your team, booing them is hardly going to help, if you've got that attitude you may as well watch it from home. I wouldn't AS much if they were usually noisy fans that got behind the team, but they aren't.

I'm totally with you.

You can't be booing your team or any player in particular when they are playing, that's not beneficial to anyone. What's justified since fans pay to watch their club's players fight and try hard is to boo them at the end of the game if they have shown lack of desire.

I don't like Eboue either but that was harsh and unfair.

I'll Leave Arsenal - Fabregas
The clock is not exactly ticking yet, but Cesc Fabregas affirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal when his current deal expires...

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has reiterated his desire to move away from the club and back to Spain upon completion of the terms of his current contract.

Fabregas still has six years to run on his current Gunners deal, having signed a long-term agreement in October 2006.

However, the Barcelona-schooled 21-year-old admits that he still harbours a long-term ambition to feature in La Liga.

The Euro 2008 winner conceded in the interview with Radio Marca that not even his place in the Arsenal line-up can be guaranteed, but affirmed that he is still happy and motivated at the Emirates.

Fabregas was handed the captaincy last month after manager Arsene Wenger stripped it from William Gallas, and the midfielder admits that the responsibility has had an effect on his game.

Nevertheless, Fabregas stated that it is a question of 'when' rather than 'if' he returns to ply his trade on the Iberian peninsula.

He told Radio Marca: "The idea has always been the same. That's why I signed such a long contract.

"What happens is that nobody in football has guaranteed place anywhere. Today everything is so changeable, so complicated that you never know, but the truth is that I'm very happy, very motivated and being captain is an extra incentive.

"Everybody knows that one day I would return to Spanish football. It's an experience I want to live. I want to play in Spain as a professional."

i could easily see him starting for villa

young-barrry-gourcuff-agbonlahor

with sidwell, reo-coker or even barry hodling, carew the lone man.

Well it depends on how much you see the team, because there is no mention of Petrov there, yet he is running away with our Player of the Season by a ridiculous distance at the moment. Agbonlahor is not a wide player and Barry is wasted as a holding player.

(If we had Gourcuff and everyone was fit) our best midfield 5 would be.. Young - Barry - Petrov - Sidwell - Milner. Reo-Coker and Sidwell an interchangable. Gourcuff is not good enough wide to displace Milner or Young, he doesn't have the strength to really play in there centre, nor can he win the ball back. He may be decent going forward, but Sidwell already has 3 goals in 5 starts for us, Petrov is our player of the season, and Barry is arguably our most talented player (and probably the most in-form England player). Think of taking Sidwell/Reo-Coker/Petrov out of the team as Gourcuff replacing Gattuso, I'm not sure many coaches would do it.

Being able to play without space, having strength and closing players down is important in this league. Highly tipped youngsters like Modric have found it very difficult, because there game is based on being able to have time on the ball, I think Gourcuff is the same in that respect. They would suit a different league.

Another reason he wouldn't play is our manager. MON thinks long and hard before he brings in a player, he brings in people with a certain type of attitude - we no longer have trouble makers at the club - and work ethic. Ability may be a good thing, but if you aren't willing to work hard, then you won't be playing for him. If you're a winger, but don't get back and defend, then it's like you're playing with 10 men when they're in posession, and that's something he won't have.

Ashley Young is our most exciting player going forward, but he's expected to do things like this in his own box too.

About time we showed up at home. We were poor last week and won 3-2, we were average this week and won 4-2. Maybe we've finally become a good team, where we don't need to play well to win. Ashley Young is World class, Gabby should be starting for England, he got his 9th and 10th goals of the season today. While Ashley Young is now on 10 assists already, insane

Well for a team that's got the highest goal difference (+29), the most goals scored (36), the least conceded (7) was the best team in the league for quite a while, and is in 2nd place at the moment, he's got to be doing something right. Sure, his home record is appalling, but I won't mind that one bit if Chelsea win the league title this season.

As much as I'd like to see Arsenal or even Villa win it, I know for a fact that it's a long shot. Chelsea is my only hope for any of Liverpool and Manchester United not winning it. sleepysmiley03.gif And that's the reason the last few weeks have been pretty bad for me. I'm not a Chelsea fan, but there are some things I don't want. And those are: 1) Liverpool winning the league. 2) Man U winning it yet again. Plus the reason that I like Big Phil has got nothing to do with it, I promise.

Why do you thin Vialli was bad? Okay, he wasn't good either, but that Barca-Chelsea clash...gee, one of the best CL thrillers I ever watched (in that format)! Remember Ferrer score?

Anyway, in England I support mostly the smaller teams, Blackburn, Everton, Nottingham,...and Villa, after I met you Kurt. Even if Villa had two of my alltime hated footballers - Bosko Balaban and Paul Merson.
