I thought it was just a rumor! why are so many good players ending up at Inter? sad.gif
Tennie
Well, the Argies do generally end up there more frequently than at Milan.

Supposedly, Genoa has in tern bought Floccari to replace Milito.
Darunia
Milito and Motta, two good signings. Floccari has joined Genoa to replace Milito (confirmed by the prez)

Mou and Drogba seek reunion
Jose Mourinho and Didier Drogba confirm their intention to work together again at Inter after forming a remarkable bond at Chelsea.

*sticks finger down throat*

Well, they're two obnoxious loudmouths who think the world revolves around them, and if you put their egos in an empty room, nobody else could enter. Therefore, I can understand why they love each other so much.

Switching gears, do you think Crespo was a good pickup for Genoa?
Zed.D
I hope Drogba doesn't join Inter, they're already strong enough to easily win the Scudetto again. dry.gif

I think so. Crespo, Floccari and Acquafresca should do the trick.

I think the Genoa president did the right things. his decisions are made with the head not the heart.

now we should come out and announce mexes and adebayor. That would rattle morratti forsure smile.gif

Enrico Preziosi annuncia l'arrivo dei due interisti

Wow, what is Preziosi doing? ohmy.gif if they take Adquafresca as well then he's officially robbed Inter!

Crespo still has it in him if given enough chances while Quaresma seems to do much better for smaller sides. Acquafresca on the other hand is a very good young striker but he's not Genoa's yet...

I thought after losing Milito and Motta it was all over for them, but now I think they have a good chance to finish top 6 again next season.

FORZA GENOA!

I just overheard something on SSN about Juve wanting Diego to replace Nedved, not sure if it was a paper report they got it fromt or something said by somebody at Juventus, wasn't really paying attention.

Trapattoni, Lippi, Cuper - all of them CL-expert coaches, and all of them failed. Mourinho will be no different. There's just nothing you can do with Inter in the CL.

About Genoa. I'm sceptic. Queresma is crap to me and he'll never work in Italy. I'm sure the signings are very good by names, but I don't know exactly why, I'm still sceptic...

Eleftheropoulos leaves Siena
Wednesday 27 May, 2009
Greek international goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos has rescinded his contract with Siena by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old arrived in the peninsula with Messina back in 2004 before joining Milan in 2005.

After a season warming the bench at Roma, Eleftheropoulos played 14 games for Ascoli and then joined Siena.

However, the ex-Olympiacos man played only a peripheral role at the Montepaschi Arena and is now packing his bags.

Eleftheropoulos has cited “family reasons” for his decision, which has been supported by the club.

The shot-stopper's next move is in doubt, but he is expected to leave Italy.

Great, I can just picture Galliani saying, "Let's bring him back NOW!"

Calcio Debate: Will The Retirement Of Maldini, Nedved & Figo Further Damage Serie A's Image?A trio of high-profile names from Serie A’s top three clubs will be hanging up their boots at the end of May. Adam Scime considers the implications for the image of Italian football...
22 May 2009 11:00:30

Italy’s three top clubs will be losing a veteran each due to retirement this summer. Paolo Maldini, who earned legendary status playing his entire career with Milan, will end his playing days along with Inter’s Luis Figo and Juventus’ Pavel Nedved.

The trio may not have the influence they once did on a match-to-match basis, but nonetheless they are top class players that Serie A will no longer boast in their ranks.

Maldini has been a stalwart in the centre of defence for the Rossoneri this season, making 28 appearances. Nedved was perhaps the best midfielder in the Bianconeri’s weakest area in 2008-09. Meanwhile, Figo was able to add a bit of creativity to an otherwise methodical Inter side.

Their inspiration on the pitch was a pleasure to see, but their star-quality ensures that they cannot be so easily replaced as Serie A continues to lose ‘big names.’ The Italian, Czech, and Portuguese player were known around the globe.

Without them, a sizeable percentage of Italian football’s most noteworthy players are reduced. Milan can still boast Kaka and David Beckham. Juventus have Gianluigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero. Inter are personified by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Roma through Francesco Totti, but otherwise you’d be hard pressed to find world-renowned footballers.

Not so long ago, there was something called the ‘seven sisters’ of Italian football, they were the top seven teams in the peninsula, when even Fiorentina had Gabriel Batistuta and Parma featured Lilian Thuram. World Cup legends Ronaldo and Roberto Baggio could be seen week after week and a French wizard named Zinedine Zidane wore black and white. Not to mention the likes of Christian Vieri, George Weah, Edgar Davids, Juan Sebastian Veron, and Oliver Bierhoff, who all plied their trade in Italy’s top division.

Whether this will happen again down the line is anyone’s guess, but at present Serie A will be missing some significant star power due to the exits of Maldini, Nedved, and Figo.

Even if the Scudetto races never saw the best of the Portuguese Euro 2000 star, the letters on the back of his shirt spelled out a household name, along with the other two aforementioned veterans. There are some talents on their way up such as Alexandre Pato and Mario Balotelli who could eventually fill the void, but that is not for certain and not immediate either.

European results over the past few years have seen the Italian teams stutter to a greater extent as the more prominent names flock to England and Spain. If Serie A squads want to get back on the map, they need the supporters to be back on their side, and while too many star names is rarely a good strategy in terms of tactics, having too few rarely suffices either from a public standpoint or from a marketing one.

Napoli won 3-0 ohmy.gif ohmy.gif this was what, they're 2nd win since Don took over..

Torino relegated... *sad* I would have preferred it to be Bologna but perhaps they deserved to survive.
MizNelson
Most entertaining game had to be Udinese's 6-2 thrashing of Cagliari. Marchetti didn't play; some guy named Lupatelli was in his place.

Our CL hopes might've been screwed even further had Udinese not endured their own late-season slump. They're coming into their own and are capable of fighting for the top four next season if they don't lose any of their key players.
Fillipo Simone
Quagliarella could be leaving for Napoli, so there's one. I doubt they will preserve their squad intact. Lupatelli? The ex-Roma Lupatelli?
Darunia
It's possible Ibra might leave, he's hinted he wants a new adventure and he doesn't seem to get along with Balotelli (but who does?), plus they have Milito now. Mourinho loves Ibra though, so he will probably stay.
Fillipo Simone
Naah, he'll stay or leave for Barca. Does not look like a Milanjob anyway. We'll sign Roberto Arjauo or Rodrigo Neves or Mauricio Renatinho...

I don't care that much about bringing more Brazilians in as long as they are the best choice in what we are looking for.

Was I ever pleading for Billy to become Milan coach? C'mmon you do know me better then that! Here I am posting month after month possible solutions, always ending with the same sentence - not many good coaches are avaible and suitable, but yet again you imply I'd take Billy over Leo.

While in fact I would take Costacurta over Leonardo, but I wouldn't be satisfied either. You see, Billy has a coach license and he was a top-class defender. Two points that make him a bit above Leonardo.

Who's to say they are not? I don't evaluate the choices... but for the money we spent on Thiago he could very well be the best choice. I won't judge him before I see him play.
