Gigi Buffon now only needs to worry about Casillas for being numero uno goalkeeper in the world...

Sheva would enjoy this new system I think. Drogba is getting the kind of balls that Sheva would have loved. biggrin.gif

He's a very likable person in my opinion, he celebrates goals with passion, applauds the fans all the time and spends hours and hours before games signing autographs, I've really come to like him.

Happy with the Chelsea-United result in a way, good to see United not being the team to end their unbeaten home run. Which has lasted since Feb 2004. ohmy.gif

Just a few words from a Newcastle forum I read. It kinda potrays the fan view. I thought it was a great post...from nufc-forum, but the original was posted elsewhere. I quote the guy.. 'IT SUM'S UP WHAT I BELIEVE MOST NUFC FANS ARE FEELING. ABOUT LIES PRINTED AND SPOKEN ABOUT KK. '

QUOTE
Im sick of hearing people say that KK walks away from every clubs he is at - this is simply not true!

1) Newcastle United:

There were many reasons why he resigned - including board room politics. However although his timing was far from great - he did actually give us 5 VERY good years in which time he took us from the brink of extinction to the brink of greatness!

Lets not forget that the Premiership has only been won by 4 clubs and he oh so very nearly made that 5 - and he would have been the only English man to do so !!

2) Fulham

He left the club to become England Manager; and left it in better shape than when he took over!

NB: it is strange however to think that he actually started at Fulham as "Chief Operating Officer" (a similar role to a Director of Football) - before taking over as manager after Ray Wilkins was sacked !!

3) England:

He left the position in a way that only KK can - with honesty and emotion! In his famous farewell speech - he admitted that he was not good enough; but dont forget everyman needs his own people around him - even if just to feel secure. Yet the FA would not allow him to employ Arthur Cox as his assisant when he took over as England manager - because he was 60. Yet when Sven took over they allowed him to bring in Tord Grip who was 64 - and looks 120!!

4) Manchester City:

He took them up in his first season (after Joe Royal got them relegated) after scoring 108 goals. He finished 9th in his first season in the Premiership; and although he did not really repeat this success he did not run away from the club. He simply stated to the board that he would not be wishing to renew his contract at the end of the season - when it expired - as he was going to retire from football. As everyone knows this is a very difficult position for a club to be in ... when this information is released the constant speculation can very easily have a negative impact on the team.

However he agreed that he would stay on until they had arranged a successor - which he did!

5) Newcastle United - stabbed in back and had no choice but to leave!

OK - so people can and will say that he left Newcastle the first time round cos he wasnt good enough, and that he did a similar thing with England.

However IMO it is far better to be honest ; Id rather be like that than completely deluded like Steve "I can now speak Dutch" McClaren - convinced that he is the greatest manager in the World. Or even worse - those who sit there saying what ever they need to to get sacked so that they can take the payout !!

This is one of the most annoying thing about the comments that KK has received from the media; that he may have somehow tried to construct this whole thing in order to take the money; that is not what KK is about - never has and never will be !!

For me though the saddest thing about this whole affair is that after what he has given me (US!) I truly believed he deserved to have the chance to end his time gracefully. I think the timing of his first departure always had us looking over our shoulder and wondering .... "what if".

OK, so we may never have got back to the brink of greatness - in his final mangerial stint; but at least we would have had some fun; and we would have got to see some f***ing exciting football! And after his spell had ended we could have said farewell to KK and thanked him for all his efforts with the dignity and send off the man deserves and then looked forward to our new chapter !

SO Mike you got it wrong ; but most importantly you got US all wrong - cos we just want is to be entertained!

Yes, we all have big dreams for our club; but at the end of the day we dont ask for millions of pounds to be lavished on us every summer; we dont DEMAND to be a top 4 team; we dont DEMAND Eurpoean greatness; we dont even DEMAND silverware ( surely our full stadium after 50 barren years is proof of that! ) !

This is why Fat Boy will never be one of us - he decided to side with the lads who did well early on in the recruitment drive and then f***** it at the end; we now have no fit left back, no fit right back, no creative central midfielder, no left winger (as zogs is playing left back), no right winger, and 8 strikers!

WELL DONE LADS - you know best !!

Sad truth is though we may never have closure on the death of our relationship with King Kev - because some fat cockney couldnt control his staff !!

Oh yeah, I forgot that Big Ron didn't finish 2nd with Villa in the first EPL season. rolleyes.gif Even Gerrard Houllier finished 2nd for christ sake, every manager can have a one off good season. Keegan is probably the worst England manager of the modern era, his record was terrible. He didn't even win half of his games, and last as many as he won.. his record was worse than Steve McClarens, that says it all.

The main problem with Newcastle is that they think they're alot better than they really are. They hype up their favourites claiming they're God-like, when in reality, Keegan is just an average manager, they have an average team, then they just blame everything on their owner. First Sheppard, now Ashley. Considering Sheppard helped them finish highly in the league under numerous managers, I'd say he wasn't too bad.. the Newcastle fans didn't think so, though.

He didn't need Lampard and Ballack to play together. With just Lampard he won 2 straight titles, when Ballack joined, they've won none.. I agree with the Ashley Cole thing, he wasn't too great under Jose but the start of this season, I'd go as far as saying he's probably been the best player in the EPL so far, quite outstanding performances. I dunno about this, I know alot of people who liked Chelsea - like myself - and can't stand United. I didn't like Chelsea under Raniera too much, but as soon as Jose took over I couldn't help but like them alot.

Jose may not have won too many games convincingly, but at least he won them. Scolari's record in the EPL stands at 3 wins and 2 draws, decent but not overly impressive. Especially as I think only 1 team they've played is currently in the top half.

Sheff U want compensation from West Ham

Tevez scored the goal that kept West Ham in the Premier League, even though he shouldn't have even been playing. This resulted in Sheffield United getting relegated unfairly, and they want £30m in compensation. I think that sum is quite low considering the tv revenue and ticket sales they've lost out on. Hopefully they get more than that, it's only right.

Arsene eyes Ettore
Lazio starlet Ettore Mendicino is being targeted by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, according to reports. The teenage striker caught the eye of the Premiership leaders' Italian scout Tony Banfield after impressive displays for Lazio's Primavera side. Wenger has a reputation for bringing in youngsters and developing them into fine players and the 17-year-old could be the next one. Mendicino is seen as one of a promising generation of talents at Lazio. His qualities are his speed, his unselfish nature and his scoring rate - last season he hit 9 goals in 32 games.

Arsenals financial figures for the year ending May 2008 were shown on Sky Sports the other day, their net debt has increased by £40m over the last year, so the only thing I can think of as a reason for them getting all of these young players is because they are now a selling club. - As a neutral, and knowing many more neutrals, I would say Chelsea is definitely more likeable under Scolari than ever under Mou. Maybe the difference is that they're more humanized now. Same team for some time, no longer considered a bunch of mercenaries. But I definitely feel it's more likeable. If you're still not convinced, ask Inter. As much as Inter are hated, they've never been disliked as much as they are now. Mancini, never attacked other managers, no matter what the provocation.

- He improved Joe Cole?? Maybe...heck I'll even say yes. (Though I think Joe Cole is just SWP with some brains) He also made Drogba, the great Drogba. He destroyed Sheva, almost destroyed Ballack, ruined Cole's effectiveness, wasted a year of Sidwell's career...and so on. Porty I'm not saying he's cr@p..far from it. I'm just saying he isn't inviolate. Like you said, even the great Capello is having trouble.

- Porto remains to me, the one reason why I'll admit Jose has got some ability. Though I suppose FC Porto are the Juventus of the Portuguese League, so surely it wouldn't have been difficult to buy the best in class from most teams, except say Benfica and Sporting. As for the first two seasons, I could point you in the same direction with Ancelotti. The first CL we won, the season following it... wink.gif

You're right, he doesn't need to. I'm a football neutral. I hate it when my team play boring. But I accept it, because there are reasons. So imagine how I'd feel if a team invests millions in importing some of the most technical players in the world, so they can play longball to Drogba?? mad.gif Look at them play under Scolari, has any of the club targets from Jose's reign changed?? Nope. You think Scolari has been told, "Joga Bonito and f@ck the cups??" He's winning, but he's winning differently. In a way that demands admiration. Jose never gained admiration for his play (which kinda defeats the purpose of a football match). He converted the game of football into a race- Who finishes first! If it was Milan then I would probably think different but that does not mean that I would think the right way.

The Premier League does not allow 3rd party contracts. So every must be owned, by contract, to the club they are playing for - whether it be a loan contract from another club, or a full ownership.

Tevez was illegal because he was owned by a company, rather than a club, and the EPL does not allow this. I'm not sure why they allowed him to play - unless they didn't find out until late. SO Sheff U have a case. Unfortunately I don't think anything will come of it, as Mascherano was also illegaly playing in the EPL with West Ham, and he then moved to Liverpool when he shouldn't have even been there, and do you think Liverpool will get punished? Me neither.

I respect Arsenal for the way they go about transfers with the whole "Only spend how much you earn", but they're not going to win the league like this unfortunately. The board have said the money is there if Wenger wants it, but he doesn't want to spend it. Fabregas won't want another year without a trophy I don't think, not sure some other players will either.
