It doesn't make sense. If Inter think 2-1 is enough, they better hope to be really strong at Stamford bridge. A 1-0 would do for Chelsea.
Zed.D
wow something bad happened to Cech's knee... looks like a serious one...
Patinho
Is cech coming off

Hey, this time I'm actually not complaining. I want the bad team to win. Italy needs to keep its 4th cl spot!

(And I AM A FISH, not that silly person who squeals when she sees Alessandro Nesta.)

Even if all Italian team don't go in the next phase , Italy will still have 4 spots.
But I'm quite sure that Fiorentina and Milan will go through in the quater final.

Of course it's not enough. 3-1 might be enough though. they can park the bus at the Bridge.
Zed.D
Ancelotti's face is priceless when he's losing.
Zed.D
FT. 2-1

Inter need to be MUCH better than this in the 2nd leg if they want to go through.
kurtsimonw
Good result for both sides really. Inter won, Chelsea have their away goal, I'm sure both will be pleased.
dst
This is the best Inter can do at home? laugh.gif Not only did they refuse to play football, Cesar even wasted time whenever he had the chance to ever since they scored their first goal!

It was also funny hearing their fans shout like they had scored every time the easiest of passes was completed. I bet that's the best they can expect to see from their team in Europe...

As for the penalty not given on Kalou... that's as clear a penalty as they come. Judging on Mou's reaction Sunday (when the ref was actually right) if this had happened to Inter he would have dug his own grave on the San Siro turf, then would jump in and keep his hands crossed in the handcuffs gesture...

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Feb 24 2010, 10:08 PM) *
OMG The ref is retarded! stupid yellow card to Milito

That was a pretty blatant dive there!

QUOTE (Zed.D @ Feb 24 2010, 11:03 PM) *
I'm baffled. Inter have looked dangerous every time they have pushed forward

All 3 of them?

PS I hope Chelsea **** their brains out at Stamford Bridge!

So true! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I don't think it deserved a yellow. he got up even before he hit the ground! and didn't even protest ffs. yellow card is for when a player simulates a foul.

QUOTE
All 3 of them?

About 3 or 4 played created that great chance only for Eto'o to waste it, so yes. only those 3.

I don't see how that was not simulation, he clearly goes down intentionally to get the penalty. The only reason he does not protest is because he knows he had made a mistake.

That was another moment when Terry was total asleep by the way. Eto'o looked so bad there... that was amateurish.

If we still have hope of winning Serie A, then it definately wouldn't hurt to have Inter play a few extra games midweek against some top-class opposition... then let them go out in the semis or chortle in the final.

clicky

EDIT: And also according to Gazzetta, police have had to step in between groups of Chelsea and bad team fans in Piazza Duomo this afternoon after they started throwing bottles at each other.

EDIT: Eurosport says the Chelsea fans started throwing the bottles, for what it's worth. But the Inter fans had a poster of Pato that they spat at and then set on fire, so....

Usual English hooligans. I'm surprised they didn't complain of police heavy handedness rolleyes.gif

+1. They really have this "The world owes us something" mentality that I can't stand.

IMO this sort of attitude applies to nearly all football fans.

Inter showed more quality than Chelsea, and they deserved the win, but the idea of Inter progressing would leave a sour taste in my mouth. I would like for Carlo to knock them out with a clean 4 - 0 brute defeat for Inter at the Bridge!

The reason I feel this way is because Mourinho's annoying ego will only grow bigger if he progresses to the Quarter final
dst
You really think Inter showed more quality? huh.gif
Jack Sparrow
Well...Lucio was easily the best player in that game. But I didn't see it as an Inter show. If anything Lucio was singlehandedly keeping Inter in the match. Chelsea were really banging on the walls towards the end.

I meant they have more technically gifted players in Milito, Sjnieder, Etoo, etc. While Chelsea have less of those and more physical presence in Drogba, Ballack, etc.

What Locke said, plus that I'd let them get a little bit nearer to the final this time, thinking that this might actually be their chance to win it, only to get knocked out in an embarrassing fashion in the quarters or semis. that'd be sweeter, wouldn't it? biggrin.gif besides, it would benefit Serie A if some Italian side actually progressed to the next round! I honestly can't see us going through, neither can I see Viola doing it...

Conceding 3 goals at home would be enough to concur your thoughts and I hope United think that way as well. At the same time, I hope we take the pitch on the 10th with nothing to loose and put 3 in the back of their net, football is crazy like that biggrin.gif

Was this the first time Carlo lost to Inert in the CL?? If so, pigs have flown.

The thing is...

Seeing Jnter conceding a goal, losing a game, get out of a cup, it's pure pleasure... such feeling I want rather today than tomorrow
Zed.D
Fair enough. not that I can't be pleased with that, but I want Inter (and if possible Viola) to go through for the sake of the league that I support.

I did'nt even notice Eto'o when he played.. unsure.gif
But Lucio played very good and Malouda always take the Stirrigde place cause
he want to the middle, Kalou played good there! Sturrigde didnt hold his place but they played very good. They diserved do win
MizNelson
I don't think Fiorentina will last for much longer themselves, considering they're wracked with injuries.

I did not see this posted... laugh.gif kudos to Terry for accepting it!

Nope. I'm not generally fond of Italian supporters given the nature of the ones I've encountered in my life.

If I said 1000 you'd say that's too small a number.

I am sure there are plenty of very nice Italian football fans, and I've even encountered a few such individuals - but if you add the constant hooliganism, Ultras etc etc plus the strange arrogance I seem to experience with them, then it's not overly promising overall.

The fairest way I can put it is this - I am not a fan of Serie A, apart from our beloved Milan, and I am not a fan of the Italian national side after a number of incidents I've seen involving them, including against Scotland.

I have also only encountered a minority of Italian supporters that I found pleasant - the majority were not.

I am not saying this is representative of every one of them, but I haven't had the same problem with many if any other nationality of supporter - this forum being a terrific example of a multi national multi cultural fanbase.

It would, Danny!

I'll admit - while we're talking about not-nice fans - that after barely escaping Stamford Bridge with her life, my person is no fan of English fans (this was the Chelsea-Barca game some years ago when Del Horno got sent off). It was a scary evening.

I'm sure you know what I mean. Fans of the Old Firm don't have a good reputation. Violence and sectarianism spring to mind.

But like Locke says, this is unfair of me to say because I'm sure there are many fans that aren't involved in either. Yourself included, I'm sure.

I think we all have a particular group of people we're generally not so brilliantly fond of, while accepting that there will be good souls among said group regardless.

Nah, I burned down Neil Lennon's house, assaulted Gordon Strachan while screaming bigoted language and threw a pack of tic tacs at Henrik Larsson.

I don't see what's wrong with assaulting Gordon Strachan and tic tacs are fantastic, I bet Larsson was delighted.

For what it's worth, Tuscany's under a weather advisory today because of snow. The officials in Florence are monitoring the situation closely -- hopefully the Fiorentina-Bayern game won't be called. (according to sky tg24).
