I don't think that it was 8m to begin with. It probably was more between 15 and 20.

But I still don't understand how now they are reporting that they still haven't agreed on the fee, when Laporta himself yesterday said that both offers were satisfactory

Mixed messages continue to punctuate the Ronaldinho transfer saga. It seems clear he will be leaving Barcelona, but for whom? Recent reports have pointed to AC Milan, but now Manchester City chairman Garry Cook, confirming that the club has made a £22million bid for the Brazilian, insists that his target 'just wants to play in the Premier League.'


Garry Cook, chairman of Manchester City, is quoted in The Guardian newspaper as saying: "I can confirm that we have made a bid [of £22million for Ronaldinho].

"It has been a complicated process, not least because the Barcelona organisation has just gone through a fundamental change because of their elections, meaning that a new general manager is in place and we are talking to different people than before. But in the simplest terms, we have made an offer."

And Cook stressed that Ronnie is serious about moving to England with City. He continued: "We are determined to do everything we can to make this happen. As for his intentions, they are somewhat muddled because of the interest from elsewhere, but what I can say is that he has shown a genuine interest in playing for Manchester City."

"He is not playing games with us. He just wants to play football. And the really important thing is, does he want to play in the Premier League? If you were to ask him that, his answer would emphatically be YES."

So, while some reports insists that the Brazilian expects to be a Milan player by the end of this week, the British media are suggesting that, after months of negotiations, Ronaldinho could well be signing a Manchester City contract within days.

Ancelotti Hails Imminent Ronnie Arrival

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has hailed Ronaldinho as a “champion”, as the Italian press believes that the Brazilian will complete his move to San Siro within the next 48 hours.

One of the main transfer soap operas of the summer could be finally drawing to a close, as the Italian press is absolutely adamant that Ronaldinho will sign for Milan within the next couple of days.

Yesterday was an exhausting day, with Milan general manager Adriano Galliani engrossed in negotiations with Ronaldinho, his brother and agent Roberto de Assis, Barçelona president Joan Laporta and the club's Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain.

The end result was that Barcelona will now take "two or three days" to mull over Milan’s offer, having allegedly told Ronaldinho that, in case his move is not completed within 72 hours, he will mandatorily have to join the rest of the squad for training.

Premiership side Manchester City have bid more than double that of Milan for the Brazilian (€32 million), and offered a €12million-a-year contract, but the player is only interested in moving to Milan.

The Italian media believe that Ronaldinho will certainly be a Milan player by Friday at the very latest.

"The important thing is to have champions and Ronaldinho without a doubt is one of them," said Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"Quality is our trademark and it will continue to be whether Ronaldinho arrives or not. "Our aim is as usual to win while providing a good show. This is Milan."

If it was for Galliani and Bronzetti they'd love to be flying and having meals in Catalonia for the entire Summer. But I think Barcelona wants to do it right now.

Secondo quanto appreso da Tuttomercatoweb, pare che alla base della fumata nera dell'incontro avvenuto al Ristorante Via Veneto di Barcellona tra Milan e Barça, ci sia la folle richiesta del Barcellona di 25 milioni più 5 di incentivi per il cartellino di Ronaldinho: un affare addirittura superiore a quanto sarebbe disposto ad offrire il Manchester City. A questo punto Galliani potrebbe incontrarsi a minuti con Ronaldinho: l'asso brasiliano dovrebbe uscire allo scoperto e rompere completamente anche con l'offerta City per forzare la mano.
