Referee's in the Premier League.

Referees are the worst thing in football by a long way, worse than diving, worse than fighting, worse than everything. I managed to watch the Villa-Fulham game earlier. It finished 2-1, but it shouldn't have by any means. Both teams were denied a clear penalty, both lineman had no brains, every foul hat was made, they'd seem to give it the wrong way, right in front of them! huh.gif

The referee didn't seem happy with his poor decisions, so decided to go and ruin the game more. Ashley Young was fouled on the edge of the box as he made a through ball, Luke Moore put theball in the net, the ref disallowed the goal and sent of Chris Baird instead, when he had no reason to. That would have made it 2-1 Villa. In the 90th minute Barry, who was 2 yards onside, 'scored' the winner to make it 2-1, THAT was then disallowed for offside! Luckily, Maloney latched onto a through ball, but was offside, and scored, the linesman kept his flag down this time. They seemed to get every possible decision wrong. So instead of Villa winning the game 3-1 or so in a good game, we had to play a one-sided game against ten men, which we ultimately won with the last kick of the game, when it shouldn't have even counted. rolleyes.gif

This comes after the dubious goal Fulham weren't awarded after it went about 3 yards over the line. The awful penalty decision given to Chelsea vs Liverpool at the free kick that shouldn't have been given to Liverpool, which won them the game against Villa amongst about a billion other things. Goal-line technology may be needed, but I think the most important thing is to start fining referees or something for awful decisions, because they're getting worse by the year. The season is only 2 weeks in and I've never seen so many poor decisions. It's getting ridiculous already.

On a side note. The referee in the Newcastle - Villa game was superb, as was the one in control of Sunderland - Liverpool. But neither had any major decisions to make so..

/End rant. Needed to vent my anger. tongue.gif

I can't find a link for this one. But apparently Obafemi Martins has rejected a move to Arsenal after a £13m bid was accepted.

I do like him, but it was only the second half of yesterday's game that he's done anything, so far this season he's been useless.

Jol's going to get owned by the FA I reckon, for saying United have special rules. biggrin.gif

He's been injured though in the main! He just makes things look so easy, rarely gives the ball away, most of his attempts at goal are worthwhile. Did you see him bring the ball down turn 2 United players and so nearly put it right in the top corner if someone like Ronaldinho did that we'd be talking about it for years.

The blokes class, he can appear lazy he's not really that quick but what a target man, no wonder Man United could possibly break the bank again to sign him.

He did have a good second half and there's no doubting how good he is. Possibly due to injury, he just doesn't seem bothered anymore.

Ronaldinho could score a back heel from his own goal line, I don't like him, I wouldn't even take notice. tongue.gif

I know some people on here that would though!

That's his way, for Leverkusen he was the same just struts around the pitch fiddling with his hair, but he's up there ready for an attack. He's just like a more attacking version of Riquelme really, doesn't give the ball away, great player but they seem like they are uninterested out of possesion!

Apparently he's come out and said he's staying I remember a certain someone doing that this summer about how he would stay with Arsenal tongue.gif

He used the classic line. "I am not leaving, I am a Spurs player.. At the moment."
The football to English translation of that is:
"I'm here because nobody has actually offered for me yet, as soon as they do - I'm out of here." wink.gif

Very good for the Premier League - Very bad for Chelsea.

In other news. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's going to announce his retirement now due to reccuring knee problems, he's had one operation too many. Top class player, was happy to sit on the bench for United for 11 years. Loss for the Premier Legaue.

Villa and Birmingham both look like they'll complete a deal today.
Villa: Zat Knight from Fulham for £4m - Back up centre back, nothing more.
Blues: Peter Luccin from Athletico Madrid £?m - Nice signing, it was only a mtter of time they were going to sign a player with any talent. rolleyes.gif

A local derby has just been abandoned in the Cup (Forest - Leicester), Forest were leading 1-0 but a Leicester player passed out or something at half time. The Forest manager had to come out an make an announcement to stop the game as the Leicester players were too upset to carry on. The player left the stadium conscious, but this still isn't good.

African players want the Cup of Nations moved to the summer? I think that would be a very stupid decision, especially with Africa being even hotter than Europe!

I agree. I think that's what should happen at all times if there's this kinda of seriousness surrounding an incident.

League Cup 2nd Round results:
Birmingham 2-1 Hereford
27' [1 - 0] G. O'Connor
38' [2 - 0] G. McSheffrey
74' [2 - 1] T. Robinson

Bristol Rovers 1-2 West Ham
31' [0 - 1] C. Bellamy
45' [0 - 2] C. Bellamy
71' [1 - 2] A. Williams

Derby 2-2 Blackpool
63' [1 - 0] M. Camara
86' [1 - 1] K. Gorkss
101' [2 - 1] C. Fagan
120' [2 - 2] K. Gorkss
penalty shoot-out : [6 - 7]

Wolves 1-3 Morcambe
62' [0 - 1] C. Baker (pen.)
84' [1 - 1] A. Keogh (pen.)
92' [1 - 2] J. Newby
105' [1 - 3] G. Thompson

Wrexham 0-5 Villa
30' [0 - 1] S. Maloney
52' [0 - 2] L. Moore
62' [0 - 3] N. Reo-Coker
72' [0 - 4] S. Maloney
78' [0 - 5] M. Harewood

Shock of the round is undoubtedly Wolves of The Championship losing at home to Morcambe, who were promoted to League Football for the first time in their history this year. The wonders of Cup football!

On another sad note: Ray Jones, 18, died in a car crash at the weekend, who played for QPR. His number 31 shirt is being reitred in his memory and the FA have given QPR clearance for all the players to wear his name on the back of all of their shirts for their game at the weekend.

Comrade Wenger

By MARK IRWIN
August 31, 2007

ARSENE WENGER will join forces with the Russian revolution as the battle of Gunnerski began yesterday.

Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein sensationally sold his shares to Russian steel mogul Alisher Usmanov and his Iranian partner Farhad Moshiri.

Usmanov, worth a cool £4billion, and Dein will now trigger a takeover battle to seize control of the club and their first ally will be Comrade Wenger, who is now expected to sign a new deal to carry on as manager at the Emirates.
