I'm worried though. they'll be so confident after this game, both in the league and in the CL...
han2503
So that makes it 1 Italian team, 1 Spanish (Barca still could potentially get KO'd), 2 English left, 1 German. Not too bad. I say we're pretty on par with the other top 2. I still think said German team shouldn't be there

I think this will keep their focus shifted away from the league. They want that CL more then anything. And it's not like the first leg win did all that much a difference to their league form, which has gone down the drain since that game.

I think this will only be another advantage for us

Exactly. I'll cheer for Inter until they reach the final. But I don't want them to win it, just get to the finals so our co-efficient takes a boost. I still want them to remain with their measly two cups though biggrin.gif

I'll gladly take Barca as this year's winners, they're neighter English nor German, they play great football. And it would be fitting to see them win it in their rival's backyard
Linkman
Yes, it's good for Milan and it's good for Italy, specially with the Bundesliga being so close to overtaking us in the UEFA rankings.

However, it kinda scared me a little. I only saw the second half but Inter played some serious football (had Milito and Eto'o been more accurate, the game would've been done a lot sooner.) We still need them to slip up at least once to win the scudetto, and that's assuming we don't slip up ourselves.

But hopefully they'll focus their energies on the CL. Good result overall smile.gif.

Agree with everything, except it'd make them the 1st team to win back to back titles since we did it in the late 80s. do you want that, too? biggrin.gif

Well, Inter have a tendency to drop points against smaller sides because they're arrogant and don't take them seriously. but you saw what they did to us and nearly every other top team. I'm more worried about what they'll do in the CL. this is such a confidence boost for them, they could go all the way to the semis or even the final.

An Inter-Barca final with Barca winning would be my dream

Reasons:
  • No English team in the final. THANK GOD
  • Inter in the final will boost Italy's co-effeicient
  • Inter will have the CL distraction. Which means more slip ups in the league
  • Barca winning in the Bernabeu. AWESOME!!!

Us winning the league. It's not like Inter are going to catch us in the CL winnings rolleyes.gif

Plus I'd give anything to not have another trophyless season, and we're closer then we've ever been to a league title in years, I wouldn't pass that up for anything, not even Inter winning the CL.
Danny
Really surprised at Sevilla going out - they were really dark horses for the whole thing - maybe now CSKA are...

As for Chelsea Inter - Chelsea were extremely poor and any half decent team would have beaten them. For a side endowed with Drogba, Malouda, Lampard and Anelka they showed very little quality and they were extremely shallow with their play - barely a single shot all night.

Another example of one manager outfoxing another - though it's a lot harder to outfox Carlo than Leo.

Agree also on the whole Inter winning meaning they still have CL to be distracted by - can only help us in the league smile.gif
d'Arc.LP
If Inter goes ahead they will win a lot of money and we will not see a Scudetto and CHL Trophy.
Italy is NOT going to loose its points even if Inter goes down.

Read and watch this :

QUOTE (d'Arc.LP @ Feb 21 2010, 07:43 PM) *
The league coefficient is used to rank the leagues of Europe, and thus determine the number of clubs from a league that will participate in UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

The UEFA ranking determines the number of teams competing in the season after the next, not in the first season after the publication of the ranking. Thus, the 2009 ranking determines the proportion in 2010–11, not 2009–10.

This coefficient is determined by the results of the clubs of the leagues in UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League games over the past five seasons. The number of points awarded each season (two for each win by a club from that league, one for a draw) is divided by the number of teams that participated for that nation in that season. This number is then truncated after three decimal places (e.g. 2 2/3 will be truncated to 2.667).

For the league coefficient the season's league coefficients for the last five seasons must be added up. In the preliminary rounds of both the Champions League and Europa League, the awarded points are halved. Bonus points are allocated for:

* Qualifying for the Champions League group phase. (4 bonus points)
* Reaching the second round of the Champions League. (1 bonus point)
* Reaching the quarter, semi and final of both Champions League and Europa League. (1 bonus point)

The bonus points are added to the number of points scored in a season.

Current ranking (2010-11 UEFA competitions)

QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 16 2010, 10:17 PM) *
Yeah, but they're missing chances! You can't miss chances in these games

For the sake of Italian football I hope they don't

When Milan in 2007 were in final of CHL vs Liverpool, I can rembember J.Zanetti saying: I'm a Liverpool's fan in this game, he was not thinking of Italian football.
BTW, Materazzi have still enough space in his @ss , and I dont want to see that full of trophys there.

Oh , give me a break.
Inter have just gone to quater final and is the most succesfull?
Tell me how many times Inter has gone to semis in last 10 years ?
Or did they won any thing ?
Even if Inter will win CHL (and I cant see that hapening) they wont be such a great team , they did nothing in CHL , they are not a big club and never will be.

Spain is the center of football last 2-3 years and have just one team on CHL , even France have more then them.
And remember, Milan and Berlusconi dont play for Italy they play for fame and money.

quit living in the past like the majority of milan fans. In the year 2010 inter is a much better team, they have achieved much better results in the previous 2 seasons and they are coached/managed by far superior staff than us.

furthermore, unlike that stupid moron berlusconi, they have an owner who cares about the footballing aspect instead of the next 18 year old who is willing to sleep with him.

The cugini are a strong team - or can be when they're not choking. I don't think the stuff they've won in the league the past few years can be seen without keeping in mind that they were the only team to have directly profited by Calciopoli - not a surprise given that the wiretaps in question were from Telecom Italia and the chair of Telecom Italia is on the cugini board. There is also the fact that they've been given FAR more favorable calls in the league during that time than any other club (no squad with Cordoba, Samuel, and Materazzi in defense should go 18 months without conceding a penalty). So, basically, they've got a good squad yes, but they've been playing with a stacked deck.

@ blue, you think Mou is best thing since sliced bread. Please give us all a break. He's nothing but a sore loser @sshole that cries foul whenever things don't go his way.

He's not cruising the league so he thinks everyone is out to get him. So Inter went to the QF after failing miserably year after year (and yes even while Mou was coaching them) boo hoo. Mourinho got lucky once in the CL with Porto, he hasn't been able to achieve that feat again while having some of the best teams in world football at his disposal. Inter have a squad of massive proportions, they get some injuries and it's not a problem.

We played with only one natural defender the entire half against Man U because we had no other options, If Leo was given the same riches as Mou we wouldn't have suffered that defeat against Man U.

Oh and Milan will always be on the high horse when it comes to the CL and Inter. We had a bad year this season, not only coming out of the toughest group but having to face Man U in the last 16, with our best players missing might I add. All the while all this hoopla for Inter reaching the measly quarters. rolleyes.gif Come hear waving the Mourinho flag when he gets Inter to a final. Now that would be a true feat rolleyes.gif

First of all, who's laughing at Inter? I was laughing because I find it completely ridiculous that you call Mourinho a legend for taking Inter to the QF's... is this the staff of legends? Really?

And secondly, you have to realize that not anyone cares about the Italian league as much as you do. I do care about it, but I'd rather see Inter fail and I'd rather see The Arrogant One fail. Now that they're together there's nothing I care about more than their combined fall. Nothing other than Milan of course.

And I could not care less about the people that consider Serie A a laughing stock either. They ALL (and this is not an exaggeration) are ignorant and prejudiced. You're talking about people who will label any Italian team cheaters even if they see their own team cheat while playing against them... that's how much they know... I don't give a **** about such people.
