It won't happen. MA is what's the correct Anglican expression Mr. Walker? Taking a piss at us fans?

He doesn't want to sell. Just make people believe he wants to. He's hoping to tide over the storm like the Glazers did, and he's counting on being underground for it to help. The trouble is, this is Newcastle, not Man U. The fans are not gonna be content to just sit and watch. They're more proactive.

MA reasons, if he can get things right, Newcastle are such a HUGE money making proposition. There are just no rivals for loyalties. Besides there are a bunch of blokes like me who remember the Toon of yore and still maintain a large soft corner for them. Again this can be capitalised on.

Disagree with the loyalty thing.. these are the same fans that said they weren't going to go to the Hull game as protest? Villa and Liverpool have both wanted their respective owners out in recent years, but we make our voices heard inside the stadium.. so how loyal and Newcastle even fit in the same sentence..

You obviously didn't hear what the United fans did about the Glazer takeover then? They created a new club after the takeover, they were that desperate to support a team not owned by Glazer.

Taking the piss, not a piss. biggrin.gif Yeah, I don't think he wants to sell, he's just making it look like he is. He's said to have been in talks with people in the UAE, Quatar, Saudi Arabia and one other country, a few of these have been denied so it looks like he's just making stuff up. David O'Leary will be the final nail in the coffin, he's a terrible manager, if he's hired.. I fear for Ashleys life.

Better him than Houghton. At least there will be some stability...provided he's not given money to make transfers.

Houghton is a decent guy, did a superb job at Spurs with Jol, but it would be best to have a full time manager I suppose. O'Leary generally does have a good first season, so as long as you fire him after a season.. tongue.gif
Jack Sparrow
If it were upto me...I'd bring in either Laudrup or Ten Cate. Both of whom are used to playing under this new hierarchical structure AND we'd be entertaining too.

Thing is...last I checked neither of them were interested in filing applications for a circus.

Your attendance against Hull was 2.5k higher than the one against Bolton surprisingly. Not sure why there was only 47k vs Bolton, particularly since that was after the 1-1 draw at United. unsure.gif

Birmingham want new stadium

Well it seems the dark side want a new stadium. I'm no expert with how you go about getting a new one, but this seems about as stupid as it can get. The city council will put some money forward for it, which in itself is going to cause a nightmare, as not everybody in Birmingham is a Birmingham City fan so we aren't exactly going to be delighted with paying for their new stadium.

2nd of all the location is stupid, it's right next to Villa Park, literally a few hundred yards away and since most Birmingham fans are from the south.. why move it away from where the fans are? The location is very busy as well, and access to the stadium would be poor, so how on earth they plan to work that one out I have no idea.

The final thing is the size. When they were in the Premier League, they couldn't sell out their 28,000 stadium, there were even spare seats for the derby game! Yet they plan on building a 60,000 seater? laugh.gif It would be half full on not be television friendly, you want a stadium that is going to be nearly full, otherwise it's going to feel empty and that doesn't help with the atmosphere. It'd be like Villa wanting a 90,000 seater, we would just never fill it. 0% chance of this happening.
Jack Sparrow
Are they banking on a major player taking over? I reckon, another Manchester City type takeover, with consequent market dealings, would handle 60,000 seasts easily.
kurtsimonw
Nah. They had some guy interested in them last season, was worth billions apparently. But couldn't scrape together the £50m to buy them. rolleyes.gif

When they get relegated last season they had a whole lot of backlash from their fans, and they wanted to sell. They're still there. The fact is that nobody wants them, they're the 3rd biggest club in "their" city, so why would anyone be interested? biggrin.gif

The 98' season was a true epic, winning the title on the last day of the season and beating Man U twice in the league.
Oh and winning the FA Cup.
Locke Lamora
And so Sunderland has beaten B'boro 2-0, both goals came from Chopra, and Downing missed a penalty.

Zola's first game in charge is going well so far..

West Ham 1-0 Newcastle. De Michelle deflected shot. The West Ham shirts look really ugly, since their kit sponsor - XL - went bust they've taken it off their shirts. Since they've not found a new sponsor yet, they've just got a white square with the players number on it, looks terrible. laugh.gif

EDIT: WHU 2-0 Newcastle. Di Michelle again.

They've missed so many chances. They've had about what? 30 corners in their favour? Massacre.

Anyway, like I've said dozen of times: it's not with the likes of Keanes, Arbeloas, Rieras or Kuyts that Liverpool will win the league.

Chelsea will win the league by March if Man Utd (I mean Ronaldo) don't start performing.

Bolton-Arsenal now. Been an entertaining start so far. Interesting stat: Arsenal have lost 4 of their last 5 visists to the Reebok Stadium. Their only win in this spell was last season when they came from 2 goals down to win 3-2.

Big D scores, beats Toure to the header.

Eboue, 1-1. Deserved goal, vey nice move. Though the replay shows he was offside.

EDIT: 2-1 Arsenal, Bendtner. So it should be 1-0, but because the linesman can't do his job Arsenal are noe winning. rolleyes.gif Good goal though.

Do you seriously think what Taylor did was bad? huh.gif Even Wenger admitted it wasn't taylors fault, just a fluke of nature. The Davies decision was explained at HT by the ref himself, he said he couldn't have sent him off since he got the ball, the yellow card was for following through on Clichy. Not cowardly, brave. It's about time somebody stands up to the big 4, unlike the linesman in the first half.

Davies breaking down the right, Song takes him out from behind, yellow card. Need I say more..

Good for him, he has as many goals as crappy over-rated players that can't even get into the England squad, Gabby and Owen.

Great assist? Now I know you're just doing it to get a rise out of people, quite frankly if he couldn't hit a ball accross an almost empty box into the path of Denilson he shouldn't be playing in the Championship, least not the EPL.

Huh? If Van Persie didn't play then there was a reason, maybe a minor injury or something, and why risk him when you can win the game as comfortably as we did?

The Eboue criticism, I can understand that, but why choose to attack him when he actually scores?

@Kurt, a lot of players would have tried to shoot there.

This has been said before but I don't think United's recent success can attributed solely to CR. I mean, he undoubtedly makes the difference but United are a squad with immense quality and they would not look and play so bad if they had actually learned how to play without him.
Still, they have not learned to do that so if the rest of them cannot leave United some points behind until CR returns (when is that?) then they cannot expect to win the title.
Milan Are Brilliant
Know it's not EPL related but it is English. Watford conceded a goal today in the Championship, the linesman thought was a goal but the ball went wide of the goal for a corner kick. I mean I've heard 'was the ball over the line?' etc but this is just ridiculous...

Can't find a video of it but through a mate who was at the game he said it was pretty clear the ball was wide even the Reading players weren't celebrating...

I mean I've never heard of it happen not in a game of this standard anyway, the highlights will be out tomorrow so will properly be able to analyse what happened then!

I think technology needs to come in now. This decision was.. awful. Then again, footaball is unique in this way, and it creates so many talking points. In the NBA< NHL< NFL, etc. you have video replay to determine things. But not in football, and this is what makes it so special, even for terrible decisions.

As for Arsenal resting player. The played in the Ukraine just a few days ago, players will be suffering from tiredness and jetlag, resting afew wasn't the worst idea, and it worked out well.
