Good, thats what the management deserve. However, I still think he loves the club and the fans. If he scores, I have no doubt he will not celebrate. After all he will get a very warm reception and probably chants of "come back ricky, you need to save us"

+1, i hope we get beaten well too, cos even a draw might be misleading about the true state of things& will also give those fools reasons not too make the much needed drastic changes..

Cristiano Ronaldo is out injured for both of the matches against Milan. We'll still lose, but this might keep the scoreline down a little.

Danny
Bougherra's out for Rangers tonight. He might not be the best at the back, but his all round game gives us a lot, especially in Europe.

3 points are a must tonight, and against Unirea, surely we can win them.

Ten Of The Best Footballers Who Have Never Won The Champions League

Roberto Baggio

The Italian legend’s only European club trophy was the UEFA Cup with Juventus in 1993. The same year he bagged the European Footballer of the Year and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards. He won the Serie A title with Juve in 1995 but was transferred to AC Milan the following season and thus wasn’t part of the Old Lady side that won the Champions League in 96. Baggio did win the Scudetto with Milan and became the first player to win consecutive league titles in Italy with different clubs. But he never came close to the elusive Champions League title for the rest of his career.

Ronaldo

The three time FIFA Player of the Year and two time World Cup winner won almost every major honour except the Champions League. He won the Cup Winners’ Cup with Barcelona in his legendary 96-97 season and then the following year won the UEFA Cup with Inter. When he joined Real Madrid in 2002, the Spanish giants were the reigning European champions but the Brazilian could only reach the semis with the Spanish giants. In January 2007 he signed for AC Milan but couldn’t play any part in the Italian club’s European campaign as he was cup tied with Real. He witnessed Milan’s 2-1 truimph over Liverpool in the Champions League final but was ineligible for a winners' medal.

Gianluigi Buffon

The Italian World Cup winning goalkeeper’s only European crown was the 1999 UEFA Cup with Parma. He is currently in his ninth season with Juventus but has only come close once to win the Champions League. That was in 2003 when Juve reached the final but lost on penalties to fellow Italian side AC Milan at Old Trafford. Buffon made one of the best saves of the shootout when he kept out Seedorf’s spot kick but it wasn’t enough as Milan won it 3-2.

Dennis Bergkamp

Before having 11 legendary seasons at Arsenal, the Dutch master played in Europe for Ajax and Inter. He won the Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup with Ajax and despite having a torrid time in Italy he managed to win the UEFA Cup with Inter in 94. Bergkamp played in nine consecutive seasons of the Champions League with Arsenal and managed to score many outstanding goals. But the London club reached the final only once and that was in Bergkamp’s last season when he was only an unused sub in the 1-2 defeat at the hands of Barcelona.

Pavel Nedved

The former Czech international won the Cup Winners Cup with Lazio in 1999 and then two years later was signed by Juve as a replacement for Zidane who had moved to Real Madrid. Nedved didn’t disappoint as he helped the Turin club to win four league titles. He was at the peak of his game in the 02-03 season when he guided Juve to the Champions League final. But unfortunately he was ruled out of the final due to suspension. Nedved won the Ballon d’Or in 2003 but never again came close to win the Champions League.

Frank Lampard

The Chelsea midfielder has scored lots of goals for the West London club in the Champions League including one in the 08 final against Man United which the Blues lost on penalties. That final has been Lampard’s best chance till date to win the elusive trophy even though he has also played in four other semi finals. The former West Ham man is 31 now so still has time to win the Champions League before he retires.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy

The 33 year old Dutch striker is currently the second highest scorer in UEFA Champions League history. He has been the competition’s topscorer on three different occasions but has only managed to reach two semi finals. Both of them were with Manchester United and despite joining nine time champions Real Madrid in 2006 he has never come close to win the trophy.

Lilian Thuram

The World Cup winner and the most capped French international like many in this list won almost every major trophy in his career except the Champions League. He won the UEFA Cup with Parma in 1999 and then joined Juve in 2001. Thuram helped the Old Lady to win four Serie A titles (two of which were stripped due to Calcipoli) but the closest he came to win the Champions League was the 03 final. He joined Barcelona in 06 but only managed to reach the semi with them.

Javier Zanetti

Javier Zanetti signed for Inter in 95 and helped them win four Scudetto crowns and one UEFA Cup title. However the Argentinean has never won the Champions League and the closest he came was in 2003 when Inter lost to city rivals Milan and that too on away goals. The club captain is now 36 and is running out of time to win the Champions League but with Jose Mourinho at helm anything is still possible.

Michael Ballack

The current Germany captain has played in two Champions League finals and that too with two different clubs. In 2002 he was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen’s run to the final which they lost 1-2 to Real Madrid. The same year he won a runners up medal with Germany in the World Cup. He only managed to reach the quarters with Bayern Munich but since joining Chelsea in 2006 he has lost two semis and one final.

Rangers lost 4-1 at home to a team I've never heard of. Liverpool go 1-0 up, but lose 2-1 to a 90th minute goal from Lyon.

Not CL, but Newcastle lost to Scunthorpe.

I don't ever recall taking massive delight in any of Villa's failings, why do you hate Rangers so much?

Fishdoll sorries for Danny and swears his waving of the blow up sheep didn't jinx things!

Fishdoll IS, however, amused at the dirtyrottenscousers' loss.

Course, as for tomorrow's game, Fishdoll will also be more or less pleased if Milan lose less badly than they did against the cugini.

So, watching the games now.

Kazan's first goal was really very pretty. Unstoppable, really.

Also, and this is coming from someone who normally refers to the guy as the Traitor, Shevchenko really looked quite good today for Dynamo. In good form, dangerous, etc. It's nice to see him finally recovering some kind of form.

Nothing to do with you, don't take it personally. Rangers came for a friendly at VP a while back, we went 2-0 up and the travelling support basically trashed the stadium and attacked women and children at the stadium, alot of older Villa fans REALLY hate your club. We also have alot of Celtic links. MON, Robertson, Walford, Tommy Johnson, Alan Thompson, Shaun Maloney, Stan Petrov, Didier Agathe, etc. Just never much liked Rangers much in any case.

Really happy about Liverpools poor start, hopefully Lyon/Fiorentina don't drop too much points from now on in.

@Danny: Like he said, don't take this bloke too seriously. He's English and hates everything. Something to do with the weather in his place. Even if you were from Yorkshire he'd find something about you that's weird. biggrin.gif

Cricket. Rugby. Accent. There's 3 already and it's 6am. I think the better question would be what isn't weird about them?

Tennie
United and CSKA are scoreless at the half.

Some prematch gossip for other games:
* The old Bordeaux side from the 90s with a lot of the France WC players will be in the stands (with Zidane the notable exception) tonight to watch them play Bayern
* It's bucketing in Turin for the Gobbi game, where Giovinco is set to start.

I personally think Barcalona was more memorable. Throwing away a 3 goal lead is bad and it would have been more memorable had it been late on, but there was still over 30 minutes to go when they equalised.

No. Bayern lead 1-0 going into the 90th minute, 3 minutes were add on, then this.

United, doing what they do best. rolleyes.gif
