Simply love watching this Inter.
Zed.D
Will be a great final. first Coppa final in years I'm looking forward to watching.
Fillipo Simone
Who's playing? Roma and Juve?

Edit: Pardon me, yeah, the Capitale derby. Yeah, that will be a great match. Must be.

Rocchi. laugh.gif Legend. Or should I say, Rocky. 2nd goal of the season against Parma with 9 minutes remaining!

Parma's GK was a total idiot in that goal.

Oh yeah, but Inter will be awfully happy regardless. smile.gif They were walking on fire for the whole 80 minutes. In fact, the last few matches have shown them to be totally out of steam, they desperately need a break (plus a few new players). Let's see what show we put up against the drugged ones later today.

Agreed. I only saw the second half, and Parma were dominating them. That goal come out of nowhere.

Napoli 3-2 Cagliari
Fiorentina 4-3 Torino

We lose today and we're royally f*cked.

Napoli won it in the 94th minute and Fiorentina in the 86th? **** this ****! realmad.gif
kurtsimonw
Lose and we're still 3rd and have basically got through our tough group of fixtures, doesn't matter. We're in the CL next season.

We can't always expect others to win for us. One of the main reasons why we climbed up the ladder so fast in the last few months was because the other teams kept losing points. However, things have entered the final stage, and every point becomes vital at this point. If we don't get our heads out of our butts and start playing some real football, then that 3rd place will slip away just as fast.
Zed.D
Well you could also say the reason they overtook us in the first place is because we had a bad start to the season. but I see your point. it's still in our hands and there should be no excuses.
Fillipo Simone

And why did we have a bad start at first place? Y

Yes, no excuses. The past three matches we've reached bottom. Now we have to show we want the 3rd spot to stay for us and that we can do it.
kurtsimonw
Probably unfounded but talk on twitter of Cavani agreeing to move to PSG. Anything Bayern can do...

Agnelli: Times have changed

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has conceded that Serie A has become a stepping-stone to bigger things for players.

The Bianconeri have run away with the League this season, and could win the Scudetto this weekend if they beat Torino and Napoli lose to Pescara.

However, Antonio Conte's side could only reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and the owner has admitted that Italian football cannot compete with teams from other Leagues around Europe.

“Unfortunately, times have changed,” he told the Financial Times. “Now Serie A is a transition.

“English teams have the ability to merchandise, Spain have the freedom to sell their own TV rights and there are great corporate sponsorship deals in Germany.

“Our bureaucracy is too cast. It took me ten years to get the okay for our own stadium.”

Nothing new - just further confirmation.
X-Offender
Fiorentina currently leading 1-0 against Samp. Right now they're ahead of us.

EDIT: 0-2.

This could never be as bad as 2008. No excuse not to finish top 4. Top 3 is a little harder.
han2503
Winning tonight has become even more important and if the players don't come out at 100% we'll fail because Fiorentina overtaking us will mean that the pressure on them to win has multiplied
X-Offender
Yeah, I'm curious about tonight's game. If we play with the same attitude of the past few weeks, then it means we don't really care about that 3rd place.

What a miserable season for Inter. how many players have they lost to injury?

I hope Zanetti returns to the game. this is not how I imagined his career to end.

Sneaky little weasels' don't make controversial incidents. I'd describe him as passive aggressive. The media and certain individuals talk about him like he is some sort of angelic, kind and fair player which to me is far from the truth. In truth he has always been a good and HIGHLY consistent football player. But he is often a sore loser like the rest of merda and is not a particularly respectful and honorable player.

The reason I called him a sneaky weasel is because I have memories of him acting like such a b@stard in a couple of the Milan derbies without ever getting in trouble because well, he is Zanetti...
X-Offender
Nah, Zanetti's alright in my book. What irks me is when Inter fans compare him to Maldini. A friend of mine even considers him a greater legend than Paolo. Dude, Zanetti is not a legend to begin with! biggrin.gif

Feel sad for him, no matter a little bit of sneaky behaviour here and there that max rightly pointed out, he's always been the only Inter player that I admired. No he's no where near Maldini no matter what Inter fans say, but he's "their" Maldini so to speak. He stuck with them throughout all the failures and was rewarded at the end with a treble winning season.

Zanetti is one of the best players I've seen, technically he's on par with Maldini in my eyes and physically he even tops Maldini because Maldini had already slowed down a bit at this same age while Zanetti was still going ridiculously strong.

But he's no Maldini because he was in the wrong place most of his career. Maldini is in the end a winner with numerous trophies/medals while Zanetti won a few rubbish Scudetti because of Calciopoli. the only real achievement he had was that treble and it was a great one but it still doesn't hold a candle to Maldini's achievements.

Other than that, I can't separate these two greats.

Agreed.

Although I loath inter, Zanetti has been a professional through and through.
Fillipo Simone
Really??

First of all, Maldini is a better defender. Maldini is the best fullback of all times, and he was a hell of a CB when needed as well. Ronaldo (the real Ronaldo) said it, many strikers said it as well - they feared playing against him. He had a feel for the game like little to none other defenders, he knew when and how to execute the perfect tackle. He never relied on physicality, but his touch.

Zanetti is physically and technically strong, but when it comes to the task of defending, Maldini is two leagues above him.

Maldini was a better leader if you ask me. He knew how to raise the spirit of his team, he knew how to handle all the stars - on and off pitch (especially this off-pitch part is important; I read some interviews with Zanetti saying that he had a hard time some players in the locker room in 98'/99'). Zanetti - not so much. He is doing this differently - he tries to (re)ignite his team with showing an example, playing like it's his last match. I don't say it didn't work many times as well, but all in all Maldini is the born captain.

You also have to keep in mind that Maldini is a homegrown talent who has a special connection with Milan through his family. He's our child, our talent, our star, our captain. Zanetti on the other hand came in as a young talent who had nothing in common with his new club. He settled rather nicely.

I must say I'm a bit shocked you said the only thing separating Zanetti and Maldini are trophies.
Rossoneri7
Fillipo, I wouldn't put Maldini and Zanetti in the same sentence. I just did, but ... In general, the two players have captained the Milan sides for a respectable amount of time. The command respect, is all I wish to say tongue.gif

Those bolds parts are true but obvious points. I don't think being born a Milanista and coming though the ranks has an advantage over being an Argie who succeeded in a foreign country. two different situations that cannot be compared. if anything Zanetti had it harder.

Technically, again, it's subjective. Zanetti has always been a wall, he's up there with the best I've seen and he was quite versatile too. two leagues below Maldini? couldn't disagree more.
Zed.D
And Fillipo, I said the thing that separates the two is that one was in the right place, while the other wasn't. if Zanetti played all these years at Milan he'd be worshiped now. it's just bias, like it makes one less of a true Milanista if they admit an Inter player is up there with our Maldini. I can feel the sentiment but I won't let it affect my opinion.
KillerMax
I disagree with zedd and r7 completely and wholeheartedly. Of course if there was a strong player that played for Milan for all of his career instead of inter, he would be loved. What kind of example is that? Fernando Hierro was a very strong and loyal player too and he was considered one of the best and he didn't happen to play for a bunch of losers like Inter, he played for Real. He won everything there. But even my dead grandmother's chicken knows Maldini was a better player than the likes of Zanetti and Hierro. This was unanimous.

There still hasn't been a defender to-date one the same level as Maldini and Nesta and I'm afraid there won't be for some time to come.

Baresi?
acid911
Maldini, then a long gap, then Nesta, then Baresi, then everyone else. sleep.gif Baresi was an absolute legend, a passion bomb, but players like Maldini are a gift to the game of football. In fact, depending on who you ask Baresi and Nesta can be swapped, but that will depend on what era that certain someone watched football.

But there is only player that made a playing position, a shirt number his own. #3 at LB.
Fillipo Simone
I agree with you Max, completely. It simply does not come to just how much you've won or how long you play at a club.

@Zed - I simply disagree with you regarding Zanetti. I really don't think Maldini and him are up there, and that has nothing to do with me as a Milanista (or you). As for Zanetti being Argentinian, yes, maybe it was harder to fit in - but that's not my point. The point is, Maldini is family, he has grown with his father being a Milan player, captain and coach.

@X-O - I think Baresi was a brilliant defender for his time. Yet Maldini and Nesta are better. They are the classical defenders with all modern attributes, whereas Baresi's approach to defending belongs to a era that isn't quite actual. Costacurta as well. This is why I said Zanetti (and Hierro - a great example) are one or two leagues below Maldini.

Surely that's more of a praise of Zanetti though? Maldini had no real reason to leave, ever. Zanetti played for some pretty bad Inter teams and stuck with them despite no links to the club. In the modern game with no loyalty, Zanetti has showed incredible loyalty when he really didn;'t have to.

They're both completely different players though really for different teams with different situations. Hard to compare.

Look at it this way, he could have left to any club in the world for any amount of money. smile.gif Even when Paolo was 25 or 28, he had several offers from EPL and other leagues, on the off chance that he may change his mind. The biggest clubs in the world at that time would have paid him in gold.

Just like Ronaldo (R99) went to the biggest clubs in the world who were all too willing to splash the cash.
