Everton is another historic club.
BTW, thinking on Newcastle, Spurs, Everton and City. Who has more fans in the UK + who are the most loyal ones? Just curiosity.
This question is obviously to the British Crew in MF: kurt, Brill, I_Ross, etc.
Who has the most fans outside of the big 4? Probably Newcastle. But there's a reason why. Spurs are in London, there's alot of people there yes, but there's 7 or 8 teams in the top 2 divisions alone. Villa are in Birmingham and although we're the most supported team in the West Midlands we have 7 or 8 other Midlands clubs in the top 2 divisions. Everton and City are in the North West so share their support with each other plus the likes of United, Liverpool, Blackburn, Bolton, Wigan, etc. Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are the only 3 teams of any note within miles up in the north east, so both Sunderland and Newcastle have alot of support to share between each other. As for loyal.. that's hard to say, I don't think there's an answer for that.
In my opinion? Newcastles reputation of great support comes from the fact they have a huge stadium, and that's about it. It seems Everton, ourselves and a few other clubs are expanding their stadium to around the 50k mark, and then Newcastle will be just another club.
Going on both past and present I'd rank the teams.. United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Everton, Spurs then there's a big gap. City are probably next followed by Blackburn and then Newcastle.
Anyways the game tonight..
FT Spurs 1-2 Villa.
Reo-Coker and Ash Young put Villa 2 up, Darren Bent equalised with a deflection late on. In truth we were the better side and if it was not for a few Gomes saves and missed chances we could have had a lot more. Spurs the only team in the league without a win and keep resting players in the league in order to use them in the UEFA Cup.. keep this up and you'll get relegated!
