FT 3-0. Not a surprise if we know it was 11 v 10 for 1 hour in Old Trafford.

Well, when they play against a team that isn't one of the big 4, they ALWAYS have the ref doing the best he can to win Liverpool the game. It's refreshing to see that not happen today/

Quaresma = 10 times what Nani is. The problem is that he's not in Man Utd so he's not as hyped.

I'd disagree. Even living in England I hear way more about Quaresma than I do Nani. Last time I saw Quaresma play he has one huge flaw. He just won't pass.

Of course. I forgot him! overall Portugal have a very good chance of making at least the semis imo. mainly because there is Ronaldo. hope he doesn't under-perform in this big stage.

I think of Portugal as Europe's Brazil btw! tongue.gif

He's tired of Porto. In the last few months he did feck all.

In Portugal everybody knows he's leaving FC Porto.
R.Madrid or Inter are the teams that he's being linked on the last few weeks.

Duh. Just watched the 30min. highlights of the United-Loserpool game. Reina is stupid! He is at fault for both Brown's and Ronaldo's goal... he is too short to come out like that, isn't it pretty obvious?

It's almost the end of the season and he's yet to score, which is awful for an AM. Even Derby's backup AM has scored this season. It's pathetic. One of the worst value for money signing this season, in my opinion.

Anderson played a lot of matches as CM in the pure 4-4-2 in this Man Utd. Only a few as AM in a typical 4-3-3 as he did in Porto.

And @dst... Milan would never pay 30M/euros for any player at the moment. Pato was half of that.

We paid 50 million euros for Inzaghi. But I guess he made it worthwhile with his epic goals when it mattered the most.

DIC to seal £400m deal for Liverpool in 'three to four weeks'

By Jason Burt and Ian Herbert
Tuesday, 25 March 2008

The long pursuit of Liverpool by Dubai International Capital is set to end within the next "three to four weeks" with the investment group taking full control of the Premier League club, according to a source close to the proposed deal.

DIC is understood to be confident that it will finally buy the club for £400m – and is looking to involve a "third party" investor, who would take a minority stake, as part of its business plan. The company is believed to already have an agreement in place with the club's co-owner George Gillett Jnr to buy his share. It is also confident that Tom Hicks, who owns the other 50 per cent, is now close to agreeing to sell to them even though he cut off negotiations earlier this month insisting he would not sell even a minority stake. Hicks also said he would block any attempt by Gillett to sell.

Although DIC, which is the private equity investment arm of the Dubai government, realises it is paying a high price for Liverpool – Gillett and Hicks bought the club for £219m 13 months ago – such is its determination to succeed that it wants to push ahead. "It's not a cheap deal and Hicks is holding out but there is confidence that it will now finally happen," a source said. Matters have not been helped by the strained relationship between the two Americans.

DIC, whose chief executive Sameer Al-Ansari is a life-long fan of the club and who will join the board, has ambitious plans which could include involving some of its other investment vehicles in an attempt to raise its profile. The hotel group Jumeirah could be used as part of the development of a new stadium. A wide-ranging review of the club, and its revenue streams, will be conducted.

DIC came close to buying Liverpool before the Americans' acquisition and has tried to resume negotiations, on and off, ever since. The reason for the apparent confidence now could be that several of Hicks' loans are due for refinancing within two or three months. This may be the trigger for his main lender – believed to be JP Morgan – to force him back into talks with DIC and accept its offer for Liverpool.

The full level of the Texan's debt is unclear. But DIC sources believe he has been hit badly by the state of the financial markets in the United States, which has seen the value of assets which he has borrowed heavily against drop – in some cases by between 30 and 50 per cent. Were Hicks unable to refinance loans when, at a time of severe anxiety among financial institutions, they are due, JP Morgan could take over the assets Hicks has borrowed against or force a sale. Since bankers would tend to sell on such assets anyway the presence of a prospective buyer like DIC would be attractive to them.

Given how far apart DIC and Hicks seem to be, it would appear that any chance of the Arab consortium having a future role at Anfield would be through a complete takeover, with or without a junior partner.

So, things are over or not?

After the last result I can see Liverpool fans thinking:

"Feck that. We want the arabs. We want 342894392849499422903 zillions spent next Summer on Joaquin, Dani Alves, Rafinha, Quaresma, Huntelaar and M.Richards." biggrin.gif

DISAPPOINTMENT AT FIXTURE CHANGE

Chelsea Football Club is extremely disappointed with the announcement today regarding the Everton fixture.

We believe the decision to hold the match on Thursday April 17 undermines the sporting integrity of the competition by giving our rivals for the Premier League title an unnecessary competitive advantage at a critical time of the season, with more recovery time from their previous match and preparation time for their next fixture when we have to play two games during the same period.

Secondly there has been no consideration given to our fans who will be presented with serious travel, work and other issues.

And lastly, the decision sets a dangerous precedent in changing match days still further when fixture congestion does not exist and when a sensible solution regarding other television matches that weekend was suggested.

Football has benefited greatly from the backing of television and Chelsea as much as anyone else. However this decision is one step too far and we reserve all rights on our position.
kurtsimonw
Completely unfair on Chelsea in my opinion. Looks like the EPL is still doing everything they can to win United the league.

Anyways, Derby 1-0 Fulham and Bolton 1-0 Arsenal.

EDIT:
Derby 1-1 Fulham.
Sunderland 1-1 West Ham.
Diaby red card for Arsenal, looks like 4 straight defeats away at Bolton for the Gunners.
Portsmouth 1-0 Wigan.
kurtsimonw
And then there were two..

Arsenal are out of the title race. Bolton 2-0 Arsenal, Matty Taylor with both, and Arsenal down to 10 men.

EDIT: 2-1, Gallas.

EDIT 2: Maybe it's not all over, penalty Arsenal. van Persie.. goal. 2-2.

Oh please, that was lucky and nothing more. If anybody else scored that goal nobody would care rolleyes.gif

Can't believe we lost 4-0 really, United played well but we created plenty of chances. A defeat by 1/2 goals would have been a fair result, but 4 doesn't have a fair showing on how well we played.

The refereeing was, as usual, terrible. No big decisions went against us, but it's all the little things. Every 50/50 goes Uniteds way, corners not given to us when they clearly should have, free-kicks not going our way. It's always the same, Old Trafford is an unfair advantage.

I can't wait to see Wengers interview later on. I'm sick of hearing him talk about how his team are kicked all over the place, the Diaby tackle today was much, much worse than the Martin Taylor one on Eduardo, let's see how he reacts to it.

1 goals + 3 assists! Come on, what are they "feeding" him!?? biggrin.gif Seriously, if a player from the Euro winners does brilliant and wins the Ballon d'Or instead of him, he should kill himself! biggrin.gif

Even his assist with Rooney was lucky, that was meant to go to Evra. tongue.gif

But R+R were the difference today, just class. Teves really is a bad player, he missed 2 or 3 very easy chances. They need to replace him with a real player to partner Rooney. And if they play like they did today for the rest of the season, nobody can catch them.
