No, but we (are about to) sign a Senderos. Lack of pace isn't the guy's issue. It's that he's got dreadful positioning and, honestly, just isn't all that good. If he puts the jersey on I'll support him, but honestly? It's embarrassing to me to see him at the club. Milan has a tradition of having great defenders - the Invincibles of the Sacchi and Capello era, for example - and in no way, shape or form does Senderos come anywhere near Tassotti, Costacurta, Baresi, or Maldini in terms of skill, talent, or class.
Of course he's no where near those greats, but consider the role he's going to be given. he is behind Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze, Bonera. he
may be good ebough for Milan's 4th/5th choice defender. maybe even better, maybe even worse. we still don't exactly know how will he do in Serie A. English league is a bit faster and he's kinda a slow (but stronge) defender. his physique definitely suits Serie A better. his intelligence though
may not...

Assuming he passes the physical and stuff, then Senderos will be a Milan player. As such I'll support him when he wears the jersey and hope my dire predictions are inaccurate. (Fishdoll would prefer Darmian to be the #4 centerback, for what it's worth. He likes the kid).

I don't think so. Parma is/was a good club. And there he'll get the start most of the times. In a SerieA club, he might not have gotten a gauranteed firstXI start.
I know they've introduced some great strikers before, it's the league they're gonna play in that bothers me...

We all like to see homegrown defenders step in, but with Carlo in charge that's almost an impossibility. I can't see Darmian get playing time other than in some Coppa matches...

Apparently both Genoa teams were, Jack. Not sure why Parma but the news popped up late last night and was confirmed today. They must've made a better offer -- or maybe young Alberto just REALLY likes parmesan cheese on his pasta.

Some interesting comments this morning. Nemanja Vidic said that he is unhappy in England, he hates the weather, etc. He likes playing for Man U, but can't settle in this country. He also said he'd like to play in another top league (He only mentioned Spain though), so hopefully people at Milan took note of this. Even if he is a United player, I wouldn't mind us signing him next summer as a top CB.

To be honest, he did play his part in ruining the career of players such as Gorcuff. Remember when all our creative options were injured, and Carlo fielded him along with Ambro and Gattuso. My eyes were bleeding seeing that lineup. Of course, we lost that match. It's good to see him going to someplace where he'll get a chance to play.

I think it was about time Brocchi and Milan parted ways - for the benefit of everyone involved.

Gourcuff?? *sigh* I'm sick of hearing about Brocchi vs Gourcuff. Just coz the resume says Gourcuff- creative player, he's automatically assumed to be better than Emerson or Brocchi or sometimes even Rino and Ambro.
Brocchi did what he was supposed to do 80% of the time. Can't say the same for Yoann, who was too inconsistent. At least with Brocchi what you saw was what you got.(which seemed to impress everyone when he was in Fiorentina).

Aug 27 2008, 02:19 PM
I would not mind Brocchi staying. With Flamini and all the other guys we've brought in he would rarely (if at all) feature anyway and he counts as a player brought up from our youth system... then again he thinks he's great so he would ***** about it if he did not play...

It's not about Gourcuff being better or worse... it's about Carlo's stupidity. I know you will defend even this but constantly bringing on Brocchi when we needed to score is idiotic, period. Brocchi is not at all productive, he's a central MF that can only play as an AMF in mid-table teams... and it's not his fault that no one likes him, it's Ancelotti's cause he constantly fielded him on the right asking him to push forward... something he obviously is incapable of doing...
I'm not saying Gourcuff would have done any better but he would certainly not have done worse and he would be getting play time...

This really would be a nightmare to me. You guys obviously don't know they guy enough. He lacks of any Milan mentality or attitude. I don't care how his tackling is accurate or his postitioning good, he's just not technically equipped to be on board the rossoneri ship.

I think Oddo has been dreadfully bad recently and it may be for the better we sell him. But I hope we get something in return.
Brocchi on the other hand... I'll be very happy if he is sold completely. We have enough midfielders, and I never want to see him played over any of our other midfielders... ever again.

Oddo was really great from January 2007 to 23 May 2007. but since then imo his performances have been unacceptable most of times. if Grosso can do an Azzurri in Milan, by all means. Zambro can move to the right and Grosso can play in the left. an all Italian full back.
But it needs to be mentioned Janku was in amazing form in the pre-season games. if he avoids injuries he's guaranteed starting spot in most games.

I don't think Grosso is our target from Lyon by any stretch of imagination.

Okay, maybe at third place, but I'd like to believe if we wanted Grosso, we'd have gotten him by now. His club form is usually very shaky. Besides who wouldn't want to play in his home league, I'm sure Grosso does, but not many Italian clubs are interested in him.
It comes down to Benzama, Lloris and then Grosso.
