Liverpool 5-0 Luton

Babel is definately a first-team player for Liverpool. Rafa must play him. He's not a pure winger but still... the best LW/RW (better as LW) they have by far.

He'll have a great future IMO. Loads of potential there. Just like Torres.

The score flatters Liverpool.

They were useless in the first half, against a team that's lost half of it's players. They'll need to improve if they even want to finish top 4 this season.

Yep. You should beat these teams in one.

Ah well, at least Liverpool have tonnes of confidence now after a thrashing like that. Oh, their next game is at home to Villa. Fan-f*cking-tastic. rolleyes.gif

Houllier is now tha favourite to get the job, apparently.

The Newcastle chairman came out with some rubbish today, saying that the future manager MUST be able to play attractive football. rolleyes.gif

So when he's entertaining the crowds in the Championship, will he be happy? unsure.gif

@kurt:

I can't believe u hate Newcastle. realmad.gif

They're my fav team in England. Watching them play(the true Newcastle way, not this crappy Allardyce stuff) is like reading Don Quixote charging the windmills. They're a great team.

I'd like Newcastle to be great again. Entertaining crowds ought to be what football is about too. Not just winning the FA cup. ( tongue.gif )

What would I do with Newcastle....

Geremi----Simic-----Taylor----Bridge
------------Barton-----Butt-------------
--------Milner----Duff-----N'Zogbia----
-------------Martins/Owen/Viduka-----

Coach: Ten Cate/Jol/Mourinho (devil.gif)/MvB tongue.gif

They just need two big transfers...one for the CB position, and one for the LB position. kurt for God's sake hands off Milner. He's all we've got actually, esp with Nolby and Scottie gone. Barton's a jackass. The Toon is better off bidding for Sissoko.

This could easily save them this season. Even end up in the top 8 teams if they play it right.

@dst: That's good about Bangura. I hear Sierra Leone is totally wasted away. It's not like he can go back and even be a beacon of hope for his country. Like Weah or Drogba or Eto'o.

@Porty: A certain MvB did say Babel could work out to better than Henry, and begged him to stay on in Ajax to develop. But nooooo...he had to haul @$$ to play a game every month for $$$.
KillerMax
Duff in the middle? He is a natural winger.
Jack Sparrow
He's the most versatile P.O.S I have ever seen in the EPL. He can play LB...AM (with a left bias)...and even second striker. Those three could run around switching positions at will.

Newcastle's problems recently hasn't always been with their team(except that pathetic excuse for a defence). Player attitudes, fitness and manager swapping have had some part to play.

Manchester City weiter an Podolski interessiert

Manchester City wants to sign Lukas Podolski (at least in the summer but it seems they want him now). And far as I can tell they're interest is serious. Would be a good choice for Poldi since he won't have a chance at Bayern against Miro Klose and Toni. And for City he would be a great add, he's still one of the most talented strikers in the world. If he's in the right place could really become a big star.

He would have been a good choice for Milan in 2006, but not in 2008.At Bayern he lost that special something he had in Cologne, that "Poldi magic". He doesn't do amazing things anymore but I'm confident he'll regain his strength when he's playing for a "minor" club like City or Newcastle wink.gif

Newcastle, both board and fans, are completely deluded, that's why i don't like them. They actually think they're one of the best teams in the country, but they've nothing to show for the last 50 years. "I'd like Newcastle to be great again" When were they ever great. tongue.gif

They just never learn from their mistakes, and hiring Keegan as manager won't help. They just want to play attractive football, so they only buy attacking players. Their defense is the reason they've failed for the past decade, but they do nothing to change it, and even when they do like this season, the defenders they've bought in are Championship level. rolleyes.gif

You can put Duff on the right in your formation, Milner will also be playing on the right.. but at Villa (fingers crossed!). I think Newcastle will improve in the next few games, for Keegans 'honeymoon period' but they'll finish in the bottom half of the table, a long way off Europe.

About Bangura, it really is fantastic news, fantastic to see that he can stay!

Hopefully whoever buys Liverpool from Hicks and Gillett has some sense. There's nothing worse than seeing probably the greatest club in our countries history in control of two morons. From the first moment on I said DIC would be the best option for them.

Blues close in on Villan Cahill

Birmingham City are talking to their city rivals Aston Villa about signing defender Gary Cahill.
Cahill has been on loan with Sheffield United this season and seems surplus to requirements at Villa Park.

Blues boss Alex McLeish told BBC WM: "We've spoken to Villa about it and nothing's happened as yet.

"We're waiting to see whether the player wants a loan deal or a permanent one. It's another one of these maybe, maybe not situations."

"I like Gary," the former Scotland boss added. "I've seen him a few times - both in the flesh and on DVD."

Cahill burst onto the Premier League scene by scoring with a spectacular scissor-kick for Villa in the derby win nearly two years ago.

And that moment still sticks in McLeish's mind: "I remember his fantastic goal against Birmingham and he formed a good partnership with [Liam] Ridgewell too."

BBC

This had better not end up being a permanent deal. Giving them Ridgewell was fine, he's crap, but this would be a stupid mistake.

Liverpool set for new buy-out bid
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer

Dubai International Capital - the investment arm of the Dubai Government - is to launch a £500m bid to buy Liverpool Football Club.

BBC Sport understands the offer is in the process of being made to American co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

DIC was originally thought to be ready to make an offer for Hicks' 50% share, despite his insistence that he is unwilling to discuss a sale.

But DIC is now poised to make an offer for the complete buy-out of the pair.

BTW, Cristiano is at the moment having a bad moment in his personal life:
QUOTE
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is hiding a secret heartache - his mother is battling breast cancer.

Dolores Aveiro broke the news to the Manchester United player at the start of the season.

While he has been turning in some of his best performances for his club, she has been having life-saving treatment.

Surgeons removed a lump from her breast before sending her to a specialist clinic for a successful course of radiotherapy.

Dolores, 53 tomorrow, is recovering at home in Madeira and taking daily anticancer tablets to keep the disease at bay.

Ronaldo, 22 - who watched his dad Dinis drink himself to death at just 52 two years ago and helped his brother Hugo to fight a drug addiction - has been calling every day for an update.

A friend said: "This has hit Cristiano really hard. He's had his fair share of family heartache and his mum means the world to him." Dolores said: "Cristiano phones me every day. He's always telling me this is nothing and how I'm going to live until I'm 90."

Ronaldo, due to play at West Ham yesterday, added: "I try to give my mum lots of love and affection. I'm just sorry I can't be with her for her birthday in Madeira"
