I think the first priority at the moment for Milan is to sell Cassano, hopefully for a swap deal with montolivo.

Just as long as montolivo isnt our promised mr X, really really do want to see the back of cassano even though i was a big fan of him uptill he played in our shirt.

Goodbye Cassano
Fillipo Simone
Why do you people so forcefully want Cassano to be sold? I mean, can't we be happy we're very well covered in that segment?

Because we are well covered in attack and need a couple good midfielders to have any chance at a decent season. If Cassano is sold it very likely means we get one of those needed mids.
Fillipo Simone
Look, I understand that but I'd rather hold on to Cassano and wait till the winter period to sign Ganso and someone else then loose a very good Cassano for a average midfielder like Montolivo.
KillerMax
Didn't Cassano actually help up in the scudetto run with his useful appearances? How many of those players do we actually have that can even come from the bench and give the team a fighting chance?
han2503
Completely agree with Filippo. I don't understand how people would count El Sharaawy, Paloschi and Pippo as full proof options for our attack. The Egyption is not even a striker, and is highly unproven not to mention the fact that we'll probably won't be seeing him play a lot, Palo is the same thing, he's not reliable, while Pippo is very injury prone and shouldn't be counted as a solid option. Essentially we have 4 full proof strikers (Ibra, Pato, Robi and Cassano) with Pato being highly prone to injuries.

Cassano is currently our only real creative player that has the ability to put in that final ball in tight spaces, as was demonstrated last season when we were in jams. Getting rid of Cassano would be a mistake, especially if the deal is to exchange him for an everage player like Montolivo.

If we get good money for him, or can exchange him for a top AM (Pastore maybe) then ok, but not for someone like F'ing Montolivo.

Well said!

I really cannot believe that people are making a case for the removal of Cassano by mentioning Palo and El Sharaawy, and also Pippo to en axtent, not because he cannot do it, but because his body is just reliable any more and can give out at any time.
Fillipo Simone
Thanks guys smile.gif

But Pastore won't come, he's bound with PSG. I think it's official.

Thanks guys smile.gif

But Pastore won't come, he's bound with PSG. I think it's official.

Pastore was an example, exchanging Cassano for Montolivo, at least without any good cash coming our way, would be idiotic on the management's part.

Cassano along with Pirlo is 1 of the very few top class talented Italians in circulation at this time, giving him up for a player like Montolivo would be ridiculous, even if we need a midfielder badly. Montolivo is not worth that much, they spent a lot on a kid like El Sharaawy, so I don't think getting Montolivo would be a big problem if the management actually did want him.

Btw, still can't understand why Pastore would want to go to PSG, but that's another thing all together and probably shouldn't be discussed here
Dracoris
If Cassano was serious about his future with us he would've used the off season to get back in shape and earn his starting place. I can't take away the fact that he helped us with a few crucial games coming off the bench, this is true. But if we can sell our 5th string striker to fund a first string midfielder, you'd have to be crazy not to go for it.

Montolivo ain't that bad, and is underrated on this board IMO, but he shouldn't be our only signing if purchased.
Fillipo Simone

Who are the 4 strikers before him?

One would think that we're in December right now from you comment, and not July/August.
Dracoris
If I said 4th string would it make you feel better? Does it really matter or do you have your cranky pants on today?

Your second comment doesn't even make sense. Even Galliani has voiced his displeasure with Cassano's weight. This time last year you guys were saying identical things about Ronaldinho. According to this source: http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=58074 he's last place in Allegri's pecking order. Thats not exactly earning your place for our "most creative striker."

I would give my opinion on the matter, but I'm afraid Fillppo and han will spank me, so I refrain.

Cassano isn't in good shape atm, but come on! Cut the guy some slack, he just had a kid, and it's not like it's been 6 months or something like that, it's just been 2 months or so (during which he's been on his deserved summer break), he'll get into shape as pre-season draws on and the new season begins.

People have been gaining up on him for not looking that good against Bayern, but aside from a few players (which I can count on one hand) nobody looked good, pre-season has only just started, getting back into fitness will take time. As for Cassano's weight, I don't think he'll ever get to the weight he was during his early 20s before going to Real, what really matters is his match fitness, and like I said he'll get that with time, like the rest of the players who have been on holiday for the summer and are looking sluggish

your saying it like Cassano concieved and gave birth to the child itself, tough s**t is what i call it.
You've gotta balance your family life and work out, what does he want maternity leave ?

Cassano does have individual talent no doubt, but at the current state of our midfield much like dracoris was saying sacrificing cassano for montolivo and signing Mr X would be ''crazy not to go for''

The fact is that his kid is around 3 months old and Cassano was on his summer holiday, so again, I'll cut him some slack for the time being, if we're in the winter and he's still looking like he can barely run, then we'll talk about it

I think you're giving a lot of credit to Montolivo, the player who usually disappears in any important match and in reality isn't that good.

I'd sacrifice Cassano only for someone a lot better who would take us to the next level, Montolivo is certainly not that.

Agreed on both counts. Particularly the need to purchase that illusive big buy after it. wink.gif Though on paper, getting a mediocre or injury-prone midfielder is still better than not getting any at all. As long as we buy Aquilani now, and finalize a deal for Ganso in January, our midfield will be miles better than what it is in now.

I'd take this scenario as plausible: Cassano + money for Montolivo, then Paloschi out on loan, then Balotelli in on loan. That sounds possible to me, but it would be a nightmare. We'd loose two good players for a average midfielder and a mental case.
acid911
QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Aug 2 2011, 01:44 AM) *
We'd loose two good players for a average midfielder and a mental case.

That's the only reason why that scenario is not plausible for me. dry.gif That mental case alone is going to cause no amount of havoc here in Milan. Add the other hotheads in the mix (Mexes, Ibra, etc) and that is a good a recipe for disaster as any. I know, I know, a lot of our enigmatic "Ego" players behaved in the first year, including MvB, but still.

I don't want to see Clash of the Titans in the Milan camp, more so with senior players leaving (already left).
Fillipo Simone
Off all players, I wouldn't include van Bommel in it. He's a wild tackler sometimes, but just like Flamini, that's about it. No real controversy. At Bayern, where he played for years, he had only one or two bigger incidents.
CHU-LIP
Van Bommel matured. And he never was a selfish player. I don't see why he should be an issue. It's good to have him here. And that's an understatement.

Yeah I know, and agree to an extent. I am a fan of the player after all, and have been for years. laugh.gif I practically was most pleased with him coming here (at least here at Milanfan), and after Ronaldo in 2007, so this was one special transfer for me. You know, sometimes you like a player, and he comes in - that feeling.

The only reason I included him in that list is because even though he is new in our colors, he still is a seasoned player. A veteran. One who probably won't take shtick from a mental junior, whoever that may be. huh.gif Sure he is one of the most professional footballers around, but I am sure he too has a line, a boiling point. We all do. Imagine thing working up between him and Balotelli or anyone else, and it will be hurt the club more than it will the players.

Remember 2005/06? And then before that as well. wink.gif We have been lucky in this regard, having Paolo as the de facto captain, and other seniors around him, most of them captains of their national team. A lot of them have sailed into the west, and the rest of them are planning to hang their boots in the coming seasons. Point being: Other clubs have had such disasters and petty fights, and the family atmosphere in our dressing room can only run so far.

Agreed.

I think Palo will be wasted here because I cannot see him getting any decent playing time, but giving up Cassano for Montolivo (I don't think iorentina are in a position to offer us good cash) is ridiculous to me
CHU-LIP
Cassano + money for Montolivo?? Casaano is better AND Montolivo has only 1 year contract left. How does us adding cash make ANY sense?
Fillipo Simone
Well, that's what Fiorentina wanted.
CHU-LIP
Yea well, Fiorentina keeps asking way too much for someone they need to sell now. Fiorentina wants to cash in nicely on a player with 1 year left, and get Aquilani as cheap replacement. They try to be smart. Milan should give them the finger, and go sign Aquilani. La Viola tries to rip off Rossoneri.

Liverpool man Alberto Aquilani’s agent has confirmed he’ll talk to Milan. “I think an agreement could be reached for €10m.”

The midfielder wanted to stay on at Juventus after his year-long loan, but the club did not take up its option to buy for around €17m.

He is not part of Liverpool’s plans this season and has made it clear he would like a permanent return to Italy.

“When you talk about negotiations like this, there is always an element of truth,” agent Franco Zavaglia told Il Sussidiario.

“Adriano Galliani is currently in China for the Italian Super Cup, but I expect to talk to him when he returns to Milan.

“I think an agreement could be reached for €10m.”

This week Rossoneri Vice-President Galliani admitted Aquilani was the type of player they were looking for to strengthen the midfield.

It would be a huge loss for Liverpool, who paid £20m to take him from Roma two years ago.

“Aquilani is still tied to a three-year contract with Liverpool and before his eventual departure we will talk with those in charge of Liverpool.

“It seems clear to me that the player is not part of the Coach’s plans, so the suggestion he could leave is concrete.”

Agreed. cool.gif Not the best we can do, not the worse either. Like I said before, it's much better than sitting on out behinds and doing nothing. Heck, I'd sign both him and Monti if - or should I say, IF - a big transfer is not on the cards. These two plus Ganso, and our attack should get more than enough through balls to play.

Sure, if a hyper transfer (the infamous Mr. X) is planned and is something Riola is working on, then things change.
Fillipo Simone
He's a good player overall, but I'm still doubtful. Firstly the fact that he is injury-prone, and secondly our lack of creativity, which isn't solved by Aquilani. Why isn't Ganso signed already? I don't get the whole saga, is it for Santos more convenient to keep him another 4-5 months or what?

Also, reports come in that Vilas Boas would like to see Pato at Chelsea (sportmediaset).
nuh
honestly with how slow he is developing i wouldn't mind taking him for some dough so we could buy a pure class CM and use our current money on a AM

Hmh, I do hope so. I must say however, I am not that positive about Pato's future. His injuries make me worry and leave a dark cloud over.

I know, and I agree. huh.gif But give me one footballer his age, with his explosive potential. And no, flashy prima donnas don't count, those who think the world revolves around them, and score when they feel like. I'm not even his biggest fan and still know that this boy has it all. We got him for €17 million or roundabouts, let's earn €170 million off of him.

We can do that by going all the way in the CL, at least once, with Pato as our premier weapon when he is in his absolute prime, plus his market value (which is much higher than the conservative estimate Chelsea put out). I say give him 5 years, keep an eye on his development (the coach has a much bigger role to play here), and then laugh all the way to the bank. wink.gif Like I said, give me one player of his age with this much untapped potential.

The guy's practically been playing in the toughest, most tactical league of them all. Let's cut him a slice here, shall we?
acid911
And by toughest, I also mean the dirtiest. sleep.gif I can count all the instances when Pato was needlessly fouled, or other Serie A players went in with harsh tackles and malicious intent on my hands, and I'd run out of fingers. Point being, we'll be the biggest losers if we sell him now.

Unless, we get some really, really inflated figure. I mean Pastore for €43? Double it up please. And then a bit more.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Aug 3 2011, 01:16 PM) *
I'm not that sure about Cesc. How on earth can we outbid Barcelona?

Well, what was our transfer budget for this season? We paid 10mill or 5mill for the Egyptian kid.If we don't have a set one, then the only way we can outbid if Berlusconi will keep his word,he said he'll bring in two champions...If our transfer budget is 50million(blue mentioned it once),then we could easily outbid them.We can offer them a couple of players that Arsenal would view useful(Emmanuelson).

I'd rather get Aquilani,Ganso and Montolivo(or some other midfielder) if that's the case though. At least,in that way we'll be renovating the whole midfield, instead of buying only one champion.Ganso has the potential to be world-class,and Aquilani without the injuries can be a very useful player for us.Montolivo can be a good back-up too...
This scenario would even cost us less than buying Fabregas.Aquilani is 10million max,Ganso is 20-25mill,and Montolivo is 10mill too. That's about 40million for 1 very young hot prospect, another who is approaching his peak, and one that wants to make a leap to a top club...all for a price less than what we would pay Fabregas which I'm assuming is 45-50million minimum.Let's also not forget the wages Fabregas will be asking for...
