Nice! I liked him as a person but his play just wasn't up to the needed standard. Always nice to get any amount of money when shedding dead weight that isn't a part of future plans.

Fair dues, you got a team?

As for this mercato, today's developments have really undermined us. We might have finished roughly level with Inter but they've signed Kondogbia and now Miranda. We've managed Bertolucci. They've signed the quality of player we need.

I am pleased with the rubbish we're getting rid of, but we're just not able to attract guys like Miranda here. Inter are. I stand by my previous thoughts on this, that we can't get the best players - but Inter are still getting a higher calibre than us. And Miranda only cost them 15M. No spring chicken but an excellent defender. I still don't know who the hell Adbennour is, not that he's coming anyway.

I'm not ready to say that we can't attract players of that calibre. We'll see what happens over the next month. As for Inter, I think it's very clear that Mancini is the reason they are getting these players. I don't like Inter but I respect Mancini and he's putting together a compelling project. In the end I think it's a good thing for Italy having Inter capable of challenging for CL spots. Serie A is better when Milan's teams thrive. Now we just need to have a great summer and spoil their party next season devil.gif
han2503
Mauri deal also complete according to most sources, he and his agent were in a meeting today with Galliani, tomorrow he'll most likely do the medicals and sign his contract for 4 years.

Also, Gabriel has renewed his contract until 2019, he'll be sent back on loan for another year at Carpi

I read that he had the best clean sheet record in Serie B last season and Napoli have been after him this summer

Oh and we've apparently stopped pursuing Baselli, Fiorentina are close to signing him.

--------

Really like how much movement's been made these past 2 days or so, even if we haven't made any big signings, I think so far it's all been steps in the right direction which renews my hope a bit

Yep, I had hoped that we'd make a bit more for him, we paid 4m just last summer

We seriously have the worst negotiators around. If he were at Roma he'd go for at least 10 to 12m

I think it's a fair price. We signed him for €4 million, after all.

Really glad we've gotten rid of Bonera, Muntari and Pazzini. Each one of them pissed me off every time they played. Yes, even Pazzini. Egotistical and completely useless.

Not completely useless, though. sleep.gif Egotistical and past his prime, yes. But agreed, so very pleased to see all three leave. We should always give chances to home grown young players as fillers, not these has beens and particularly those with limited talents in the first place.

Hmh, maybe Nocerino could stay. Especially if Ibra joins us.

Hear, hear. smile.gif Not a bad rotation players to have provided we can make an affordable arrangement with him. Gives it his all, puts his head down and plays the game as required. Ibra, I feel, will joins us in late August. For all we know, B&G may be saving him as a final showpiece signing towards the end of the window.

I'd keep Nocerino even if we don't sign Ibra, though. Just give him a low contract, and rotate him as needed.

That was his value, yes, currently in the market. wink.gif Peanuts? Well, they all can't be cashews, now, can they? I'm just glad we parted ways with him, he never was a player that I felt was at the required level to play for us. Thank you for your time here, bub, can't say I enjoyed it too much.

Well, true. Let's not forget that we're coming from a pretty bad season so all of our players are expected to be undervalued. Rami had a much higher market value in his times with Valencia, shows you how fast things can change.

True again, but even the EPL teams valued him at £3 million just. huh.gif I'm just glad he's off the list, really, as are almost all the other players. Their time had come to an end, they had a good ride.

I think he and Mexes formed a decent pairing, but yeah, not really bothered that we parted ways with him.

Aye, that's the big factor. innocent.gif There are certain players that fit a team and their playing style. They are best suited for that particular environment. Change that, and they end up being less than half the players. Rami in his time at Valencia was one such guy. Cavani in Napoli was another.

True champions, though, they can adjust anywhere. Case in point, Borriello and Huntelaar.

For a time yes, for a stretch of matches. unsure.gif But as I decried at the start of the season, and Danny too, Inzaghi just made far too many changes and experiment (all through the year, sadly) that no one settled in the team. Least of all the defense. He and Mexes were one of the few bright points, decent enough.

But if it came to the two of them, I'd keep the Mexes, and say goodbye to Rami without hesitation.

They did that under Seedorf though.

As you said, Pippo messed up big time with his constant rotation of players, maybe had he picked his best 2 and stuck with them throughout the season we'd have faired better and our players wouldn't be priced at the same level as Serie B players.

Yeah, two more I want out. sad.gif Sure the management will float both of these guys. I'd hand them over to any Serie A team, if it came to it. Both are mediocre, and both are unneeded in this new direction we're heading. In a perfect world, we'd never have signed these guys in the first place, but quite happy Galliani is changing things around.

Inzaghi never stopped, man. sad.gif Every week a new team. I was okay with this shuffle for the first few rounds, but he just kept on going and going. Never allowed anyone to settle. But that's what you get when you sign up a coach and ask him to learn on the job. I have my doubts with Miha and will give him only a month or two before judgment.

But I'm fairly certain he'll not make rookie mistakes like this. He should not. Kills team chemistry.

Yep, Essien went to a Greek side, his contract was finished

Muntari's contract was terminated by "mutual consent" according to the club

Pazzini and Bonera also came to the end of their contracts and will not be renewed

Van Ginkel and Bocchetti will return to their respective clubs because their loan deals are also finished

Agreed about that on Miha

Pippo was just a total disaster, I really can't see him coaching successfully at any pro team tbh

Agreed about that on Miha

Thing with Miha is his age. sleep.gif And prior experience. Even though I'd have gone with some other coach, now that he is here, the guy has my support. But what will absolutely be intolerable is if he starts making mistakes (that our last three or four coaches have made) on a continual basis.

Beginner mistakes, when he is not a beginner. That would just be so bad on so many levels, particularly now that he has seen the wrongs that some of our inexperienced coaches have made over the past few seasons. He is due to be presented official on July 3 in a conference at Milan, be interested to hear what he says.

Coaching is not for everyone, my friend. dry.gif Surely not for forwards and particularly poachers. I've seen so many attacking players fail (or deliver unspectacular results) when they transitioned to coaching. Some make it, yes, but this is a trade best left to the midfielders who have a better understanding of the game.

In that aspect, Seedorf had it, and one could see that he was going somewhere. Not Inzaghi or Leo, though.
Danny
Rami was a diabolically poor defender for us. Waste of money, and that we (more or less) broke even in selling him delights me.

It didn't matter who his partner was, he was always shaky, weak, had ghastly positional sense and was mild in the air.

His strengths were composure on the ball and pace down the flank. And aerial prowess in the opposition box.

What kind of player does that make him?! Not a central defender anyway. Overjoyed he's gone.

Not sure I'd do that. Carlo only managed 2 wins in the first 6 fixtures when he originally took over. 2 losses. Two draws.

Took him two seasons before he even won the bloody league!

And he had a far better squad than this that considered fourth a disaster.

If you don't want Sini, don't hide behind pretence that you're 'giving him a chance'.

Personally I give him the full season. See how it goes. A top 5 finish would be excellent, and, as you say, a lack of idiotic rookie errors and the disgusting and unecessary rotation which Pippo had an OCD for.
acid911
Aptly described, Danny. smile.gif He had a few things going for him, but a package he was not. Otherwise, other big clubs might have already snapped him up long before he came here. Sad story here is that Milan, known for its defense all across the continent, for decades, made mistakes like this in the first place.

Our defense was one of the biggest reasons for where we ended up with. Even Serie B teams know how to organize things at the back, have some stability and chemistry with the goalkeepers and the defensive mids.

Nah, my point revolved around his tactics and man management. unsure.gif Not results. Forget two months, even half a season is really cutting it for weighing up a new coach. At this point, I don't even care about the results. We could end up with the title, provided we sign the right players, put up a challenge, or end up fifth. Don't care.

What I do want is to see someone that makes as few mistakes as possible at the top, rookie errors that one doesn't associate with experienced coaches. If I see that the first couple of months, we're good. Experimentation is necessary, as is building team chemistry.

But if Miha is again one of those guys that learns on the job and gets paid to do so, then that won't cut it.

Danny
What we don't know at this point is exactly what kind of attack Sini is looking at building. We heard whispers the formation would be a 4-3-3 but truthfully we don't have a clue what kind of strikers he wants for this Milan.

SES and Menez may be collateral, pawns to be used as bargaining chips in other deals, or Sini may see them as integral, even though all speculation pointed to Menez being sold pre-mercato.

A new manager always wants his own stamp on the team, and recalling Niang is his choice, as is the signing of Bacca. Menez is a Pippo player, and SES has had 4 years to establish himself, never succeeding.

I don't think it's cut and dried that those five are our forwards at Sini's will. It's fact that they're what we have right now, but I can't see it staying that way.

And a potential Ibra signing.

That too. I can only imagine that 1 or 2 of SES/Menez/Cerci will be loaned/sold/let go

We're going to be using a 4-3-1-2 next season so none of them will really have a set position that they can call theirs for next season.

All can play the SS role, and if Ibra comes I can only imagine one of them would be his vice. Menez is too undisciplined to be considered for the AM slot imo. I'd personally sell him as he's the one we could get the most out of plus I can't see him willingly accepting a bench position. SES could be loaned out, I can't see us selling him this summer, but if it were up to me, he'd be the easy choice for that position as Ibra's sub (should he come). He'll accept the bench role easily, yet he's willing to work his @ss off to prove himself, plus I think he's never really been given a shot at playing his best position, which is this one, and not as a winger.

Cerci I have no loyalties to. He's been p!ss poor since he came, he's a winger and he's not even our player. Just send him back to Atletico and be done with him already, it was a mistake to bring him in the first place

Ideally we'll have 4 or 5 strikers

Luiz Adriano and Bacca are practically confirmed. I think Ibra will come late in the summer, especially now that PSG have been given the green light to spend at will. They'll probably get Lacazette which would open the doors for us to swoop in for Ibra.

So that's Bacca, Adriano, Ibra, SES and Niang. That is more than enough for 2 starting spots.

It's been confirmed that we're playing 4-3-1-2. We're going after 3 pure strikers and we'll most likely do our best to offload our wingers this summer. We're looking at 2 prima puntas and one support striker. We've already signed the 2 prima puntas and Ibra will most likely be the 3rd for the SS position, although Jovetic is being mentioned a lot as well.

Menez is the one we'll get good cash for. I'd sell him in a heart beat if an offer came. SES won't be sold this summer, at most he'll get loaned out but I think we'll try to offload Cerci and keep SES and Niang as the subs with more experienced players as the starters.

Also, Sinisa has implied that SES is in his plans for next season

He's a poacher more than anything else, at least that's what I'm getting from that vid and the others I've seen of him, if we get him a proper partner (Ibra) and a strong mid behind him he'll score for fun, if not he'll struggle in the same fashion that the other strikers we've had before him did

I actually see Mexes as a starter. Him and the left-footed CB Mihajlovic has asked for (Romagnoli, Nastasic, Abdennour etc.) should form the defensivee duo. That's because I rate him higher than Alex, Zapata and Paletta. Unless we're bringing in a second quality CB, which I have my doubts.

In my best case we get two quality CBs. One high quality guy to lead the line and one younger promising CB. In that scenario Mexes would be my 3rd CB. 3.5m a year for a sub according to reports...

Galliani never learns
X-Offender
For €8 million it's not a bad deal, but yeah, €3.5 million per season is too much.

Now we can finally concentrate on signing a quality CM and a quality CB. Reports saying we've offered €16 million to Roma for Romagnoli, and that there's a meeting planned with Athletic next week regarding Laporte.

By the way, Adriano's signing excludes that of Nastasic or any other non-EU players, since we've already filled up all available places.

I'm glad we are doing business swiftly and aptly this summer, Id love to see Ibra signed asap, but I think that deal may take sometime if it happens.

Alex is the best of those three but he's also the oldest and most injury prone. Makes him a lot less appealing to me.
