Soccer was just a slang name for it. I still fail to see why North Americans continued to use the name 'soccer' as if that was actually what it was called and then named another sport - in which you hardly ever use your feet - football. blink.gif

SKY is reporting that tomorrow Bronzetti will meet up with the top management at Barca to finalize the transfer of Zambrotta. It is expected that a deal will be struck by tomorrow. There are rumors that Etoo will also be discussed in that meeting.

Eto'o would be great for Milan, especially with Gilardino, actually I'd prefer him to R10, but R10 and Eto'o both in Milan sounds like a bad idea to me.

I prefer Zapata over Barzagli.

As some of you already said Zambrotta is probably that great defender fester mentioned. But I'm still hoping we sign Zapata + Canini.

P.S Brocchi sucks. Favalli,Bonera,Kaladze atleast contribute to the team.

Agreed, Barzagli hasn't been that impressive. Zapata is much younger, and better. Albeit more expensive.

I used to at one point believe me. I haven't been a milan fan as long as some of you have and that is perhaps my own fault because i live in canada and i am only 18. Before milan i wasn't a fan of any big soccer/football teams and the reason i chose milan is because of the way we played. The red and black jersey so perfect and the emblem made me feel that this was the club i willl support. SUre those are shallow reasons but i really had no idea what or who milan was until i did some research. What really caught my eye was they way we played and sheva. He was magnificient. Some called me a band wagon jumper because milan at the tiime was at the top of the world but even now while were not doing so well i'm still a supporter of milan because for me this club is enough.

Why do i like this club? Because at one point i believed that with a good squad filled with young players and veterans which we showed respect to we were able to challenge on all fronts. Who were our veterans? maldini billy, ruicosta, serginho, stam, cafu. These players all have one thing in common. They are class.

Players like brocchi, ba, favalli are average and eventhough i personally dont think they belong in serie A or milan others do. I get frustrated and angry when i remember the 3-4 years ago when i saw milan and every game i saw i litterly creamed my pants because the quality of play was so high. When i see brocchi replacing the likes of gattuso and pirlo when they are suspended/injuired etc, i just get mad and think there has to be someone to blame. Maybe its 3 poor transfer windows, maybe its something else who knows....

But i know what i want is for milan to start challenging on all fronts. I do like as much as you people dont think i do, i like the class and family unity to a certain point. However! If it gets in the way of results like it did this year i cannot accept this. We dont treat players like barca/madrid and other teams do which for me is fantastic but what i do wish is that we do at least have some shame and once in a while lower our arrogance and admit that you know what we may have 7 champions league titles but were in the uefa cup now so lets try and regain the respect of our fans correctly and start building a foundation for this club. Having players like brocchi is not going to help that at all.

sorry about my rant and sorry to tennie, morgoth and any others who i have insulted.

I'm just not happy with this season and don't think we should be as arrogant as we were in past years.

A season like this Blue, believe me, it is nothing. In the 90's Milan fell so hard, Uefa cup was a breath of fresh air. But what remains, the only distinct thing that remains is the philosophy and tradition of this club.

Nothing is continuous .. For whatever goes up, must come down. And vice-versa smile.gif

This is a proud club. Though this season is a low, in comparison with the previous six, it remains to be a special one for the one target which this team and club reached all together. Maybe now because of this season, you feel blue and down, but give it a couple of years, you will remember that Paolo took this club and won 6 CL trophies, etc .. And crowned this club as the #1 in the world.

Rui and Sheva, they were great players ... But at their time, they were. Next year you'll see new players coming in, and four years from now new players replacing the ones we have, and so on and so forth. But the only thing that remains, is Milan. For this club has brought many feelings for me and I am sure there are some that share this sentiment here and millions around the world, and it is no coincidence that I love this club let that be in bad times or good times. And no matter who plays, Broochi or Lentini, Milan is whom I support smile.gif

i'll tell you why, popularity. "soccer" is on the rise but presently is as watched as billiards laugh.gif .... sad.gif

so if most people dont care about the sport, rarely use the word they dont really care what it's called especially if they would have to change "American footballs" name (which would be sacrilegious).

imagine if one day someone decided to change football to "kick-and-head-ball" (which makes more sense)? obviously that wouldn't happen biggrin.gif

ya, also there has to be effort involved. if i'm going to apply the laws of physics to a ball, first i have to lift it then drop it.

were not going to get to our glory by sitting on our *** bragging about being number one in Europe (according to UEFA rolleyes.gif).

man u isnt at it's best right now because 3-4 years ago they sat around doing shite all. they signed lots of young players of the years and never hesitated to give the boot to certain key players even in their prime! and it's worked out well for them... unfortunately...

zapata would be great, i don't know what are we waiting...barca and real has signed best young defenders in la liga (garay & pique (before manU))...so there's not a lot leftouts, and considering we all want defender from serie a, zapata is the man...barzagli wasn't so good this season, at least not something worth mention (but he should be considerd)...and i think some of milanfan users may preffer him of his football manager 08 characteristics...we'll see how he play on euro

i would love to see giving him another chance, and if then he failed we could sell him...he's obviously rated highly in la liga

If we let Gila go, i certainly dont want to see Olivera. The only player we should take a risk on is Borriello, mainly because he is a former youth product. I am not entirely sure Olivera will cope with Serie A's tough defences (in comparison with pansy spanish defences) Borriello we know can perform in Serie A, however can he cope with a big club is the bigger question

laugh.gif Actually I wanted to say that some time ago, but I was afraid of being labelled as ... something that I wouldn't like. I've only seen Zapata against Milan and in coth legs he was nothing special at all (Pato made him look like an amateur several times at the Friulli) anyway let' just wait and see ...

Transfers rumours this morning are involving Eto'o who supposedly said "I'll play for the merda", Drogba and his 9M€/year salary and Oddo (whom we bought 17M€) who's linked with ... Barcelona laugh.gif There's also a Marquez/Dossena to Milan story and Deco to Bayern ... but what's most probably sure is that Nasri will be an Arsenal player next season (15M€) and could sign today.
Tennie
Er. I'm pretty sure we only paid 10 for Oddo, but yeah. He's being linked with the Barca negotiations.

EDIT: And the Viola director is in Milan today for negotiations, presumably regarding Gilardino.
morgoth
We paid 10M for Oddo plus 50% of Foggia's right witch is at least 5M€ considering his last season ...
Tennie
Hrm. Good point, Morgoth. I forgot about the Foggia part of things.

That said, I'm not entirely sure Milan will let Oddo go. Yeah, he's had a HORRIBLE season, but he's a former Primavera player and Serie A is instituting that rule about having to have a certain number of former Primavera players in the first team.

If they are smart they shoul pay that. He's much better than pazzini and I have no doubt that he will go back to his old self if he goes there.

Maybe we should keep him because Fiorentina are getting dangerous. Barzagli, vargas,Gila,Melo,Jovetic if they get these players they might be title contenders.

Well, Serie A could become stronger only by inporting players from Spain, Germany, Fance or England. That's the key factor.

He is an 18 years old striker who plays for Partizan. He has already signed for Fiorentina. Apparently R.Madrid,Juventus,Man utd wanted him but somehow they got to him first.
