For once I feel like I have to defend Bayern (odd feeling). I mean, they were very lucky to go through as Fiorentinas game was better over both legs. Bayern simpley made it, because of the indicidual class of Robben and Ribery.

Very very unfair were the conditions in Florence. The wind made this tie a lottery from time to time.

Unfortunately, it seems as if our complete rout of Porto has been overshadowed by the Fiorentina-Bayern tie.
I say unfortunately, because that was our best game in several years and the most one-sided game I've ever seen in the CL.
Oh and that goal by Nasri... solo effort of the season so far.

I watched the game; Arsenal were a joy to watch.
As for Nasri's goal, I think the Porto defenders defended like Sunday League ones out there (like they did every time Arshavin made a run into the penalty area). not CL level.

I think it's unfair to label that goal as offside. The rule is there help the game not bugger it. Gilardino (or whoever it was that made that received the first pass) was going stride by stride with the Bayern defender. Sometimes his leg was going to be ahead and sometimes his opponent's leg was going to be ahead. I think it's wrong to say that this was offside. The offside rule exists to protect players camping several meters behind the defenders, that was a fair run by two players going right next to each other, to stop that for offside would be bad for football in my view.

That kinda reasoning is silly. You're basically saying that offside shouldn't be offside as long as a player tried not to be offside? That's insane. Following that reaasoning I could also argue that a pilot is not responsible for a plane crash as long as he didn't plan to crash the plane. There is a clear distinction between "offside" and "not offside". And Jovetic was offside, even if it was only by 10 centimeters.

Jovetic was offside? I'm talking about the other goal then... and Gila's leg is ahead of the defender in that one... and what I meant is that since they were going side-by-side he did not have an advantage... which is what the rule is about.

What I'm trying to say is that they looked awful for a
reason... it's not as if they came out and self-destructed during the first five minutes, no own-goals, only one pen etc.
Did you watch the whole match by the way? Because there were some stunning plays that didn't result in goals as well.

There is also report on Marca that Kaka's adviser wrote on Twitter that Pellegrini was a coward after subbing Kaka:

Of course Arsenal made them look awful too. But I've seen teams lose big and not looks as bad as Porto did. I don't think Milan last night looked that awful and that's one of our biggest European defeats.
I think Arsenal's 3-0 win over Porto in their previous encounter at Emirates was a better game to given an example. I did watch the whole match, yes.

0-0 HT. Twice on corners Inter defenders tackled (and I mean American football tackle, not world football tackle) Chelsea players in the box, yet fouls were called on the Chelsea players.

Actually better than I thought - they had a couple of chances to score but didn't take them. even though Chelsea started to put more pressure late in the 1st half and I think Inter would have conceded in a matter of minutes.

Don't really care tbh, his stubborn attitude dragged us into the ground. And he didn't have the b@lls to stay when he knew Kaka was heading out.
He's only doing so well in the league because he has a great team at his disposal, just like he did so great with us when we had a great team, once that went away he couldn't even take us to the 4th spot

If Inter hold it together, it would mean that we have an even better chance at the league. Inter will be distracted for at least another 2 legs of the CL, and we all know that is what they really want. No doubt Mourinho will be pig headed enough to go all out for both. But the CL will still be their main focus .ie. more slip ups in the league
