I saw an Inert and Siena player exchange jerseys at halftime. That doesn't make sense; aren't you going to need them for the second half?

Usually players wear a new shirt for the second half
acid911
I ask only for an inter defeat today, from Santa. biggrin.gif I know you'll listen, Mr. Santa Claus!

Jose's winning mentality is sure rubbing off onto his players. This team just never seems to be down and out.

Moratti's cheating mentality, perhaps. About three Inert players were offside when the goal was scored.

FIVE players were offside ffs !!!!!!! i was watching it in English on Jazeera after the goal i found it really amusing when the commentator started talking about the Calciopoli and about buying refs , i feel so bad for siena tho robbed of a point dry.gif

I'd need to see the highlights to check if the goal was onside or not.

Actually that's not the worrying bit. innocent.gif The worrying bit is that inter got away with two extra.

Well, I consider my eyesight to be decent, but I can't quite see as far as Italy to judge an offside decision.

So, some results around the neighborhood for round 17. sleepysmiley03.gif

1-3 Atalanta-Juventus
1-1 Cagliari-Reggina
3-2 Catania-Roma
0-1 Chievo-Genoa
1-0 Lazio-Palermo
0-0 Lecce-Bologna
5-1 Milan-Udinese
0-1 Sampdoria-Fiorentina
1-2 Siena-inter
1-0 Torino-Napoli

My God, what happened to Roma, and good to see Napoli slip to fifth (sorry zd, can't help it). Damn, that 5-1 looks sweet. Also Fiorentina winning. And that dreaded inter sneaking in with two points. realmad.gif Fiddlesticks. Overall, a half decent week for a guy like me, even in EPL with Arsenal drawing with Liverpool. Now I want Chelsea to win, and that'll round off a good round (pun always intended).

No no, ...no Del Piero stalking for me to round off this year, just been catching up with some friends from abroad so I haven't been active on the forums lately, just the quick check up here and there and then I'm off on my way.
But have no fear I haven't abandoned MF. I'll hopefully be back on more regularly in the new year, if not sooner.

Brief injury updates for other Serie A teams:

The Gobbi have everyone back in training but Zebina. Buffon and Trezeguet are set to play in a friendly tomorrow (I think it's with Monaco).

Roma have a bunch of injuries: Totti is definitely out for a while and Baptista, Pizarro, Aquilani, Menez, and Taddei are all doubts with various knocks, etc. Pizarro is apparently the worst of the second group and may require surgery.
Tennie
Juve played Monaco today in an exhibition. Like the Milan game, it was 1-1 after 90 minutes and like the Milan game, it went to penalties. However, De Ceglie missed his and Monaco won.

Buffon played the first 45 mins.

You can say that again! If we can win against inter (the 2nd derby of the season), then the difference will be reduced to six points, and things will get real tough, with Juve being even more direct competitors. But if we drop any more stupid points, even a couple, then I'll leave out all hopes.

And ah, the old smilies are back (I know I said this before), but I love them. Also Mike probably changed the old wink emoticon into a better one. That one looked more like a wince. Hehe. I'm so happy, I want to put in and try out each one of them. With due apologies:

Here's some actual news: there's talk that the Genoa-Toro game may be postponed on Saturday. Genoa got hit with snow too. The pitch is okay but getting into and out of the stadium may be a real problem.

Actually, this one isn't calciopoli per se (about match fixing and referees). THis one is about the GEA process - agents fixing transfers and threatening and stuff. His son also got jail time; Lippi's son didn't.

Lovely picture - thanks for posting!

btw, odds just got better for Toro doing decently Saturday. Gabriel Milito has been ruled out for 3 weeks due to abdominal issues (hernia? not sure just what it is).

The cugini's Stankovic is also a strong doubt after picking up a knock in training.

Buffon won't play for the Gobbi - still not match fit.

Goal.com (or an equally dubious site) was reporting that Amauri is having passport problems, so he may not get an Italian passport. I hope this is the case, Brazil call him up once, then never again. It would be a perfect ending for someone like Amauri
Tennie
They probably picked it up from Mediaset, which is running an article about it.

Its probably has some sort of credibility if Mediaset are running a story on it.

I think he is a good player too, but his blatant disrespect and attitude regarding the NT is unforgiveable. Italy is not a consolation prize, which is why i respect players like Osvaldo and Dellafiore more

Exactly. I think he's somehow 'using' Italy to get to the Brazil NT...

He's a good player. But his behavior re: national teams is...tacky. Very tacky. Fins down from Fishdoll on this one.

Weather update: the Friday Serie B game between Sassuolo and Brescia has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. They'll try again tomorrow. Sassulo play on Modena's pitch because their own is too small. Modena is in north-central Italy (between Florence and Milan). We may see a game or two postponed and/or cancelled tomorrow and Sunday.

The Lega Calcio in its wisdom has scheduled a lot of late Saturday and Sunday Serie A games in northern cities (Turin, Milan, Udine, Bergamo). Oy.
Rossoneri7
Tennie, isn't the San Siro pitch equipt with heating equiptment ?
Tennie
I haven't the foggiest whether the San Siro (or Turin's Olimpico) or any other pitch in Italy has the heating equipment. Tech guys? Any of you know?
Tennie
For what it's worth, the Lega Calcio has officially green-lighted the early Saturday game between Genoa and Toro.

Aquilani set to extend
Friday 9 January, 2009

Roma midfield star Alberto Aquilani is close to agreeing a four-year contract extension with the club.

There have been doubts over the Azzurri ace's future as he has stalled over putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Reports emerged that Juventus were tracking Aquilani and plotting a mega bid, but now it seems he is staying put.

“We are very close to a renewal,” Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia told Laroma24.it.

“I think the contract will be sealed around February and it will be a four-year deal.

“There are still some small details to discuss, but we are confident of a successful resolution.”

Aquilani is in doubt for this weekend's game against Milan due to a back problem.

::channel4::

I never believed we'd sign him but if he signs a new contract I'll give up hoping.
