What kind of owned walks out of their teams match just because they're losing? That's not good at all.

Berlusconi already did that, and in San Siro.

Galliani it's not the owner but did that more than once too. rolleyes.gif

QUOTE
Andrei Shevchenko concedes he is at a loss to explain Jose Mourinho's reluctance to use him in his Chelsea first team.

Mourinho has insisted the Ukrainian striker is not match fit following a niggling back injury, with Shevchenko having not figured in any match squad this season.

However, on the contrary to Mourinho's claim, Shevchenko believes there is no reasonable explanation for his continued non-involvement at Stamford Bridge.

"At Chelsea, I am not playing and I don't know why," he lamented.

"I have not understood this but I am waiting for my chance."

At a loss

Shevchenko's grievances do seem to have some credence, given he played 55 minutes of Ukraine's friendly win over Uzbekistan on 22nd August, and he is set to figure prominently for his country in the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifying double header.

Shevchenko currently finds himself fourth choice in West London, with Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and new boy Claudio Pizarro all ahead of him in Mourinho's striking pecking order.

While Mourinho has never seemingly been overly enthused by the club's record £30million signing, owner Roman Abramovich is both a friend and fan of the disgruntled former Milan favourite.

It was Abramovich that oversaw the 31-year-old's signing but it remains to be seen whether he still figures in Mourinho's plans, upon the resumption of the Premier League calendar after the international break.

Sky Sports

With the way Sheva's going we'll be able to sign him in January and still play him in Europe. With Mourinho in charge, I can't see him getting much playing time.

United are the richest sporting team in the World accoriding to Forbes, I suppose that means they make a hell of alot each year. Unfortunately there will be no trouble, thoguh I'd love it if they turned into Leeds.
Tennie
Possible problem for Everton. Tim Howard dislocated a finger just now in a US-Brazil friendly. His hand hit the post as he dived to save a shot on goal. They popped the finger back in and he's sitll playing, but...

EDIT: Brazil won 4-2. They did a postmatch interview with Kaka and his English is quite good! He must have found an English teacher somewhere in Milan....smile.gif

The richest soccer club in the world is Real Madrid, no mather what Forbes says.

Everybody knows it... they're the club with more $$$ (they prove it every single year), fans (worldwide), titles (30 in their league and 9 CL), tradition and history.

Curiosity: They sold 64.000 season-tickets last season... rolleyes.gif United around 55.000 and Milan will get 40.000 this year.

About debt: United = 1B, Madrid = 500M but the spanish team got 350M of revenue this year for example... a record I think.
dst
What do you mean "everybody knows it"!??? rolleyes.gif Everybody knows that they get money from the Spanish monarchy too... but you won't admit it! At least in this case, there is Forbes with some clues to back up what they claim!

And what do titles and history got to do with this?

Yes. Everybody knows it, even the Catalonian c*nts or the arrogant ones from Manchester. It's undeniable.

Forbes? Forbes says Arsenal is the 3rd richest club in the world. rolleyes.gif And Milan 5th. laugh.gif

Nothing. Just put there to say Real is "rich" in every way you can find for a soccer club. [Maybe I'm translating from the portuguese. At least 'rich' here doesn't mean always money]

Well Portman....for Forbes rich means money. Of course Arsenal is gonna rank above Milan. They got a 700 mill dollar stadium among assets, while Milan don't even own the San Siro. And Berlusconi unfortunately doesn't count as a Milan asset.

*sigh* Even Barbara....she's one of the fringe benefits..doesn't count. wink.gif

Arsenal's promotion is huge in Japan (and East Asia in general)... Japan is a BIG market. Also, like Jack said, Silvio's bank account does not belong to Milan! And... Premier League right now is some ages ahead of Serie A (unfortunately for us all). Derby County got E70m just for their promotion in the Premiership... you can imagine how much Arsenal get... and they spend little on transfers!

My bad then, I meant in terms of money.

About the season ticket sales, I'm not sure if this is the case in other countries, but we're only allowed to sell a certain % of the stadium as season tickets. United, almost every year, sell 100% of season tickets allowed. So that's probably why Real sell more.

As dst, it has nothing to do with Silvio. Otherwise Chelsea, Villa, Man City and West ham would be about 5 times richer than Arsenal, but it's not their own money, it's their owners.

they mean value, and a huge part of that is the stadium. emirates is one of the best football facilities in the world and it's pretty darn new, i'd say it's the best in england if not in the world because size isnt everything (2nd maybe to wembley).

although you gotta the san siro. it has everything: size, history, character and personally i like steep stadiums like the kops in england so the san siro is just steeper than other stadia in italy (ei delli alpi, olimpico)

It has nothing to do with that. I don't judge how good a stadium is by how much I like a team, that doesn't even make sense. tongue.gif

I hate United and Newcastle but St. James' Park and Old Trafford are the best in the country, followed by the Stadium of Light and the City of Manchester Stadium. I've not yet been to Wembley, so I can not say how great it is.

Next you'll be saying Inters' and Milans stadiums are similar. tongue.gif

Ferguson Attacked At Train Station

It has been reported this evening that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was attacked at a London train station yesterday.

Ferguson is believed to have been kicked by a random attacked while he was at Euston Station on Monday afternoon.

The 66-year-old had travelled by train to London, but was not badly hurt and managed to attend a planned function in the capital as planned.

The Scot alerted British Transport Police at the station, who subsequently made an arrest following the incident.

Keep an eye on:

-Dani Pacheco, a youngster from Spain (ex-Barcelona) signed for Liverpool some months ago. Barça was pissed off. biggrin.gif

He's one of the best from their academy - a foward but still 16.

-Another top-youngster in England with 17 yo is the Arsenal's midfielder Fran Merida.

2 super-talents from Spain that chose EPL for their future. Interesting.
