Sorry for double posting, but...

M'boro 2-1 Tottenham. Mido scores against his old club 2 minutes after coming on.

And there was history made today. Hull City won its first ever Premiership game... that's special for them. I hope they do well as I view them as the underdogs... they came back from one goal down.

Hull City 2 - Fulham 1.

Excuse me? Dominated? Kurt, we had about 65% possesion and nearly double the attempts.
Besides, we have 7 players injured and the first day of the season isn't the day when you should impress the most, you should just focus on taking 3 points.
Adebayor was partly unlucky and partly very clumsy today, but hell he creates chances out of nothing. Nasri impressed me to the core, this being his PL debut and all.

Oh, and Eboue needs to go. He had three shots on goal today from about 20 metres out, and all curled AWAY from the goal. All of them.

I agree you should just go for the 3 points, and that's what you got. But West Brom are a Championship quality team who lost their best two players (Phillips & Gera) over the summer, but they had no trouble walking through your midfield. Posession? Yes, you did have tonnes more posession, I never questioned Arsenals ability with the ball, but football is a game of two teams, so you also need to be good when THEY have the ball. And for me, Johan Djouru saved your *** with that clearance off the line. I just wasn't impressed at all.

Adebayor was very poor. When he missed his 5th chance even the Arsenal fans began to boo him, which is a good indicator of how poor he was.

In my opinion, you need a DM of some kind, you can't play with that midfield again. Just look at Spurs today, all these high profiled flair signings, but they played with no DM, and look what happens, they get beat against Boro. laugh.gif They didn't even create many chances, and their goal was scored by a Boro player.

It was a poor display from Liverpool, but they were unlucky not to be leading earlier. What was Keane doing blocking Torres' certain goal? blink.gif

Well I'd never wish Hull the same fate (I personally hope they at least survive a season... Sunderland finally did it... keep in mind Sunderland had the lowest point record ever in the Top flight a few years ago, though Derby even had less). Hull seem to have an all around stronger team than Derby, but I'll shut up now and say something mid way through the season. Geovanni is not bad...

They have such a terrible squad. They're going to rely heavily on Geovanni to create anything, if he gets injured.. God help them. There is a long history of teams doing well when they first get promoted, but that'll soon change.

Sunderland are too big for the Championship, they're a big club with a board willing to invest money, there was never any doubt they were going to be safe last season for me.

I'm not sure why Man City released Geovanni, he only seemed to play the first half of the season for them - which coicidentally they did very well - then seemed to stop playing him for some reason. huh.gif

But I see where you're coming from. I only dislike them (hate is too strong a word for someone like me) for their arrogance, their we-always-win-because-we-always-deserve-it mentality. It was fantastic, unfortunately I couldn't drink. I had a match to play afterwards. dry.gif A very pleasing result and performance. I would complain about the 2 we let in, but one was a really bad dive for a penalty and the other was just a lapse in concentration in the defense late on. I don't find it acceptable, but we have 2 new defenders and a new GK, they'll take time to get used to each other.

I hope Mr. Capello feels silly now. After finishing the English player with the most assists last season, Ashley Young has jumped to the top of the assist table again, but no call up? And Gabby has 4 goals in 4 days.. but no call up!

Man City do play some great football, particularly Elano and Petrov, but big props to Reo-Coker, he seems to be getting better every game, great work rate and engine, he just never stops running and his break up play is incredible. All in all I'm very happy.. but it;s 1 game into the new season, can't be getting carried away.

Like? I don't like them... I just can't see where all this hating comes from... Besides, the Liverpool fanboys hate them so... that makes them my allies...

Since the EPL started, they've had ridiculous amounts of silly calls go for them, some really outrageous ones. Even if the early years of the EPL. They needed to beat Sheff Wednesday to win the league, the were 1-0 down at OT in stoppage time - 3 minutes were added on - their goals came in the 95th and 96th minutes. There's been a long history of it.

THey were also the original Chelsea. When £1m transfers were considered massively expensive, they were spending that on pretty much every player they bought, while other teams were having to try and find free agents to fit their team. THey basically bought everything they won.

Then you have their fans. I have no problem with people supporting the top teams who aren't local to them to an extent, but it's the constant bragging and the lack of knowledge towards the team that makes it annoying. Some United fans still think the likes of Cantona and Schmeichel play for them, that's how ridiculous it can get, honestly!

1. They cry out every time someone mentions the Busby plane crash, but they think it's perfectly fine to sing stuff like "Hillsbourgh was not enough" and decorate Old Trafford with banners insulting other clubs and players.

2. Alex Ferguson.

3. Even their own captain said the fans were more concerned about their shrimp sandwiches than the match being played.

4. They're utter, absolute and complete pr*cks.

5. Alex Ferguson.

#2 & #5 Because Arsene Wenger, he's such a gentleman of the sport right?!

#1 I don't think they do sing that, maybe the tiniest majority but nothing like the city fans who sing about Munich although they were pretty respectful last year. I think there is a difference between banter and singing about people dying though and they have every right to be upset about that in my eyes.

#3 Agreed about the fans they are quiet as hell but that shouldn't really diminish them should it? I mean at least these fans have been to Old Trafford not like the 98% of Manchester United fans around the globe.

I'm no fan of them but I agree with dst this whole hatred of them seems to be a bit silly. But then again you don't hate clubs unless there good so I guess there's that.

EDIT: A quick note on Valerie Bojinov: He only managed 5 games last season, scoring 2 goals, before he had some cruciate ligament injury keeping him out for the rest of the season. Ashley Young is ready to commit himself to a new Villa deal and this evening reflected: "This is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."

John Carew and Gabby Agbonlahor penned new deals last week and Martin O'Neill is now keen to reward Young with a new contract.

Young has welcomed that news and reflected: "What about my own contract situation? I am just happy playing my football. But, if anything like that comes about, I'll be delighted.

"I've got this season and two more years left. I'm happy, really happy with how things are going, happy here at Aston Villa.

"I am just looking to build on the performances of last season during this season and I'm glad we got off to a good start at the weekend against Manchester City.

"Would I like to commit to a new contract? Of course. It is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."
