Well, I think Eddy Reja is a medicore coach at best and the team (Napoli) lacks of an experienced stratege who would know how to pull one more ahead rather then loose speed.

Naploi's problem is not that. It's their over-ambitious attitude and their premature involvement in the UEFA cup and now as Capello predicted, they're in trouble.
Rossoneri7
A team that has no experience in balancing the league with the UEFA will face problems, some psychological and some physical ... I love Napoli, I love the fact that they are in Serie A and have produced very good results ever since they came back, but not every team can hold its breath for the whole stretch and that is what separates the boys from the men.

I think this team is gaining much needed experience by their current situation and come next season, they would be even stronger - I hope

Gasperini has done a lot of good things for them .. They have a rich history, but just like Napoli, that counts for little in terms of team experience etc ... Nevertheless, it is good that this team is in Serie A and has strung together good results over the past two seasons.

Then again, can they -both teams - hold their breath for the remainder of the season and reach a CL spot ? That is something that will unfold in the coming months ... But I doubt it, as they don't have the capacity to mount such a challenge, just yet.

It's nice that they are contending, but I don't believe they have the experience nor the mental grit to push it all the way.

Boy, every time I read the word Lecce, it reminds me of that Emerson classy moment before the end of the match that gave them the free kick goal. dry.gif We had trouble unlocking Lecce, when we were scraping for the draw (that never came). 1-2 for us, while teams like Cagliari, and every Tom, Dich, and Harry can beat them comfortably. Those three points, and then the first two games this season, and more, and we'd probably be leading inter by 5 points.

As for today, good results till now. Juve dropping points was good, that for me was the most crucial game after ours (sorry, ZD). And well Fiorentina, that's why I always prefer them to Genoas and Napolis - they have it in them, after all these years in the top. I want them to finish 4th at least. Ah yes, Roma. I rather liked them, still do. But it was actually my younger brother's favorite team behind Milan (psst, don't tell anybody, but he suffers from Totti-fever), I just like Roma's game and style. smile.gif But Fiorentina really earned my respect after they gave us a run for the 4th place last season. And then they earned it. Deservingly, so I might add. And well, Genoa, I think they have a proud history (like you seem to rate Napoli, but Napoli just had a windy couple of seasons after they signed Maradona, nothing much before, nothing much after, at least not compared to that glorious few years). Genoa are one short of a star (10 Scudettos), and the least I hope is that they get one more league title in my lifetime, and don't get stuck on 9 for far too long.

As things stand, I want to give Napoli more time in the fire, before they make it big. Like you said, Genoa and Fiorentina for the UEFA Cup, and Roma for the CL. Though I won't mind Fiorentina swapping places with Roma. wink.gif Roma in the Europa League (the renamed UEFA Cup) will finally give them a chance to win something. But based on their showings this season up till now, Fiorentina deserves the 4th.
Tennie
So the Genoa ultras weren't happy with today's result. They blamed the ref and the viola players, etc etc etc.

They tried to block the Fiorentina team bus from leaving the stadium, it seems.

They also tried to attack the wife of Fiorentina player Bonazzoli - and were prevented from doing so by Aida Yespica, the girlfriend of Genoa player Matteo Ferrari.

Not nice behavior at all. mad.gif

These "Ultra's" seem rather pathetic. Going to the police over stolen flags and trying to attack women. They must feel so big.

Fiorentina bus hits Genoa fan
Sunday 15 February, 2009

A Genoa fan is in a serious condition after he was run over by the Fiorentina team bus outside Marassi.

The tension was sky high after this afternoon's 3-3 draw, with Adrian Mutu scoring with the last kick of the game.

Angry Rossoblu supporters gathered outside the stadium and threw objects at the Fiorentina team bus when it drove out from the car park, including bottles and rocks.

It is believed the bus driver was trying to find a way out as quickly as possible in these chaotic circumstances.

The reports suggest the driver did not even know he had struck the 37-year-old Genoa fan, named Gabriele Amato, as he fell under the back wheels of the bus.

With the tension in this situation, a police escort accompanied the Fiorentina bus.

President Enrico Preziosi and some club directors had held talks with the fans before the incident to calm them down and urge them to leave the stadium, but a small group remained behind.

Genoa: Ref wants us out!
Sunday 15 February, 2009

Genoa are furious after their dramatic 3-3 draw with Fiorentina. “It was 10 against 12, maybe someone wants to bring Genoa down to earth…”

The Rossoblu were leading 3-0 despite seeing Giuseppe Biava sent off after 29 minutes, but Adrian Mutu made it 3-3 with literally the last kick of the game.

“It would be better if we weren’t playing 10 against 12, as the referee was clearly on the other side,” blasted President Enrico Preziosi.

“I did not like his attitude, such as letting some fouls go by and booking others. I hope [refereeing designator Pierluigi] Collina evaluates the situation carefully…

“Last week we lost to Roma because they scored three wonderful goals. Today let’s just say the referees were not relaxed.

“Perhaps someone wants to bring Genoa back down to earth. You can hardly call us fortunate.”

The Grifone are still in fifth place, just one point behind Fiorentina in the fight for a Champions League position.

The heart-breaking way in which the last goal was scored prompted a furious reaction from fans and players at Marassi.

“I am really irritated that the media is saying we ‘attacked’ the referee, when nobody aimed a kick or a punch,” slammed Preziosi.

“Do they teach you people what ‘attack’ actually means? I don’t want to play the victim, but for some time now we are treated as if we’re the thugs of Italy. The fans aren’t accustomed to causing trouble either, but I’ll go now and tell them to calm down.”

Large groups of ultras gathered around the Press box after the game to protest.

The officiating was spot-on and there was even a handball by a Genoa player inside the penalty area before Fiorentina's equalizer not given.

See here.

I don't rate these goals, anyone can score them. Abate is good but it's not necessary that he comes back in my view. We don't have a problem in midfield and there's also Gourcuff who might come so there's no space. In any case, it's the defense that needs fixing. We need another great CB and a great LB!

Moratti: We thrashed them!
Monday 16 February, 2009

Inter chief Massimo Moratti claims the Nerazzurri's derby win was comfortable and could've been more emphatic. “It should've been 7-0!”

The leaders extended their advantage at the summit of Serie A with a crucial 2-1 win over their city rivals Milan.

There was controversy over Adriano's goal, which put Inter ahead, as he seemed to use his hand when finding the net.

“I'm not sure about Adriano's goal,” Moratti admitted to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“ There could have been a handball, but we played with such determination that I think we would have triumphed anyway.

“In the past the derby ended 4-3, but I think yesterday's game should have been 7-0 to us.

“We should have won by more, but the most important thing was that we got the result and did so by showing strength and determination.

“The decision to field Adriano was a gamble for us all. I think Jose Mourinho has done everything needed to bring him back to his best and I'm happy about that,” he concluded.

It's good to see that a certain 6-0 tennis set win still hurts... cool.gif Inter deserved to win last night but not with that scoreline and we could have equalized in the end so shut up and take it as it is!

Not but seriously, I don't think there is a place for him in the mid-field. Especially if we keep Becks. Let him play a season more at Torino.
whoarethepatriots
Adriano has avoided a ban for using his hand to score against us.

This verdict is absolute bullshit. Why ban Gila for using his hand then? oh i forgot, he plays for Fiorentina. The courts cant penalise Inter now can they.

The system is utter trash. Either be consistent in banning people, or dont ban them in the first place
Zed.D
Is there a clip of that Gila handball?
Jack Sparrow
Well I think the loophole was that it was involuntary, and that the ref saw it, and decided it was involuntary. Hence he didn't blow the whistle. If the ref saw it, then Adriano can't be punished. If the ref didn't...I believe he can.
dst
It was involuntary, Gila did in on purpose. Still it was a goal that should have been disallowed.
