United are almost officialy champions... Arsenal have to play at United and Chelsea and will host Liverpool... and two of those fixtures are to be played the weekends before their CL qf games... They should focus on the CL in my view without of course giving up on the title...

Tom Hicks, co-owner of Kop Football (Holdings) Limited and, through it, of Liverpool Football Club, today issued the following statement. "Based on a meeting held earlier today in Dubai between my representatives and officials of Dubai International Capital LLC, as well as other recent contacts between us and them, I have decided to terminate any further discussions with DIC regarding their possible purchase of a minority stake in Kop and, in turn, in the Club.
"DIC made it clear that if they invested in the Club, they would want it to be managed by committee. Based on my thirteen years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams, and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool Football Club over the past year, it is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the Club or of the Club's loyal and passionate supporters.
"Accordingly, I have decided to exercise my right under the Kop Football (Holdings) Limited partnership agreement to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the Club to DIC.
"I and my colleagues and representatives will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of Kop and the Club aimed at achieving an appropriate ownership, financial and organizational structure for Kop and the Club over the long term."
Liverpool FC Looks like the DIC-Liverpool thing is over. I bet Liverpool must be so unhappy with the Americans, afterall they only spent £50m in the summer and are financing a huge new state of the art stadium for them. How will they survive under such ownership.

I was reading something earlier. If they win the FA Cup they do not qualify for Europe as they are not allowed to represent England in a European competition. But they can't represent Wales either as they wouldn't have qualified through a Welsh tournement.. So does this mean they can never get into Europe?

You could see the way they cut and pasted what fitted in from the quarter-finals, and the way Real scored 3 goals in the last minutes...it was just pathetic.

Arsenal need a top forward. Adebayor is nothing special. He's good but the whole team plays for him... a top forward would have alread scored 50 in his place...
And they do not play the football I learned to love any more... they are boring. Not just now, all season long. The previous team had such unbelievable pace and so many automatisms it was ridiculous.
I miss Bergkamp and Pires.
kurtsimonw
Mar 16 2008, 12:59 AM
To be honest, it's not a top forward they lack, they don't really lack anything.
If I was to pick the reason they fail to break teams down so often? My reason would be Hleb and Fabregas. As amazing as I think these guys are, they seem fine with just passing it around small spaces and trying to walk the ball in. It's pointless, countless times I've watched them do this.
But take their last 2 home games for example. Their posession, quality of passing and everything was better than that of Villa/Boro, but Arsenal went behind both teams and carried on playing their usual way, they did this until the last 5/10 minutes. Now look at the goals they scored in the last minutes to equalise, they were both balls just lumped into the box for players to attack, no good passing or movement, just Bolton style play of dumping the ball in the box.
Until their kids learn that they need to put crosses in now and then and they need to just play route 1 football every so often, they'll find it very hard to suceed over a whole season, and will find it fairly difficult to come back from behind against teams that defend well.
dst
Mar 16 2008, 01:34 AM
A top forward would help them out of such difficult situations... they lack movement and pace. Hleb and Fabregas need more space but Arsenal are "heavy". In the past they never had to do what you suggest above...

Both teams have American keepers actually. Keller and Howard. Maybe Villa could do with one after Carson yesterday.

Nah, he's been very poor. He's just been so bad on the ball. Given it away at every opportunity. I've seen him play a few times for the NT and he's been impressive, I'm sure he'll be fine when he has time to adjust.

FT Fulham 1-0 Everton. Brian McBride MotM.
At the top..
-Everton are now 3 points behind Liverpool, and Liverpool have the best form in the EPL over the last 6 games. I think it's theirs for the taking (4th place, that is).
At the bottom..
-A huge win for Fulham, they're now only 3 points from safety. Any 2 of Fulham, Bolton, Wigan, Sunderland, Newcastle and Birmingham can realistically go down. I pray for Newcastle and Birmingham.
